  • half these views are from me

  • I get it; Rock out

  • When did a list of platitudes become poetry? (this comment is in reference to rock out, not his other work)

  • I love the way he says notebook.

  • Mojgasm @ 06:57

  • Anis Mojigani is a God.

  • guy in audience having a seizure 05:34

  • It's Friday. I'm in love.

  • Anis is the exception to my homosexuality

  • This guy is fucking amazing.

  • I want to be able to write like Anis. You are so beautiful! <3

  • Listening to this= Uplifting and inspirational

Reading the supposed "Closed Captioning" = Hilarious

  • i almost cried for the second one

  • I like turtles.

  • rad

  • Anis saved my life in more ways then I could ever explain.. I found him 2 years ago after some pretty bad stuffs had happened and he made me believe again.

I randomly clicked on this link one night and sat for the next hour, re-watching and re-watching this with tears streaming down my face. And the pain started leaving my body like never before. Thank you, sir, for everything.

Rock out like the mangoes are in season <3

  • 40 people need to rock the f**k out like the stereo's volume knob has the symbol infinity on it instead of numbers.

  • 6:59 she's heard this one before

  • beautiful

  • why is it only showing how many times i've viewed it. favorite video ever

  • anus

  • Can someone point me to a transcript/text-versions of these magnificent poems?

  • Pretty sure i have listened to this enough to recite this entire masterpiece word for word. and i'm still amazed.

  • i cant remember last time a poet REALLY moved me, but i have been watching this guy all day, and i just want to share it, i want everyone i know and like too see this, i want them all to feel like i do right now. I feel like a better person for watching this.

    Thank you!

  • Rock out like Jimi has returned carrying brand new guitar strings. - cheering for 3 full seconds until Anis starts reciting the rest

  • 00:00 - Direct Orders

    03:00 - Here Am I

    03:26 - Shake The Dust

  • he is a good poet, i liek his stuff but i just dont get his delivery sometimes, the writing is amazing just not sold on his performance, amazing work though.

also ur heart beats ALOT more than 900 times a day

  • "This is for the two-year-olds, who cannot be understood because they speak half English and half God"

Did I hear this line right? 7:18

  • @AuroraDragomir Yes.

  • @AuroraDragomir Fucking brilliant, right?

  • Don't get me wrong, I love Anis' poetry immensely. BUT, I wince every time he says that the human heart beats 900 times a day. I'm no cardiologist, but I'm pretty sure its closer to 100,000 beats a day.

  • @EWKrinkel He realises this, in other readings he says 100,000 times. His message is that the heart beats so many times a day. By saying 900 you think - 'wait, my heart beats even more than that. My heart - it beats thousands upon thousands'. For if his poem meant what it meant, it would not be intriguing.

  • @zacmz My mind is blown. That's actually an amazing language device.

  • @FuriousJambi Yes

  • @FuriousJambi yes

  • @FuriousJambi Pretty much. Yeah.

  • @FuriousJambi yes.

  • 36 people dont know how to rock out.

  • Got chills. Multiple times. This is most excellent.

  • I feel so epic that I can hardly breathe.

  • I love Anis, I discovered him a couple of days ago and he's given me a new found respect and love for poetry.

  • man who is this person is he really a person every time i listen to him a thrill just run down my whole body giving me a shiver, making me feel ,making me think, making me listen to wht is not said ,making me to do wht i havn't done !!!!!!

  • for the two year olds who cannot be understood because they speak half English and half god

  • Rock out like Jimi has returned carrying brand new guitar strings!

  • this is amazing

  • @ThePoemCritic go and write something better, hating asshole.

  • @ThePoemCritic when you become national champion of anything other than sucking dick, then talk.

  • @ThePoemCritic youre an idiot.

  • @ThePoemCritic You obviously don't know what slam poetry is

  • @ThePoemCritic This may be harsh... extrememly harsh... but go die in a fire. :)

  • Comment removed

  • This is one of the best things I have ever heard.

Rock out like like jimi has returnnd carrying a brand new set of guitar strings.

  • this man is truly the people's poet

  • Beautiful

  • Dude you are one amazeing person i look up to you(: im glad there are people like you in out insain world.. thank you

  • fuck the 36 people who disliked this!!!

  • this poem, among others, has inspired me to write stuff myself for the first time. /watch?v=NRRqJZMPs8Q

I did this in front of like six-hundred people, which I never could have done before the inspiration I got from this video. Thank you Anis for your gift to me.

  • @Archaebob Dude same with me, I'll check your stuff out when I get a minute!

  • @anoosepeenose - thanks man!

  • This guy's words make me more thankful that I'm alive. Thank you...

  • Rock out like you're coming to Memphis, Mr. Mojgani!

  • This man is the reason why people think that Jesus had a beard.

  • Anis personifies God... Why can't we learn poetry like this in school? I just started getting into this stuff, anyone have recommendations of poets half as good as this guy?

  • @brettwisniewski

He has a new book called the Feather Room coming out in a few months. You can look up stuff on his label - Write Bloody. You might want to start with the two people he tours with on the revival; Derrick Brown and Buddy Wakefield.

  • @blackblackfinger thank you!

  • I love his poetry, his delivering of his poems raises the hair on the back of my neck.

But for christ sake, I wish the crowd would shut.the.fuck.up. I don't utter a word until this video has finished, they're not taking it in, what are they there for?

  • @boynameddavid They are interacting with him - an added pleasure or attending a competition like this, which I assume also influences the judges decisions. The beatniks used to shout out a lot and snap their fingers for applause during readings/performance and it's still popular.

  • this guy gets more pussy than me

  • @damatick probably doesn't call it pussy and probably gets more because he doesn't call it that.

  • @ThisIsNotMia Listen to Invincible, you are right, he calls it vagina.

This guy is amazing, I feel like Ginsberg was one of his influences, but he far surpasses Ginsberg in my opinion.

My favorite line is "This is for the celibate pedophile who keeps on struggling"

It shows he has such a profound understanding of humanity. I want to shake the dust, to rock out, to make all his effort worthwhile.

  • @kingericio Yes, exactly. Right on! I downloaded any/all of the videos I have found of him and listen to them on my ipod as if they were music. It's beyond his poetry. He IS poetry. His voice itself is so poetic. I have been so inspired by him.

  • @kingericio Also my favourite line. I'm frustrated at the girl who shouts out "Why?" to that line. It's beautiful.

  • 3:26. "We once went to bed like between the bedsheets there was a giant valley of dinosaurs still breathing, and how we capture these triceratops es and brontosauruses, but even they were opened up with the smoke that rose out of the homes and the corners that we once climbed through, the streets and the footballs which we once threw, the school desks upon which we once drew, the windows that sat open through which we once flew..." 3:52.

  • 3:13. "We wanted to be 13 and alive and, meet a girl that was 13 and alive and, walk with her past the grandstands to sit and hold hands with, the sit and kiss with, to sit and sip with, like it was something that you would miss, but that never was." 3:25.

  • I don't get how anyone can listen to this and not GET it. I love this shit

  • beautiful!!

  • I replay this like the newest hit song replays on the radio.

  • Anis's feature film "Otis Under Sky" has made the official selection for the 2011 SXSW Film Festival! Congrats, dude! :D

Check it out!: Otis Under Sky .com

  • I love this guy! I just LOVE this guy!

  • *fingersnaps* Beautiful man.

  • I was here... but I had to leave to go wash the dishes - can't let the boss man fire me.

MF ... even the waitress looks down on me.

  • I love this poet. Love him. Wow.

  • "...and the answer comes.

Already am, always was and I still have time to be."

  • still not tired of this.

  • 400-500 of the views are from me. I love this.

  • I could never get tired of this

  • I've watched this video so many times. Thank you for waking me up, Anis. I think I just found a new hero.

  • damn.

  • 35 people have nothing in their life to rock out about. and thats sad.

  • @darapalooza

heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey. i was one of them... hahhah accidentally pressed the wrong button!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • rock out like you've just been given a bat, and permission to run through Pier 1.

  • Yeah! Disturbing the peace! Rock on!

  • 35 generic untalented clueless Justin Bieber fanatical morons voted thumbs down on this !!!

  • FUCK YES. I feel the spirit of Ginsberg in him :)

  • 35 people need to shake the dust.

  • @IsumoVamp

Not to contradict you, but of all the people who watched this video, it's not just 35 of them who need to shake the dust. Just because you hear Anis' words, know that they're true and want to take them to heart doesn't mean that you can. Actually breaking free is no easy feat.

  • @IsumoVamp 36

  • He has forever changed my life. I thank you Anis.

  • OOOHHHH SSSSHHHHIIIIITTTT!!!!!!!!

    What Just Happened lol.

Did a bomb go off no its just Anis.

  • @raymarkhamyarsongs Are you trying to say he doesn't have soul? you think to have soul you need to be wailing on a guitar like Slash and Jimmy? Fuck off buddy. grow up.

  • can i just say that i'd marry him in a minute.

  • this guy has got something...he's got THAT something

  • I like how all the negative comments about his poetry are marked invisible or marked as spam. I honestly do not understand this guy's appeal. I find it kinda pretentious. But everyone can have their own opinion. This kinda stuff is really subjective.

  • @zackthal Have you tried his poem "Galumph Deez Nutz?" It might make you change your mind.

  • this man makes me so happy i could cry.

  • straight slammin'.

  • OH NO. I accidentally pressed the dislike button 31 times.

anis is fucking amazing!! i could listen to this guy every day and not get tired of him.

  • this man knows how to arrange the perfect order of words.

  • shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

  • where can i find more information on him? this guys my hero.

  • wait.. how can you rock out?

  • @blackout2240 he's saying to live life as its fullest, to not hold back.

  • this shit is way better than eminem

  • Comment removed

  • @raymarkhamyarsongs note:he's saying to rock out. he's not saying "I'm rocking out" stupid ass.

  • @bltrnnicole first of all...your constant insults towards my opinions are unnecessary. secondy... i said nothing about him rocking out. i'm a fan of literature, i can comprehend what his intent is. i'm just not a big fan of new poetry i guess. i think music is a higher more expressive form of art, and i'm entitled to my opinion. it's obvious we don't agree. leave it at that and leave the insults towards me, someone you don't know, out of it. cheers.

  • I am so late coming to this party. I had never heard of this guy. But MY GOD. WOW. Downloading MP3s as I type, adding things to my iPod, gonna carry him around for inspiration.

  • Pure beauty through words. I love him so much.

  • "This is for the two-year-olds who cannot be understood because they speak half English and half God."

    <3

  • amazing.

  • One of THe BEST

  • My favorite is the person who groans right after he says "shake the dust" for the first time. Like he finally spoke what was exactly on that person's heart for a long time, but they didn't know how to say it.

    So. meaningful. <3

  • got his book.

  • Inspirational

  • Great collection, but my only critique is that you should have extended each performance a little longer so we can hear the crowd go crazy. :)

  • I was lucky enough to be there in the front row. He changed my life that night. I've heard this video a hundred times... he gives me chills every time. Truly amazing...
