Well.. the writer for the song is Canadian and he, himself, the writer has stated that he wrote the song due to the complete ignorance the US has to the middle east and the rest of the world.
If you read and listened to the lyrics.. you'd see what I mean. If you knew a bit more about Mr. Young and his political ideals.. you'd see it's very little to do with WAR and everything against those who perpetrate is and don't even realize it.
