    how about SD880

  • @bestamerica What about it??

  • Does this autofocus? On text and whatnot?

I'm considering getting this but I just got the FS300 camcorder and I just wanted a small camera that could shoot decent videos + pictures.

  • @cjx3pooh It does autofocus but not while shooting video, you have to stop recording and then set to macro if you want to shoot something up close. It pretty much will autofocus as you press down the shutter button to record but then its fixed on infinity unless you reset after stopping a record.

  • @GeekwGlasseslive Okay, thanks for replying :)

  • @cjx3pooh Anytime... happy to help

  • I've been using this camera since 6/09. It makes clear and audible videos, and is best done with a mini or full size tripod. I've gotten hundreds of photos on one 4G SD card. its surpassed my expectations.

  • @TheMacGuy2 Yea its a great little camera....only one improvement in my mind...give me an external mic port!!! :) Would be great for interviews!!! :) I love mine

  • @1993diego that all depends on how large your SD card is....if your talking about battery power I have never recorded so long that hte battery has died.

  • renders great hd video, but it's design looks so generic and cheap

  • @mmw21111 I like the simple easy to use design of the camera. It is also all metal other than the plasic rock arm for the control. Feel very sturdy in the hand to me. ;)

  • Hey would you recommend the SD780IS against SD940IS? Thanks in advance!

  • @Yourveryking Other then the 940 having a 2.7inch screen and no optical viewfinder there the exact same camera. The 940 took out the regular eye piece and with that gone they get a 2.7inch LCS vs a 2.5inch. So is .2inches worth an extra 30 bucks or so?? If so then go for the 940 you will also get a 4x zoom vs a 3x one the 780.

  • @Yourveryking They are basically the same exact camera other than the 940 does not have the view finder and the screen is a bit bigger due to it, and it has 4x zoom instead of 3x. Thats basically it but its over 100 bucks more. So in my book you save the money and spend it on a better memory card! ;)

  • What about the Canon Powershot SD780IS vs the Canon PowerShot SD1400 IS?

  • @conexionz The 1400 does not have an eye piece so the screen is 2.7vs2.5 inch. The 1400 has a few more built in shooting modes, other than that exactly the same...same sensor, same zoom, same lens. so unless you need some extra shooting save the money and get the 780.

  • @GeekwGlasseslive Thanks dude, I'm gonna get the SD780IS.

  • @conexionz Cool...you will love it! Glad I was able to help! ;)

  • @GeekwGlasseslive I know you already answered the question about the battery life, but what do you think the battery life would be if you were to use all day recording videos and taking pictures? Would a back up battery be necessary or is one Lithium ion Battery enough? Also is battery replacement easily available or over time we be harder to replace. Thanks for the review, b/c I'm really looking to purchase this camera.

  • @wgtrainer12 A backup battery is always a good idea if you plan to use the phone ALOT in video mode. You can get batteries for it online and at best buy for pretty cheap prob around 30 bucks or so. They are small so you can fit an extra in a case with the camera no prob!

  • hey would you recommend this (Canon SD780IS) or the Flip UltraHD? I've been having a dilemma and can't choose between the 2. And also since the canon shoots in mp4 format, when I convert it to use with WMM will I lose the HD? Thanks

  • @TheKhanhster You do not loose the resolution when you convert to another file format unless you choose to lower the output resolution. With that said I was doing the same research when I made my decision. I would pick the Canon based on the very similar price point but you also get a very very nice digital camera as well...with the flip your just getting a video cam! ;) Hope this helps

  • @GeekwGlasseslive what about the kodak zi8 vs canon sd780?

  • @TheKhanhster As for video the SD780 does a better job with its HD since it has a true sensor in it..you wont see the jiggles when you move it around like you will in the Zi8. However teh Zi8 has a mic port if you plan to mic your subjects! But over all I also was looking at the Zi8s video performance and I think the 780 is a better over all...again you get the camera as well...

  • @GeekwGlasseslive ok thank you! i really appreciate it!

  • What's the battery life

  • @Mcstay2 It all depends on how much you shoot, how much flash and how much video you use it for. But for the most part I charge it every two weeks.

  • Nice camera. Have to look into those Nintendo DS screen shields for my cameras

  • Yea there worth it. I have them on my DLSR, HD camcorder, my old sony point and shoot, my zune...so on and so fourth! ;) Watch the video again after it processes in HD its pretty nice!
