In my opinion, the mellow parts at the beginning were a lot more soulful and pretty-sounding than the fast parts. Overall tho, awesome tapping and awesome solo.
BOYCOTT! SAIPAN! To all Japanese tourists dont go to saipan. dont waste your money there.Saipan people are terrible people. Lets not waste our money their. They didnt treat Taiji Sawada with respect. I heard from aunt who was on the same flight. they treated him poorly.
It was never the same after Taiji left. Heath could never move out from his shadow. Taiji and hide were the powerhouses of X Japan imo. It's sad when you think of it. One gone because of band disputes, the other gone in a tragic manner too young with still so much more to offer the world.

Taiji ripped off other songs. Voiceless Screaming is a rip off of Stairway to Heavon by Led Zepplin. Listen to the 'Rose and Blood' demo which Taiji released, it contains some of the songs Taiji Wrote for X's second album, which Yoshiki rejected. There is a Ripped off version of 'Sweet Child of mine' by Guns and Roses called 'Light Breeze' on there. Great bassist, but not a great writer.
That's pretty harsh, given the state of commercialized music; everything's intertextual. 'Light Breeze' is a good composition in its own right, and there's plenty of other songs of his that are decent as well. He may not be the most original writer, but that's hardly something you can single him out for. Point taken though; Taiji was by far the most influenced by the co-existing American hard rock / metal scene (which is why I like his stuff).
Granted that the structure and feel has it's differences from Stairway To Heaven - but the point I am making is that the song is clearly based on, or influenced by it - an in some respects plainly ripped off. If you want anymore proof look at the last line of the song: "I climb the stairs that lead me to Heaven".
I have to say that I agree. I feel like Taiji contributed a lot to X Japan, both as a sideman and as a writer; each of the band's songwriters had different styles, and to be honest, to have had all of their songs written by Yoshiki and hide would have been less interesting. Also, I gave your comment a thumbs up without seeing your name first. Uncanny, given that that's the third time I've rated a comment ever.
"Voiceless Screaming is a rip off of Stairway to Heavon by Led Zepplin." not very truth... the playing feel is a little similar... but structure has a number of differents? why not say all people who use the same chords are copy cats?
Then blame those bands that insists using the damn Pachebell structure first. That would be a rip off too. The composition always has some influences (artists, songs).
You're very narrow minded, Poopweiner.By saying that would make you look more inferior. Personally, I don't underestimate you. We've got the different tastes, so don't judge.
I don't know if Taiji is better than Heath but Taiji solo is beautiful. I also like Heath's though, I guess they're comparable 'cuz I always love X, no matter Taiji was replaced by Heath, for me it's still X-JAPAN style. They're admired for putting their spirits into the magnificent music!!
hes just playing fast to make it look like he has talent hes not that great i could playbetter than that two years into playing bass and thats not very good
please tell me where this video clip comes from. What VHS or DVD release is this? I need to buy this. NOW! I heard Taiji left X because Yoshiki was being unfair to him financially.
Taiji left the band becoz yoshiki nv put the the song which taiji composed in 1 album *can't rem which album* and taiji dun really like ballad... He only wan those rock song include and not ballad.
to me he always looks a bit melancholy... i think its people with the inability to read human emotion.... besides he was shown crying in some ballad vids... i doubt he hated them that much
@literalprofanit actually he just had some thing with yoshiki he said in his bio that he thinks hes a spoiled child and is the most brilliant person he ever meet
@yu313smile it wasn't that Taiji and hide didn't like ballads, but that Taiji want x to has less ballads song and focus more in rock like indies or vanishing or blue blood time. hide likes rock and electric but he didn't hate ballads. He was the one who suggest Yoshiki to re-write the lyric of Tears (the first lyric version performed only once)
wow what the heck how does he do this..?! when i saw the vid title i thought you had 'slapping' mistaken for 'tapping'.. well obviously i had no idea what tapping was until now. werd
In my opinion, the mellow parts at the beginning were a lot more soulful and pretty-sounding than the fast parts. Overall tho, awesome tapping and awesome solo.
