@Eadwine17 Actually, it's been almost exactly 1 year since I've had this knife.
I have had zero issues with it. I have a spyderco sharpmaker that I use to touch it from time to time, and it's still razor sharp. After my initial cleaning a year ago, I have also never re-oiled it or anything.
My only issue is that it is slightly too large for regular EDC use. But that's just my opinion. A great knife!
Watch my video on what could happen to the 710 blade even if you use it to cut open the lid of a typical cooking grade rice vinegar bottle - if u love your knife that is.
spyderco lockbacks are easy to close one handed...you depress the back lock and let the shelf of the blade drop on to your index finger and then close the blade.
If you are referring to the closing method of lock back Spyderco knife...there is a good inch of steel [unsharpened shelf] that is below the cutting edge.
other than that I have no sharpness issues with my blades
Animals, to peel the skin from them. Another thing UrbanEDC, do you know a good webpage to buy this kind of items, and if there is any law against them in the state of Massachusetts.
Nice man, glad to see you making videos again. Wow, a BS and MS in engineering? You like school a LOT more than I do. After my BS in engineering I never wanted to go back. Combo edges suck, axis locks rule, and I still need to get a 710!
Although I'd be hard pressed to say that you'd be impressed with the 710 (due to your extensive collection of 'exotics,') I think this will remain a favorite of mine for life.
hah yes you should. As far as the 710 goes, I'm a huge Benchmade fan and love simple useful designs. I don't think I've ever picked up a benchmade I was unimpressed with. There's always a first time though. =)
The 710 is my best knife too if you're going by price. It's funny that everybody says it's not that intimidating a knife (at least the plain edge) because like reviewer nutnfancy said, and I agree, it would be an awesome fighting knife if you ever used it like that. The only problem I am having with the 710 -- I've had mine half a year or so -- is that I find it hard to get myself to use a 100 dollar knife over some of my other knives which I use harder because they were 1/3 the cost.
is this a knife review or an irritating ramble?

hey UE hows the lock up any play?
usermalfuntions 1 year ago
@usermalfuntions No, No play. At all. It's an axis lock, I wouldn't expect there to be any play in any axis-lock knife.

hey do you still have your knife in tip top problem free?

not sure what you mean by that?

You can also open it by doing the spydie drop!

great video man! I prefer the plain edge also.
Good points on sharpening, I should have explained it better like you, I had a hard time REPROFILING of the edge.

710 is really elegant and slim. I've had a couple and recommend them.

UrbanEDC, one question, what would be a good pocket knife (foldable) to peel skins?
jodase01 2 years ago
skins as in fruit or skins as in animals?
i have no idea how to prep an animal.
for fruit, a swiss army knife would work just find or a nice opinel.

Great review, got this same knife on the way, along with the BM Mini Rukus :D, should get you one of those! very nice blade.
antixbush 2 years ago
The Rukus is no doubt a nice hard-work knife.
However, it is a little heavy for my tastes, but I do like that blade shape a lot. You're going to really enjoy your knives. = )

but will it blend?

the limit of this knife is up to your imagination... ^^

Ya, I use my Vex for "hard tasks" like outdoor use. But for everyday stuff I have no complaints. Just keep 'em sharp!
On the other hand, I also feel like I need a knife for foodstuffs.... for now, I just use my SAK.

Congrats on getting into grad school? Where will you be attending? And what kinda degree are you working for?
I'm thinking of attending grad school, but at this point, professional school sounds more appealing.
MystikEssence 2 years ago
I already have a B.S. and M.S. in engineering. I'm now going into pharmacy school.
I think professional school is easier to find a job with later, but it all depends on the field you're going into. Good luck!
