I'd say "At least they didnt dubstep it" but sticking your anus to something and shitting on it with hernia-inducing strain is the same no matter how you look at it.
Liszt was known to interpret other composer's in such a way that he thought no one else would be able to play them. Song writers today have 'remade' classical pieces all over the place, sometimes slapping some lyrics in and those songs were at one point topping charts. He may be one in a million artists/musicians doing the same, but he's good at what he does. He's an excellent pianist with extraordinary talent. Is he the best? probably not, but let's not bash him for creating art, shall we?
@Helzivsymph This is not Liszt. He is not an excellent pianist, he has no talent, plays more like a ten yeard old giving him the benefit of the doubt. Why is he pissing people off taking the best classical pieces and turning them into shit.
@36beachbum If it takes no talent to play this, then I'm challenging you to post a video on youtube of YOU playing this, or anything that this guy has ever played. If you don't like it, then move on and spare yourself from looking like an idiot.
@ronandali Envy this? LOLOLOL that cracks me up, your man's sooo bad and this sucks soooo much the video should be banned. LoL maksim's classical pieces are poopy.
Art is a form of expression in any form, "and for all the uneducated in the room, Handel is before the classical period" However the beauty of classical music is that due to the fact there are no actual recordings, each peice is open to any interpretation. This is a beautiful composition and is expressed with grace. it is your own opinion of this work, like or dislike. But to critique it with hostility is only proof of your own ignorance towards art and artists.
@mgbrad3388 And your words are as foul as your veiw on music. It's quite clear you havent studied much.... Lets have a little share time shall we? Can anyone explain to Mr. Mqbrad what a treatise is? I feel he has misused the word...Thanks for helping me expand his vocabulary
@ssjhobbes foul words? not from me dude. you likely studied disco and how to screw up the best classical music, like this guy does. this is perverse, an abomination!
c'mon people listen to music and don't bullshit, if you don't like it why should anybody care?! click the dislike and that's enough. who are you to judge that this is terrible, guy is playing his music and for him it's good and that's all that matters.
@lightsoprano Are you serious?! if the music needs to be warped like this to reach more people, its obviously not reaching the kind of people that it was intended for, which is classical music listeners.
Who knew that one day, Handel's Sarabande sequence would be so ridiculously abused? That's not a simple rape, that's a snuff film... Because after the rape, the raper also mutilated the victim and trashed it in a dump... Why Art has suffered so much in 21st century? Stop destroying musical masterpieces, because that's not an arrangement, but simply a vandalism... Imagive Da Vinci's 'Mona Lisa' with a green/violet beard painted over it... Is that Art, or a degradation & humilation of it?
Personally, I think Maksim is a great talent. But, in this piece, he has put too much 'show' and too little 'soul'. Note the polite applause at the end. He didn't touch many of this audience.
I quite liked it, yes, it is nothing like the original. But I think by putting a modern spin on it, they accomplished their goal quite well. The piano really keeps the song in tune, without the piano man, the song would fall apart.
BIG THUMBS DOWN! ...Wish I could say, "I loved it" but I can't...a masterpiece is a masterpiece because it is perfect. By making such a vast variation to Handel's Sarabande, you have made this piece less than great...pity
When I'm down at the gym, I find Maksims music great to work out to. I hate the music they play in gyms and, as a classical enthusiast, love the fact I can listen to tracks with a driving beat...
I like the sound of it, But it really does not stay true to the original mood and feel of the original Handel Sarabande. If I didnt know it was Sarabande, i would love it, but the complete changing of style kinda threw me for a curve
@limitedbitch Ok, the masterpiece is still there... but this is still quite terrible! If you want to make a modern version, I think you have to do it properly,
@chapeauelesmirriau... peple will never agree when discussing. You have to understand that there is no proper way to make a modern version. Everybody makes his/hers own version.
And if some version is labelled as modern, for me, that is the sign that it has become commercialized and under the influence of wrong thinking what is good and what isnt. See, this is only my opinion.
But, as they say: De gustibus non est disputandum.
But can you answer how to make a modern, proper version of this?
@limitedbitch Oh i agree completely, there is no single "proper" way to do anything in music. I tell you what, this piece lends itself to some dramatic modern dance version in the spirit of this one. What i don't like is that he's done an arrangement which doesn't add anything. He's chosen a simple beat, instead of sticking to the melody, he's improvised extremely obvious melodies 0:54 which are a let down. If music is building of tension and surprise... he's not manged that at all.
@chapeauelesmirriau I agree with you, I know this isnt the best version, not even a version that would, when listen to, cause the WOW effect ;) This is commercialized version but good enough to relax since I found Handels version a bit heavy and dark.
@limitedbitch have you heard parkening's arrangement for guitar? /watch?v=NuM0tUrEY0I&feature=related (better when played by him but i didn't find it in youtube)
@chapeauelesmirriau yeah, not a fan of guitar that much :) Piano is my love, even though i didnt play it for several years. i have heard some arrangements from him, love the greensleeves!
Handel and Bongos --- never thought I'd see/hear the day ... lol! I think the piece is a lot more powerful without the other instruments, but maybe I'm just a high-culture slag.
Not that I have any complaints again Maksim's dressing sense, these homophobic nuts on youtube are making stupid comments about him..
so if I were to dress him, I'd probably make him wear like worn out, low rise, slight boot cut Diesel jeans.. Any old plain tee would do just fine but to add spark to his outfit, I'd add in a soft leather blazer (good fit) and a smart belt.. I'll give him the liberty to choose his own shoes... lol...
r u serious?! geeeeez! ok i do agree that everyone has different tastes, but i'm really surprised to see someone say that Maksim is not good at all. i'm curious to know what you dont like about his playing. what is it??

@Litawyn His outfit is ridiculous. But i do enjoy his playing. I only listen to it because the piano sounds good, regardless of what else is going on. The Attitude and appearance of the player shouldn't matter. The sound quality of the piano in these pieces is fantastic.
This isn't Händel so why complain? This is an ancient chordprogression called "La Folia" that Händel himself borrowed to write variations in one of his harpsichord suites.
@Dinoel148 on every video is your stupid comment... you probably don't have a clue wtf piano is... stupid tard... why the fuck are you watching all of his videos then? buy a gun a shoot your self in the foot!
handel would have liked this rejouvenating version of sarabande. I can imagine him now kick'g back w/ a glass of wine, grateful that his compositions are remembered 200 yrs. latcan do no wrong......... Maxsim know how to do it. It's just another rendition. He has fun w/ it. I like it. I'd also sell my soul to be able to pull off playing the piano like him.
plays fine, but part of the THING in this particular piece is the silence and it`s managment, it gets totally broken, the guy is good and quite recovers thy drama in the last part, the beat is out of place the rest of instruments cool.
I found this very enjoyable... Music is what makes us all unique. We all have our unique styles which we enjoy. This is the BEAUTY of music! If you do not particularly "like" this piece of music, don't listen. DO NOT, however, insult the musician or the music he produces. It's not about you, don't be so damn conceited. Music is food for the soul, and everyone likes something different. The beautiful thing about music, is that it's beautiful to he who is creating it.
that is bad neoclassical music. And the title should be "Handel's Sarabande by Maksim" or something like that.... go see music by stravinsky, poulenc, orff... they composed really neoclassical music
@WhiteHuskie66 If this too modern for you, type in Handel's Sarabande, and it will bring up websites, and you will love the first one listed, really beautiful, but all these instruments and band of violinists etc, and God, he doesnt have any sleeves, and has leather bands on his wrists,,, !
Their is a certain level in which you can interpret a song. THe fine line was crossed, when somebody pushes a different emotion or story than the original composer (in this case handel) you are in this case butchering the whole reason for this piece. This song is suppose to be played in a manner of beauty and sorrow but is played as if a adventure is going or a villians theme song.
@dontreadthis15 Aren't you glad we all have our own opinions on what "line-crossing" is! To you, it's been crossed, and you can hit the little "x" and move on. To those of us who feel no threat, we can enjoy, everyone's happy! Ah freedom!!!!
All of these "true" classical fans make wonderful points. Musicians like Maksim should just quit playing the music they love, and let classical music die off, never to be enjoyed by another generation, in it's original form or otherwise.
@WhiteHuskie66 Oh shut the fuck up. Sarabande is nice and all, but it is easy as fuck to play. Nobody is going to crowd into a theater to watch someone play a grade 1 piano piece. This is 2010, if you don't want to be a part of modern times, go step out in front of a bus.
I think this is a good version. The original is superb but there is no problem in doing variations on a theme. Most composers do this. Well done Maxim.
I agree with you socalguy2186, but feel that you lost the argument as soon as you started to use the Anglo-Saxon phraseology in your last sentence.
c'est une très bonne interpretation de la saarabande même avec la batterie. Il faut voir si Haendel aurait aimé ça. Cet homme est un vrai prodige au piano.
Of course, but what I said was that since he doesn't live now, and he was raised in the baroque era of music. So if he could magically hear it when he lived back then, he probably would appreciate it at all. And your english is good, no problems there.
@danraj13 Could'nt agree more....every artists dream is to b creative and add value by creating diversity...Even guys like clayderman tried to do this.
He spoiled such a beautiful piece :(

Handel's God driven music makes me tear up. What beautiful music. There is a God.

handel would have liked this rejouvenating version of sarabande. I can imagine him now kick'g back w/ a glass of wine, grateful that his compositions are remembered 200 yrs. latcan do no wrong......... Maxsim know how to do it. It's just another rendition. He has fun w/ it. I like it. I'd also sell my soul to be able to pull off playing the piano like him.
waterbird91 11 months ago
handel would not be proud with this one,it's completely changed(and with crazy background!)
kairunodame001 1 year ago
Maksim is an accomplished pianist...this is, however, a different rendition of SARABANDE but yet, I liked it...

A beautiful piece with a new modern twist.
Personally my favorite rendering of Sarabande by Handel is still by the national Philharmonic Orchestra.
But Maksim is most remarkable.
ofcelticblood 1 year ago
plays fine, but part of the THING in this particular piece is the silence and it`s managment, it gets totally broken, the guy is good and quite recovers thy drama in the last part, the beat is out of place the rest of instruments cool.
let's see how he manages thy rest.

And the title should be "Handel's Sarabande by Maksim" or something like that.... go see music by stravinsky, poulenc, orff... they composed really neoclassical music
matttgic 1 year ago
@WhiteHuskie66 If this too modern for you, type in Handel's Sarabande, and it will bring up websites, and you will love the first one listed, really beautiful, but all these instruments and band of violinists etc, and God, he doesnt have any sleeves, and has leather bands on his wrists,,, !

Their is a certain level in which you can interpret a song. THe fine line was crossed, when somebody pushes a different emotion or story than the original composer (in this case handel) you are in this case butchering the whole reason for this piece. This song is suppose to be played in a manner of beauty and sorrow but is played as if a adventure is going or a villians theme song.
dontreadthis15 1 year ago
@dontreadthis15 Aren't you glad we all have our own opinions on what "line-crossing" is! To you, it's been crossed, and you can hit the little "x" and move on. To those of us who feel no threat, we can enjoy, everyone's happy! Ah freedom!!!!

All of these "true" classical fans make wonderful points. Musicians like Maksim should just quit playing the music they love, and let classical music die off, never to be enjoyed by another generation, in it's original form or otherwise.
That makes -perfect- sense.

Félicitations.

@filsduBaron, im not sure handel would appreciate this being done to his music
Eric1029res 1 year ago
@Eric1029res Handel did this song with his century "fashion" and I think that if he lived today, He would creat it as Maksim.
Everybody lives with his time.
Sorry for my language, I'm french and some words are difficulte to translate
filsduBaron 1 year ago
Of course, but what I said was that since he doesn't live now, and he was raised in the baroque era of music. So if he could magically hear it when he lived back then, he probably would appreciate it at all. And your english is good, no problems there.

@danraj13 Yeah, why don't you try urinating upside down, and don't come back to the keyboard before washing up!

@danraj13 To me that"s what makes one a good pianist, doing something new without touching to the text (by text i mean the score the composer wrote)
