  • What a crackin job mate,well done.

  • remember me , i sent you a messaga a couple of yeays ago , and i just done another ... number 4 now and its all your fault lol ,, check it out under ,, lambretta sx 200 restoration ,, thanks

  • nice work fella - did you have an identity crisis with the panels part way through there??

  • First class job. I dream on.

    cheers

    kenny

    Skye

  • - what did you use to strip paint of the legshields, panels etc ? - and what do you reckon is a good paint to use as a top coat/ cheers

  • any ideas how much a 125 lambretta prefrebly li seris 3 would cost?

i would like to restor one over the coming year so when i turn 17 il have a nice scoot and some experience...

also how much do you think in total it would cost to do up?

    thanks

  • @MrRowrow22 you can pick some rusterations up at good prices , but at most is around 1800 , , also you have to find the good italian parts dont use indian parts in a rebuild there not as good quality .. im currently doing a li150 myself , and i got it at a bargain of a price of 850 complete scoot , but i have spent nearly 2k on it , and its in process of being sprayed and then be put back together bit by bit :)

  • quality Dave... never owned a scoot but i do love them... i would be rpoud riding one like this.. she is a beauty mate... just out of interest are they easy to restore and are parts easy to source?

  • @Twilight1964

    hi, thanks for the comments...

Are they easy to restore?? ... generally, yes, and there are some good publications and videos out there that are a great help. Yes, the parts, here in the UK, are easy to source, you can still buy every last nut, bolt and washer from quite a few sources

  • Great looking job! Im about to start restoring my 1964 LI 125 and this has gave me the kick up the arse to do it!

  • good luck with the resto, please let me know how it goes!!

and thanks for the kind comment

    david

  • Hi David. I found your videos! Great stuff. Oh and if you are wondering who this is, I'll simply say thank you for listening to me talking about Doctor Who yesterday in a church hall in Chatham....

  • Could do with a different backing track.

  • oi david !

    LOL

  • just how mine started out. follow my link to see my GP

  • The best music for the right Lambretta scooter.. :o))

  • Not bad at all, cost a few grand i would say. You know i'v been scootering now for over 20 years and if i got a pound for every spoofer who told me at one time or another they had "5 scooters in the shed" or an SX200, or that they "cut up an SX200 in the eighties" etc...etc.... i could comfortibly retire in the morning.

There are so many people who claim they had an SX200 they must have been giving them away with breakfast cerial.

That LI turned out nice though, well done again.

  • Just looked at your other vids. All nice work. Back in the day I did have a GT200 for a while and of course I sold it on for £90 (i think). I sure wish I'd kept it..

  • funny you should say that,i had 4 scooters in my shed,2 gp200,sitalian of course ,one i paid 200 quid for the other i found dumped by the river thames in greenhithe ,i did that one up and nothing could touch it for speed after id done my magic ,the other 2 were li,s my dad used to go mad at me because he couldnt get into his shed anyway thats another pound for you lol

  • its a pleasure to behold.

my elder brother had a serie 2 Li 150.

    this was 1965 /66

one before your model and he rebuilt it with the engine in in his launch hours. he did the spraying at work. it brought back some memories I can tell you

  • + i never paid more than £250 for any scooter back then....i was a young mod and more interested in clothes. oh the pain of remembering those scooters....groan.

  • nice work. i had 5 scooters in my back garden back in 80/82, 4 lambrettas, an sx200, servetta pacemaker, li125, ld150 (i think) some ran, all needed light restoring, + a lambretta 100 cento mint, ran great...and an eddie grimsted lookalike vespa 180 ss, .....i moved out....and my dad GAVE them ALL away to the scrap man !!!!!!!!!! thinking i didnt want em....and i only paid £70 for the sx from an old fella up the road...im still very gutted.....bastard ! pains me to even think about it....

  • you give away about 35.000 grands worth ! ! doh .

  • Yeah, that's the music I'll be hearing in my head, as I pass you going 80 in my 25yo, just as rusty, Honda Rebel. Until I get smoked myself by someone with a Ninja ratbike doing 150 held together with duct tape and spot welds.

  • i wish i had the GPs and SXs i chopped in the 80s man. i could kick my self now. i remember giving SX panels away to the scrap man to make room in the shed, them were the days running italian lammys for a hundred quid , ,ha ha ha, pass me the rope ! ! just spent a fortune doing an AF replica GP200..

  • Inspirational video, full on 10 out of 10 for a perfect job. One of Innocenti's finest back to her best.

  • Nice job you have inspired me to do one now!!!

  • excellent!

    good luck, and thank you

  • great scoot, loved the song aswell

  • thank you, much appreciated

  • In 1971 purcased an li150 lambretta red/white had the time of my life .loved the 60s and 70s great video ,still remember the registration...GRK36D.. great times love to reminis take care and thanx 4 the memory..from kettering northants england

  • glad you enjoyed it.... and thanks for the comment

  • you may not remember, but i asked you a ? on here a year ago , it was your video that gave me the idea to do a restro ,,, cheers mate , just posted video , but the kids , recorded over some of it .. doh

  • that's a real compliment, thank you .. took a look at yours, you had a bit of a job on there, looks cracking, well done!

  • That just looks magic.

    So nice, great to see.

  • thank you, much appreciated

  • nice ,was the scooter fully blasted to remove all the old paint

  • thanks.. yes, the frame i had blasted, but the rest of the scooter was stripped with nitrmors by me....

  • did you change the panels at the end? or two sets??

  • the "sx" panels are fibreglass, and were just temporary while the standard ones were finished

  • cheers, read that in one of the earlier comments after posting.

    very nice job

  • fuckin magic

  • Really enjoyed that bud, Really well put together video m8, & the bike ! : )

  • Thanks for that .. although that was 4 years ago, and the scooter is starting to look a little tired now .. may well give it a makeover next year .. my latest resto is a 1970 GP which is coming together nicely now .. watch this space soon for another video!!

  • Got to swear, but thats fucking awesome my friend. i have only ever owned vespas, never been lucky enough to get a good lammy, i always fancied the GP200. This is a brilliand little video well done sir.

  • nice comments, much appreciated..

that rebuild was done 4 years ago, she's starting to look a bit tired now, plus it was my first, so it's in no way perfect, but i love it!!

    thanks again

    david

  • Great job Sir! Was it worth the effort and expense? Going to try doing the same thing if the right Lambretta presents itself.

  • Thank you ..

was it worth it? .. very much so ... the sheer satisfaction of doing it yourself and getting comments like yours is great

the expense? dig deep and dont tell the missus!

  • Cracking job mate do you do any of these meets? (e.g. Isle of Wight) went to that one this year and now I'm hooked. Looking forward to owning my own scooter and restoring it, nothing quite like it.

  • thanks for that..

havent done the IOW, but will next year...

good luck with yours, and take lots of pics, before, during and after!

  • Mate you gotta do it there's nothing quite like it A couple of questions if I may 1. I'm 16 comin on 17 & was wondering what kind of engine I could use (bear in mind i'm not technically minded but it doesn't stop me having a go & wanting to go reasonably quick!) 2. When changing gears can you catch onto it pretty quickly or not? 3. Any advice on where to get one on the cheap in reasonably good condish but I can still restore and put my own personal touch on? << Thats for anyone reading. Thanks.

  • Hi im going to sel my vfr nc30 after be coming a loan dad whont somthing safer but dont wont to loes my 2 wheels.. can i ask is it worth restoring or buying one thats in good condition.. how about they indian inports that are done by companys any thoughs and advice ..Andy ps great job and vid

  • if you enjoy restoring, then do it yourself, more satisfaction and you know what's gone in to it

as to the indian imports they vary in quality greatly, if you are going to get one, then speak to people on a website such as LCGB or WKFASC, my advise would be NOT to import one yourself, lots of possible issues with build quality and import duties, it's always easier to register a scooter that is from within the EU and there wont be the question of import duty etc

    good luck!

  • if only everyone to as much care and consideration as you in there classics. well done mate, bravo

  • Cracking job, what did you do to tidy engine casings up?? did you do any engine refurb or just slot it straight back in?

looks stunning, im on with a series 2 and series 3 at the moment.

  • hi, billy....

the engine was vapour blasted. i had it rebuilt by a local dealer .. not 100% happy with his work, though .. so now i do my own!

good luck with your rebuilds .. are thay gonna be bloo?

    twizzle

  • That's a great compliment from the birthplace of Lambretta, thank you

  • Dear friend you have done a fantastic job for your Lambretta.Roby from Italy

  • very nice

  • Good onya Great bikes to restore and enjoy from Downunder seeya mate

  • Good onya Great bikes to restore and enjoy from Downunder seeya mate

  • great work! nice song!

  • yes , cheap ebay bits didnt fit or , was poor what i got for my tv 175 , thanks for your reply , ps see you in about 10 years when i finsh this one lol

  • im just starting my own restro job ,a 66 spanish 150 special and i would like to know how much you manage to use a again , ie wire loom , hubs, brakes , another great job by the way

  • thanks for the comments .....

i used as many ols parts as possible, but i fitted electronic 12v ignition and renewed the wiring loom, as some of the wires were cracking up with age, and i repaced all the seals on front and back brakes, but reused the shoes as they were uncomtaminated and work fine ...

the engine was done by a dealer, but he bodged certain bits, so now i do my own, and i also learnt only to buy parts from trusted sources, some cheap ebay bits are not worth the money!

  • my sister who live in italy has just found me a li125 series 3 in fair nick i have just got to drive to italy from manchester to pick it up then the restoration can begin

  • would love to do that ... need a passenger??

    good luck!!

  • great job , nice soundtrack

  • great work dave! i have a li150 being restored by a friend in oz as we speak!! any helpful hints for a soon to be lambretta owner? cheers

  • thanks, rowanbruce ..... not too much to say, if your friend is doing the restore then all the hardwork is done .... must say the most enjoyable part was the restore for me ... but just be very proud, you will be riding an icon!! and treat her gently and dont expect to whizz around at 100mph!! enjoy!!

  • Fantastic Stuff, seriously impressed, what a beautifull Lambretta dave, would love to be able to do something like that

  • Nice work looks like it only took a couple of hours !!!

  • musical side panels!

  • ''''' and back lights!

  • nice im hoping i can get a 150 li as well.

  • Nice job. Love the chrome Lammy badges you've put on the Pacemaker panels.

  • wots with the different forks?beautiful job great soundtrack might get my lazyarse husband to get going on his gp thts been sat for 3 years in the shed since he had it stove enammelled!

  • thanks for the comments... but different forks?? not sure what you mean .....

  • great work lammydave,i almost want to get one again, hehehe.

I owned and retored loads of theses back in the eighty's,when you could still pick them up for twenty five pound's,not now,i hear.still you have inspired me to do,,,well something man, they never really worked verry well though, did they,I hate them, but, the vespa's always seemed faster, and more reliable to me,,,,,,rose tinted spec's maybe, heheheh,,,good work man,i am proud of you.

  • Lovely Job

    Brilliant

  • Beau montage et très belle restauration.

  • Hi Lammydave,

    I finally found it!

    Streetsleeper!!

  • Personally I liked the SX Panels more, but the originals the greatest, I think this video has done a great deal of help for some including me, thanks a lot!!

  • congratulations...really great job. I hope you enjoy the bike

  • Inspirational...I've got an italian Li sitting in the garage awaiting treatment and this has spurred me on. Lovely job.

  • that's a real compliment, thank you ... stick with the rebuild and take loads of pics ... i will keep an eye on youtube!

  • again nice job

  • Nice job you did there. It's better than new.

  • 2 sets of sidepanels? good work!

  • sx panels are fibreglass, they were just temporary as the standard panels were the last things to get sprayed, and i was getting impatient to get the scoot on the road!

  • what are they like the fibreglass panels i have a couple of sets of metal ones, but they need filling etc, would recomend fibre glass ones

  • the ones i have are fine, until you touch the panels, you wouldn't know the difference!

  • thanks,i have a sx i had for years i was interested in fibre glass panels as they don't rust. My panels look crap even though they are metal.
