@kapkarakaplan I agree with the fact that the eyes power levels are obviously on Pein's side. But Itachi is probably one of the best Shinobi in the Ninja world. Pein is fairly inexperienced when it comes to that sort of thing. Sure he's more powerful, but he barely knows how to use that power. Were as Itachi knows his eyes very well, and knows his limits.

@kapkarakaplan Well, Rinnegan isn't the final stage of Sharingan, it's simply the perfect version of all Keikei Genkai. Sharingan and Byakugan are just side versions of it. Though powerful in their own way. I'm not doubting that Pein would be a tough fight for Itachi, but if you just look at the skill Itachi has it'd be hard for Nagato to pull that off.

@itachi93674 Itachi's abilities affected his proficiency, longevity and subsequently, his vitality. There is no evidence to suggest that he would gain any brand new techniques. If anything, his Amaterasu would just upgrade to Sasuke's level whilst his other abilities remain the same just with increased durability. Also, he was a "once a generation genius" like Kakashi, Minato, and Orochimaru not once every 1000 years.
@itachi93674 Also, he and Oro's bouts are controversial in that they've never had a 1 on 1 fight with Oro displaying his entire repertoire of abilities. The first fight he was unaware of the potency of the sharingan's capabilities and in the second he was unaware of Susano'o's sword's abilities and allowed himself to be hit. (which has consistently been a characteristic of his fighting style, given his ability to regenerate.)

@123damed oh no no. Rinnegan is not effective in countering genjutsu. That does not follow from the fact that rinnegan is an evolution of EMS. The thing is, rinnegan ceases to be a purely occular jutsu, the moment it requires the cells from senju clan. It becomes an inflictor of great physical power; not granting any elaborate occular jutsus (except the regular ones like seeing chakra etc.) or any kind of immunity against them. Any path can easily be captured in genjutsu.
@Aman066 rinengan split in 2 sharingan and buyakugan, and 1st databook stated that sharingan ca counter genjutsu and taijutsu using insight and in the manga during the summit madara said that the rinengan has more insight than the MS. so if mangekyo can counter tsukuyome the rinengan wouldn't have any problems with it, tsukuyome will only obscure 1 of nagatos vision or immobilize him for a short period(best case scenario).A path would still see what is happening even if he is trapped
@123damed Rinnegan didn't "split" into Sharingan and Byakugan. It is a result of unpredictable mutation. There are certain things rinnegan can't do but Byakugan can e.g. seeing precise chakra points (not just flow), seeing far etc.Similar thing goes for Sharingan e.g inflicting genjutsu without seal forming, copying capability etc. Rinnegan is not evolution of Sharingan. It is a mixture of senju natured chakra and uchiha natured chakra in the body already containing an EMS.

No , it was stated in the manga that the sharingan derived from rinnengan. Madara explained the connection between the uciha and rikudo sennin.Its impossible to be a mutation/evolution(btw i didn't say that R is an evolution of S) since rinnengan appeared before the ucihas where born.
@123damed Again you are missing a big point here. Tsukuyomi is not solely meant for torture for long periods of time (or as seen by the opponent). Tsukuyomi is strong by sheer amount of control over the person's body and mind.E.g using tsukuyomi one can "allude" someone into thinking that they are bound by nails and hence can't move etc. or (Eternal tsukuyomi by madara) one can control someone's concepts and preconceptions, actions etc using it, if they had enough energy to sustain it

Once the thing is out, you have to destroy as quickly as possible. nope, in manga 439, the areas around deva path were sucked up excluding him. Im pretty sure the attack doesnt affect the user. The only thing in here that could damage nagato is tsukiyomi. Genjutsu, itself isnt great enough. Nagato has been seen to place genjutsu barriers and such, and it states that hes master yin-yang release(genjutsu)

Not "absorbing".The only reason it does not affect the Deva path because he is out of substantial effective range of the gravitational field produced by the black ball of chakra. The areas pulled up were not "surrounding" the deva path. They were away from deva path. As I said, Itachi could easily doge that attack, if did not have to save Bee and Naruto.

@1001417nat Placing Genjutsu barriers is a standard defence used by many villages in the past. It is nothing special. This is proved by proficiency showed by inoichi and yamanaka in getting past them, as if they were trained to do it as a standard interrogation procedure. Even Kurenai show this level of mastery.
@Aman066 i agree as well, that genjutsu barriers may be weak, but niether and nor has it stated that genjutsu is truly weak toward nagato. it was stated that nagato learned to manipulate yin-yang release. and genjutsu does follow under yin release. Also nagato is master at manipulating chakra as well..keeping 6 bodies at once is quite tough. And if genjutsu disturbs chakra im pretty sure nagato can restabilze it, considering how strong the genjutsu is.
1) If that were true, then human path would not have been under the genjutsu of Jiraiya AT ALL.
2) This fine level of chakra control by pain has never been showed in manga except by Uchihas in sharingans and genjutsu users. That is just SPECULATION based on nothing.

@kapkarakaplan I agree with the fact that the eyes power levels are obviously on Pein's side. But Itachi is probably one of the best Shinobi in the Ninja world. Pein is fairly inexperienced when it comes to that sort of thing. Sure he's more powerful, but he barely knows how to use that power. Were as Itachi knows his eyes very well, and knows his limits.

@kapkarakaplan Well, Rinnegan isn't the final stage of Sharingan, it's simply the perfect version of all Keikei Genkai. Sharingan and Byakugan are just side versions of it. Though powerful in their own way. I'm not doubting that Pein would be a tough fight for Itachi, but if you just look at the skill Itachi has it'd be hard for Nagato to pull that off.

@itachi93674 Itachi's abilities affected his proficiency, longevity and subsequently, his vitality. There is no evidence to suggest that he would gain any brand new techniques. If anything, his Amaterasu would just upgrade to Sasuke's level whilst his other abilities remain the same just with increased durability. Also, he was a "once a generation genius" like Kakashi, Minato, and Orochimaru not once every 1000 years.

The first fight he was unaware of the potency of the sharingan's capabilities and in the second he was unaware of Susano'o's sword's abilities and allowed himself to be hit. (which has consistently been a characteristic of his fighting style, given his ability to regenerate.)

Itachi could do all that, but I am not saying that it will defeat pain.....I (and any sensible person) will agree that Itachi will have VERY hard time fighting pain (and vice versa) but don't deny that in any given moment of vulnerability, Itachi will not rain hell on pain (and ofcourse, vice versa).

conclusion: all 3 had to use their strongest justu to beat nagato who was crippled and not in control(kabuto was in control)

@frego16 naruto didn't beat him alone, nagato used all of his chackra to ressurect all the people that he killed that is why he died, not to mention nagato used MOST of his chakra on destroying konoha and he couldn't used god realm at first, not to mention nagato wasn't trying to kill naruto, he wanted him alive, if he wanted him dead he could have done it while naruto was pined on the ground.Remember that full 6 pains killed sage jiraya in seconds.

@frego16 i did not say that its immposible to avoid CT, i said that itachi is incapable of escaping it alone.If itachi is a genoius he knew that it took all 3 strongest jutsus to defead CT that means itachi alone could not have done it.Nagato didn't knew Jiraya could use genjutsu+ field advantaje(the pipes) he didn't knew what jiraya was planing.Nagato knows about itachi, and during invasion arc all of who used genjutsu on him ended up bad(1 in the hospital for a week and 1 dead)

@frego16 an oh, tsukuyome does not kill an oponent, it just inflicts mental stress which would be useless on a body that is already dead(aka the 6 path of pain) not to mention its already stated that the rinengnan has more insight that the sharingan on genjutsu, so a rinengan ca counter a visual genjutsu better than mangekyo sharingan

@123damed oh no no. Rinnegan is not effective in countering genjutsu. That does not follow from the fact that rinnegan is an evolution of EMS. The thing is, rinnegan ceases to be a purely occular jutsu, the moment it requires the cells from senju clan. It becomes an inflictor of great physical power; not granting any elaborate occular jutsus (except the regular ones like seeing chakra etc.) or any kind of immunity against them. Any path can easily be captured in genjutsu.

@Aman066 rinengan split in 2 sharingan and buyakugan, and 1st databook stated that sharingan ca counter genjutsu and taijutsu using insight and in the manga during the summit madara said that the rinengan has more insight than the MS. so if mangekyo can counter tsukuyome the rinengan wouldn't have any problems with it, tsukuyome will only obscure 1 of nagatos vision or immobilize him for a short period(best case scenario).A path would still see what is happening even if he is trapped

@123damed Rinnegan didn't "split" into Sharingan and Byakugan. It is a result of unpredictable mutation. There are certain things rinnegan can't do but Byakugan can e.g. seeing precise chakra points (not just flow), seeing far etc.Similar thing goes for Sharingan e.g inflicting genjutsu without seal forming, copying capability etc. Rinnegan is not evolution of Sharingan. It is a mixture of senju natured chakra and uchiha natured chakra in the body already containing an EMS.

@123damed Again you are missing a big point here. Tsukuyomi is not solely meant for torture for long periods of time (or as seen by the opponent). Tsukuyomi is strong by sheer amount of control over the person's body and mind.E.g using tsukuyomi one can "allude" someone into thinking that they are bound by nails and hence can't move etc. or (Eternal tsukuyomi by madara) one can control someone's concepts and preconceptions, actions etc using it, if they had enough energy to sustain it

@1001417nat im guessing that u havent seen the part where nagato and itachi had a conversation before they fight bee and naruto a few chapters later, itachi already knew all about nagatos powers. which explains how he knew how to disable nagato´s shared vision right before he saved naruto and bee. and notice that he calmly found a weakspot in nagato´s chibaku tensei, which according to him was the core. as he said: every jutsu has a weakness. and the chibaku tensei´s weakness is its core.

@1001417nat if itachi didnt know about his shared vision then explain why he threw kunais and shuriken in both the animal summonings and the human path´s eyes before recuing naruto and bee. ur basicly telling me that itachi just threw his weapons in their eyes cuz he felt like it. it is easy, the gravitational pull makes it easier for any projectile based jutsu go straight to its core, it doesnt matter how powerful u are, if ur opponent figures out ur jutsus weakness then ur dead. just ask tobi.

@1001417nat Any projectile weapon can destroy chibaku tensei as long as it hasn't acquired any earth around it to protect it. Itachi and others had to use so much firepower because stupid Naruto couldn't stop whining about how they were all going to die and in mean time, CT gained much earth around it....And yes....Konan's technique was flawless.What are you implying? Yet your saying "all itachi has to do is throw his projectile" and the chibaku tensei is gone..remember that naruto's six tail bomb didnt even break it.

@1001417nat the weakness is the core, and notice that six tails naruto wasnt aiming for the core when he was attacking the already big rock. and even if he did he only landed 2 or probably 3 shots at it. compare that to the manga where their attacks werent even a straight beam shot and they were heading straight to the core thanks to the gravity that was pulling them in.

@1001417nat lol a way to destroy it = weakness genius. every technique has a weakness, if the opponent figures out ur jutsu´s weakness then theres a posibility that ull lose the fight, unless u can improvise with another technique like tobi did. nagato didnt improvised after the chibaku tensei´s cancellation, infact there wasnt much he could of done. he wasted majority of his chakra using summonings, naraka path, asura path, and chibaku tensei. and it only took itachi a mere second to seal him.

@MultiShadow91 dude, itachi couldn't have broken chibaku tensei alone. he had the two jinchuriki help him. itachi could not defeat nagato alone. also, keep in mind nagato didn't want to fight in the first place. there's no way he didn't already see that attack coming with his rinnegan, but whatever. be the itachi fanboy because he's "cool" and therefore stronger than anyone.

@1001417nat I think Itachi destroyed CT to save bee and naruto.If he were alone, he'd definetly dodge the attack somehow. Maybe moving over to where nagato was standing to escape the gravitational field(considering how fast he stabbed nagato once they landed :)) etc or anything as long as he does not have the responsibilty of those two. In summary, We don't know who would have won in Itachi vs Nagato. I think it was a smart move from kishi to leave it undecided because of the fanbase

@Aman066 He cant dodge the attack lol. its already absorbing you. you cant run away from it. Once the thing is out, you have to destroy as quickly as possible. nope, in manga 439, the areas around deva path were sucked up excluding him. Im pretty sure the attack doesnt affect the user. The only thing in here that could damage nagato is tsukiyomi. Genjutsu, itself isnt great enough. Nagato has been seen to place genjutsu barriers and such, and it states that hes master yin-yang release(genjutsu)

@1001417nat I think you don't know what CT does. It is Gravitational. Not "absorbing".The only reason it does not affect the Deva path because he is out of substantial effective range of the gravitational field produced by the black ball of chakra. The areas pulled up were not "surrounding" the deva path. They were away from deva path. As I said, Itachi could easily doge that attack, if did not have to save Bee and Naruto.

@1001417nat No.I am saying that Itachi DID outrun the CT's whole rublle of earth and pieces of rock.(see how in manga, Itachi almost instantaneously owned Pain after ensuring bee and naruto's safety and coming out of the rubble) and yes, Kyuubi could not escape CT because of gravity. Not because of slowness. Kyuubi did not know that it was running directly into the trap.

@1001417nat Placing Genjutsu barriers is a standard defence used by many villages in the past. It is nothing special. This is proved by proficiency showed by inoichi and yamanaka in getting past them, as if they were trained to do it as a standard interrogation procedure. Even Kurenai show this level of mastery.

@Aman066 i agree as well, that genjutsu barriers may be weak, but niether and nor has it stated that genjutsu is truly weak toward nagato. it was stated that nagato learned to manipulate yin-yang release. and genjutsu does follow under yin release. Also nagato is master at manipulating chakra as well..keeping 6 bodies at once is quite tough. And if genjutsu disturbs chakra im pretty sure nagato can restabilze it, considering how strong the genjutsu is.

1) If that were true, then human path would not have been under the genjutsu of Jiraiya AT ALL.
2) This fine level of chakra control by pain has never been showed in manga except by Uchihas in sharingans and genjutsu users. That is just SPECULATION based on nothing.
3) P.S. before you say something, body control is just chkra TRANSMISSION (pretty difficult too). But genjustsu is micro-level brain-chakra CONTROL. Totally different.

@Aman066 Reason of my dislikes toward itachi is, everyone likes this guy just because he saved his little evil brother. What would naruto be without sasuke? Orochimaru's attack on konoha, third hokage wouldve probably still be alived. akatsuki's actions wouldve been provoked. And all this, just because itachi didn't want the uchihas to rule konoha even though the uchihas were shunned upon for years, konoha still dont trust them? Theres a reason why they didnt follow madara, to gain trust.

@1001417nat itachi prevented a war, the uchihas cant take by themselves the whole konoha, they were gonna die anyways, but not without taking casualties from konoha,
it would make konoha weak and open for other countries to attack them, probably creating the 4th great ninja war. sasuke was just a kid you cant blame itachi for sasuke's doing,in RL alot of kids will become murderers but you cant blame their brothers and parents for not killing him when they had the chance, he was just a kid :|

Nagato however, took philosophy to a whole new level, with the idea of chain-links of revenge and hatred. That's what was so great about nagato. His words were soo strong that naruto, the most spirited boy ever, wanted to kill himself.

@1001417nat sasuke got his mind fucked up, he got a great trauma from watching his whole family dead, then the one that he loved the most killed them! the murderer left him alive and alone just by saying "you arent even worth killing" , you should try to imagine that kind of trauma then you would understand why sasuke is doing what he is doing, you wouldnt end right, some people would even kill themselves with that,
