  • Can I use some of these clips in a video I am making? I'll give you credit andd send you the link when I upload it. Please? lol

  • its great they love history, but I wonder if some guys take the role seriously or think theyre badasses? XD thatd be funny

  • @AZNmanJJ there are some pretty hardcore guys at these events, you can often smell them long before you see them

  • I am a reenactor belonging to units representing both sides, and the best solution I've found when it comes to taking hits in battles is as mentioned before, designating casualties... If I find there aren't enough hits being taken, I set an example and take one myself. Then at least it can signal to the others that they need to take some too.... It does look rediculous when you fire volley after volley and nobody falls.

  • nonnononononno dont use glorys theme use Gettysburgs theme

  • Whats this song i want it on my ipod but i cant find it on itunes?

  • Can't help but admire the soldiers fighting in the 1700s and 1800s...standing tall, facing the enemy, no sneaking around (for the most parts) and no trying to hide..:"here I am, come get me!"...have to take just a bit of balls.

  • well alot of times the color cartridge is used when you pull the red one you die

  • I'm not an expert but there seems to be a problem with the gravity.they just turned it on at the end and not many looked dead

  • I did American Civil War re-enactment in the UK a LOOOONG time ago. We couldn't keep our guys OFF the floor, they realised they could have a nice rest, a chug of water from their canteen and trade insults with each other. We had a unit prize for the best "taking a hit" usually a few beers. Maybe it's the British "Tommy" mentality, but it worked well !!!!

  • I also recall many past events when a particular yankee organization had groups that just stood in rank, fired, then fired again, rebs firing volley after volley ,taking hits.............and the yanks are still standing, with one man down(he's the one with the guts).I walked off the field at those events and when spectators asked why?. Well.....i told them the truth. This hobby gets too frustrating now and then, so i go to other time period reenactments to get a change of face .

  • Seeing the comments on here, and being a reenactor myself(N.C. Sharpshooter) I have to agree with those here that speak of those whom wear bullet proof superman underroos under their clothes, lol. Yeah, there is a lack of taking hits...on both sides, but mostly yankee reenactors .Sorry to bust chops, but i've been a spectator at events these past few years and have seen for myself what reb/yank reenactors are complaining about..But in reality it looks too darn cheesy with noone taking hits.

  • There have been countless ways units have tried to solve the "hit" problem. The tap on the shoulder or drawing a marked cartage. The most logical solution for showing mass casualties as they were but at the same time keeping the battle going is by taking a hit and being down for a few minutes, then rising slowly and limpish like your wounded, rejoining the fight.

My own rule is to take a hit in every fight but staying down during the event of a Confederate defeat.

  • they look like they don't wanna be there

  • The arguments on here remind me of kids playing cops and robbers.

    "I shot you"

    "No, you missed"

    "No I didn't"

    "Yeah you did"

  • The problem is 3 fold. The public wants to see a long battle for their long trip to the event. Reenactors, who've invested time, gas, money, and a weekend don't want to spend it laying in the grass. Mostly though the number of reenactors on the field never equal more than a quarter of the actual number that were in the original battles. If we all took the necessary hits the battle would be flushed in a few minutes.

  • Oh my god did I just see what I thought I saw, a Confederate taking a hit, I must be seeing things or something

  • ARE YOU KIDDING? LOL I've been a Confederate reenactor for over ten years and was in the middle of MANY local and national battles. I witnessed no more than three or four yankees taking hits during all this time. And in every battle I crossed against the 2nd US Sharpshooters, never once have I seen one of them fall. God forbid they get any dirt on their blue (or in their case, green)

  • dude, just shut up ok we've all seen many yankees fall and many rebels fall. There, problem solved.

  • ive been a union reenactor for bout 5 years and your completely right. The yanks take no hits when the south all died even though the north won this battle in real history

  • @rebelcry99 In Michigan its the other way around. when each battalion starts off with 100, the good guys "Federals" will leave the field with 25, and the rebs leave with 95. When I was at the 145th Gettysburg, It was very unfortunate to see the dis-proportioning amount of rebs to yanks. And how the only battle where the rebs took hits was Pickett's Charge. At one point rebs even went behind us, and started firing. The Scenario was Little Round Top for fucks sake!

  • @rebelcry99 thats because there showing that the union kicked the confederates ass even tho in some battles the confederates kicked the unions ass

  • @rebelcry99 That sucks that people don't pretend die when you pretend shoot at them, you have my pretend sympathies.

  • @rebelcry99 my ex is definitely a confederate at heart. The irony of it all is he is Minnesotan.

  • what a great video, well part of video
