  • What was that fiction movie where the really smart guy explains the BMW logo is from aircraft engines?

  • @VideoBox100 finding forrester lmfao.

  • @angryfurniture Yes that is the movie I was thinking of. Thanks! I actually believed the airplane propeller explanation of the logo when I saw that movie. I guess BMW saw the movie also.

  • @MAEdalgo BMW did that?

  • @mattjnor98 tombs upp!

  • I see by the comments from The Only Karkar and dicktohoe that some still think that the blue and white divided circle part of the logo repesents a spinning airscrew. Do a seach of the Bavarian flag for some clarification.

  • @MAEdalgo what? that was not the topic ashole... try again

  • @swunt10 What a tool. Do you JUST get on YouTube to argue? Get a life.

  • but the problem is same people buy their product just to support them. shame on them.

  • rapp lol

  • Always wondered what exactly the logo represented, good to have some more insight!

  • its kind of wierd that bmw doesnt know anything about their own logo even with the archives.

  • Truely an iconic logo worthy of pride come check out the newest BMW models at our NY Dealership!

  • Loves all the haters....obviously cannot afford a quality car.

Oh and muzzy, for the record, changing the oil filter is a 5 minute job on my 7 series haha....muppet.

  • The BMW museum in Munich mentions airplane propellers as the origin of the logo. No wonder people usually think that's where it comes from.

  • @aLIBUBA BMW also developed jet engines for Hitlers Reich like bmw 003 and heavy Bmw 109-018

  • I didn't know that BMW made cars until I started passing them on my R1200RT :-)

Their first business was Aircraft engines, and the first document that had the logo described their aircraft engines, therefore the Blue/White divided circle in fact does represent an aircraft propeller--no myth there in my opinion.

  • @dicktahoe Same here. Just because it was based off a different logo doesn't mean the propeller does not apply to the creation of it.

  • Interesting!

  • @mabdiuhrman Have you ever entered a BMW?Just compare the materials used in a 7-series with those in an american car.And about the reliability,i own a 323i E46 and so far with 150000 km it has only had a broken airbag sensor so far

  • @mabdiuhrman You sir are wrong, BMWs are some of the best, highest quality cars built. You can tell just from this video the pride BMW takes in their products.

Plus, if you hate Bimmers so very much, why are you watching a video about them?

  • this video no explain the origin of BMW logo

  • I love my BMW.

  • BMVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Im happy to see they have gone back to producing real cars and not the turdy business taxi's they had back in the E46/E39 days (except of course M3/M5). The new diesel sport range are the best diesels ive yet seen, and the M5 and M3 are still benchmarks!

    BMW ist wieder da!

  • eh... i like the airplane air screw story better... and BMW needs to improve on the ones they put on the cars, my friend's 323i BMW logo fadded away and now it's just a chrome circle

  • I love BMW...I can't wait to own my first BMW :)

  • What the hell are the people doing in their cars at 3:16? It looks like it's a real pleasure drive. <_<

  • @TravisDGEdna the 50's my friend

  • hahah

  • rhAP!

  • Be Em Double You Nothing More To Say...

  • wow that person sucks at putting the roundel on

  • @mujjuman yeah... i was thinking the same thing

  • sehr gute Darstellung!

  • Meh I already know that.

Same with Mitsubishi as well. They both used to make planes until after the WWII

  • sehr guuut

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!!

  • sehr interessant, nur für Fans.

  • that was usefull thanks

  • i need a fu..g logo hahah $41 US per one ... u_u

  • @modihacker230 only $41? where can i get one!?!

  • @apricotsnms516 ... try a BMW shop ! dahhhh !

  • @apricotsnms516 in a bmw store ... mexico :F $41 US per one ... it's expensive

  • raaaaaaaaaaaaappppp nice documentary!!!

  • ahhh interesting...

  • At the BMW plant in Spartanburg they whack the Roundel into place with a mallet. I was hoping they'd show it at the end lol

  • I had always knew the colors were from the Bavarian flag. But I always liked the logo! :D

  • I always thought is had something to do with boats, I don't why

  • Lovely!

  • I thought it was following the bavarian flag: tiny . cc/ea9v7

  • Funny how they never mention the relation with the Luftwaffe.

  • @alexybob11111 with the aviation, not only the luftwaffe

  • i love the bmw history

  • its a luftwaffe prop

  • Comment removed

  • @onemanarmy34 Its a Prop... In a time, when every plane had a prop, what made the propellers of the luftwaffe so different from all the others? By the way, the german Luftwaffe was founded after Rapp Motor became BMW. The Sign has allways been the so called Balkenkreuz (except the time during third reich, when the planes had a swastika on their tail). The Balkenkreutz is still to find on every plane of the german Luftwaffe...

  • @hobbygott1983 there is no Balkenkreuz in use today at the german military. what you mean is the iron cross wich is on every vehicle.

  • Mescedes, is your turn next to tell us! Followed by Audi, Ferrari.....

  • @boy638

Mercedes - Created by Gottleib Daimler to symbolize dominance of land, sea, and air (three points of the star).

Audi - Represents the four brands merged to create Auto Union (Audi, Horch, Wanderer, DKW).

Ferrari - Yellow background: symbolizes Modena, Enzo's hometown. Prancing horse: Count Francesco Baracca (WWI Italian Air Force ace) painted the horse on his planes. Enzo met his mother, she asked him to use it on his cars, he combined it with the yellow, job done.

    Anything else?

  • freaking awesome video, i always wondered where the logo came from

  • that was an interesting little video!

  • Legendary!

  • And those Roundels are way too expensive!!

  • @lambchopxoxo i bought one online for about 20$ not too bad
