Keep on trying man. But as a tip for 3 finger style: Don't use your fingers in the same sweeping motion like you would use for 2 fingers. Check out some of Billy Sheehan's instructional videos and you'll see what I'm talking about.

yeah dude good job. when you try the galloping sound use two fingers and accent the first beat on triplets.

No body ever gets Harris' "gallop" correct! In between the triplets (gallops) Harris does a left handed string mute. It is very fast, which is why no one ever picks up on it, but it is very important as it separates each triplet. Listed very close to this and The Trooper and you'll hear it. The way he does this mute is he (for a split second) lets up off of the fret, which silences the note.

the galloping sounds a little more defined with 2 fingers because with three people have a tendency to hit with their ring finger and middle finger too close together, where as with 2 the notes are generally more evenly spaced and often more powerful. of course if your good enough you can make 3 sound just fine but it still wont have the feel of IM galloping.
