The above stanza was to rebut a senior monk who earlier wrote:

The body is a Bodhi tree,

the mind a standing mirror bright.

This is a Zen Buddhist phrase given by Master Hui Nen expressing his level of Enlightenment. Basically it says IN BODHI THERE IS NO TREE...... if there is NO SELF, there is NO DUST to settle on.
