  • that brodda go hard

  • Two years tops for whole spices...considering it took a few months for the East India Company to get those things back to northern Europe from the Spice Islands, no wonder they went so all-out on designing faster ships during the 17th and 18th centuries---made the spices tastier. ;)

  • Is it sad that I want to eat that salmon as is before the cooking O.O Look at the color on that salmon.

  • is that a school cafeteria lunch tray he has all the curry ingredients on???? The green sectioned tray .....

  • wonder what he was thinking when the salmon popped up

  • Surprised and disappointed he used frozen vegetables AND a microwave!

  • 6:42, that is why the south is awesome

  • @naugotwolf Damn straight!

  • does anyone know if there is a difference between cooking with whole spices as opposed to grinding them first?

My mom makes some south asian dishes with both ground spices and whole spices.

Its kind of annoying to get a spoonfull with a hidden clove or cardamom that I bite straight into...

  • @codectified well you already said one, so you dont bite into a very, um, flavorful, bite. Generally speaking if you through whole spices into a dish you remove them before serving. Grinding them prevents having to do both!

  • i make my own ginger powder and its great

  • "i like to take off the stems and get the seeds out of there"

My man ab dont fuck with no seeds or stems

  • GUITAR!!!!!!!!!

  • "I predict that in the not-too-distant future, everyone is going to have their own TV network, and their own spice rub."

... Can we consider YouTube that first one, and call Alton Brown the culinary Nostradamus?

  • Does he call that an Indian curry?

I love Alton Brown but that curry is something that Sandra Lee would make...

  • Curry is something that originated in India!

  • i would know im indian.

    thats not real curry.

  • @sushilubber if you are indian you would know that there is no such thing as curry in india, that was a word made up by the English

  • Ever occur to you that maybe she took his idea and then re-gave it out as her own?

  • He never referred his curry as an "Indian curry", so no. He doesn't.

However, I'm inclined to agree. I think I'll still try this because it still looks tasty, but it's definitely not an "Indian curry". It's a ... stupid, white American curry. :D

  • I'd always assumed allspice was a combination of spices due to its name. Once again I've learned something. Thanks, AB & LTH!

  • LOL @ incoming salmon

  • "Well... would you look at thaaaat?" hahaha

  • forget a pepper mill, you need a pepper drill

  • Lol 5:13-5:17 my favorite part

  • The pepper grinder is clever.

    LOL

    ZealDaan

  • ROCK OUT ALTON!!!

  • Ooh... Royal blue with metallic fleck. I wonder what kind of guitar Alton has... Looks like a Fender Stratocaster, but can't be sure. I play Classical guitar but still can't put down my electrics and acoustics... Oi, I'm rambling again...

  • Alton Brown is a Kitchen Hacker.

  • Check out Alton Browns book, it tells you how to hook it up!!

  • I'd hate to be the poor sap that had to count 3000 peppercorns. And that grinder was badass.

  • Yea, me too.

  • i wonder how he made that grinder

  • Seriously. Who do you think makes his gadgets?

  • Tighten the chuck of the screwdriver to the metal inside of the grinder with the top off.

  • i tried that it works

its hard to use but it works
