Do you voice "experts,"-- many whom most probably have not achieved a fraction of what these amazing singers have accomplished -- ever stopped to look at yourselves and what your ridiculous, destructive, and nasty comments reveal about yourselves?? Can't you simply enjoy the beauty of what these singers have to offer and be grateful for their willingness to share their gifts and their positive contribution to humanity?
@Wilhelm224 What a ridiculous comment, sounds like you are typical of those so called fans who just accept anything that's offered, without criticism there can be no excellence. You don't have to agree with what others are saying but if they wish to criticise they have every right to.
One of the most beautiful voices around today. Beautiful ful and slow calm vibrato, not a wobble, that is something very different. Barbara is very careful when deciding what roles to sing, that is why she left Puccini to others for so long as it was not right for her voice. She will last a long time
First of all... the voice of Frittoli is SO BIG... Perfect for Verdi... Second... the vibrato is SO BEAUTIFUL... like Tebaldi or Callas... just Perfect! 3rd. ... This a "Pregiera" (a prayer) Opera is not screaming... is not sound... not noise.... is Music... and Frittoli is a Master in that.... BARBARA... BRAVO!! Wonderful Performance... Please... be always like this... :)
She doesn't have a tremolo! A tremolo is an unhealthily fast vibrato rate. If anything, her vibrato rate slows sometimes. Gorgeous voice, wonderful singing artist! leave her alone!
That wobble for such a "young" voice is terrible; she'll end up just like Maria Chiara (sorry!) Singing too many SPINTI roles while being a PURE LYRIC. There're no miracles with the human voice; that's the price to pay. Period.
There are only two groups of muscles in the larynx responsible for making sound. The arytneoids and the thyroids. These correspond to chest and falsetto. Headvoice is a falsetto dominant sound, but still has chest involvement. If you take the chest voice out, those muscles weaken and the balance is thrown off causing a myriad of problems.
That is not a wobble but a beautiful vibrato. OK, Chiary and also G Jones did have rather a wobble later in their careers. But Barbara definately not.
I can onla agree with Verdi: for this it needs more voice - volume and more stamina at all! I like signora Frittoli, but Verdi ...No thank u...only her Traviata and Gilda and this liric roles and Mozart ...Today many of this kind of voices sing the big things - sometimes I think the sopranos today are very stupid, they like to kill music ...
I would disagree... Did you notice the 2nd violinist from 1:24-1:33? LOL. That woman's face said "I really don't want to be here playing this." Unfortunate to see! It's such great music.
This is a nice performance otherwise. I'm not sure that Frittoli has the mettle to take her through the role, but perhaps others disagree. 4/4

To me it's an Italianate vibrato. Idiosyncratic but hardly a sign her voice is going.

I agree. And it is the price paid for taking proper lower register involvement out of the voice.

Can you expand on this comment? I am curious.

What a pity he has developed a wide vibrato at this point in her career. She's also a fraction late on each of her important entrances.
