I've seen many, many violinists and fiddle players, but this is most impressive. What a fantastic performance from a real master. Thank you very much for sharing this marvellous video and music, I enjoyed it so much, it's now one of my favourite pieces.

Use to sit on the stairs at home in dublin listening to my Mum , Sean mcGuire, Sean Cotter and Bill Power (The Four Star Quartet) pratice in the front room it was such a great sound. My dad Bill Stapleton recorded them in his studio in 1960 one of the greatest LP's of irish music Music of Ireland. Legend :)

Absolutely superb fiddling particularly on the "Mason's Apron". Can someone advise me what rolls he's playing on the B part?  I've never heard that variation before.

I met sean once but knew his brother jim well who in my opinion was just as great a fiddle player but never took it up proffesionally he was my inspiration and still is when I pick up my fiddle, god rest their souls

Hi there, I'm the little one sitting down the front beside the harpist! Sean was an inspiration, both as a musician and as a person. Though many try to compare to or copy Sean, there has never been and will never be anyone like him. He's left a hole in the world of traditional music no-one can fill. A true gent.

Just brilliant to find this and other videos of Sean on YT. I had the pleasure of being in Sean's company way back in 1978 at the Kinross Folk Festival. He has not lost his astonishing ability in this video despite obviously ill health. Anyone got more videos of him playing?
