I've been using keepvid.com for aaaaaages and have never had problems with it! But now everytime I go on their site and paste a URL and click download, it automatically shuts down the browser,the website,everything. Can anybody tell me why and help me out with an alternative because I REALLY need to download some videos from youtube. Yes, Just download the song off youtube, then extract the audio with some free software called  AoA Audio extractor :)

i have a easyer way with out converting it. If you use Internet Explorer you copy and paste the url and click download and save it as eg. keepvid.avi and it downloads as a video file with converting.

which make you be able to use it in windows movie maker.

You're right, but it's shut down before and then it's come back. Anyway, you can do it manually, like this (in IE)

1. Delete all temporary internet files

2. Play the video

3. Go to the Temporary Internet Files folder

4. Find the file there called getvideo

5. Copy it (or Cut it)

6. Paste it onto your desktop (right click and paste, or Ctrl + V)

7. Give it a new name, ending .flv (or .vlc if you have VideoLan), giving you a new file called, say, Dylan.flv or Dylan.vlc

8.That's it.

Keepvid may work, but the problem is its makes the file protected somehow, like i'm trying to convert it to a regular Mpeg and my Program keeps freezing, plus the video gets all blury.

Yeah, I think age-restricted videos are unable to be downloaded. However, if you check your Firefox or IE cache, you may be able to find the videos in your cache directory. Granted, they won't have a file extension, and they'll be of the lower quality of .flv files.

YouTube vids that were uploaded through Google Video (anything over 10min) tend to not work with KeepVid.

And for the last 24hrs I've not been able to use KeepVid at all. I get a "page load error" every time I try to visit. I am very suspicious of this.
