Judging by the hydrostatic shock clearly shown on impact, the 410 slug is not only well above 1200 fps, it obviously expands dramatically, otherwise the watermelon would not explode as it did.
The 410 slug definitely performs well out of the Judge; it dramatically outperforms much of the 9mm, .40 and 45 JHP's I've personally tested from Auto-pistols.
I go hiking quite often... and where I live.... it's not that rare to see a large bear. I want to carry a handgun with me just to be safe. Is this a powerful enough handgun to stop a bear?
@Jman32183 With the right loads at the right distance. Yes, I would feel comfortable. You can load either 45 long colt or of course .410 shot shells. You can get buckshot loads or slugs if you choose .410 to defend yourself. Of course, I have no experience in fending off large bears so, check around for more info.

You can use the small game load if a venomous snake pops out.. the buckshot for rabid coyote attacks n such, and the 45 for bear stopping power... i put one game load, 2 buckshot, and 3 bear stoppers... Then you're ready for just about anything within range....

looks like a fun gun but for its size and stopping power you might as well just get a 357 magnum snub which has twice the power of a 410 slug. but if you like a cool gun I'd add this to my collection. And I aim on doing that,

And It was out of what I have a ruger sp101 which is actually 2.25" beleive it or not the .25 can mean 100 fps. and that's a 140 gains vs 90 grain in 410 slug

im displeased with the 410 slug...i shot frozen 32 oz powerade bottles and the slug didnt exit on 3 attempts ...my glock 32 357 sig did!!! you shouldnt buy a pistol just for snakes unless you live in a snake pit...i have a single shot 410 for that..its fun to shoot for awhile with different things but its to heavy for ccw and not a good defense weapon for me now..will trade mine soon....

From the 3" Judge barrel, the 410 slug is just barely hitting 1200 fps, and only weighs 90 - 100 grains, which is a bit less powerful than a 9mm. The Colt shits all over that.
@Cliner98 I was able to compare the 410 000 and the PDX1 this past weekend. The 410 000 - was very unrealable - 3 shots all over the target. The PDX1 - the three copper flat slugs where right in the grouping - The PDX does have a load of BB's right behind it that will cause collateral damage. However, this is one of my home defense gun. I will have home improvements after using it ..God forbid - to defend myself but I don't think the intruder will be getting up and that is most important. Thanks

I have the Judge 3" barrel and I shoot 410 2 1/2" 4 shot - very effective at 10ft - matter of fact my target at 10 feet had a fist size hole in it. For the more powerful effect - I use 45 Colt 225 grain semi-wadcutter Hollow point...more powerful and less recoil. To say the least, there would not be much left of an intruder. I have shot up to 25 feet with great accuracy.
I have a CHL and carry a Springfield XD as my carry gun and use the Judge for home use. The Judge is SWEET and deadly!!
The 410 is puny, nothing like a 44 mag or 45 Colt. A 410 slug weighs about 90 grains, from a 3" barrel it might do 1100 fps or so, less powerful than a 9mm. Why people think the 410 is some big deal is confounding. The Judge is just not that great an idea. Sort of shitty really.

ahem......410 slugs are .39 caliber, weigh 90 grains, and from the short Judge barrel might barely break 1000 fps. In other words it's almost a ballistic twin to the .380 ACP.
@zchris87v The .45acp is smaller but is not "toned-down" The .45 colt was originally introduced as a blackpowder cartridge and as such has lowed SAAMI approved pressures than post black powder cartridges. In short a 45acp bullet of the same mass as a .45 colt will have a higher velocity and higher energy.
@bubba55l You are correct but I would like to add that when entering the +P category the long colt wins hands down and I do understand you are referring to the basic factory loads where the acp has equal or better performance.
@f1171615 Of couse the revolver in the video is not rated for .45LC+P.
(To my knowledge, there are only 4 +P calibers recognized by SAAMI: 9mm Luger, 38spl, 38 Super Auto, and 45ACP.) While there are a few manufacturers who market 45LC+P, it is usually for a limited number of specifically identified revolvers and lever-action rifles,)
@bubba55l That's what makes the judge so versatile. With moon clips you can shoot 45acp or with inserts you can shoot .22 rim fire. And don't forget a variety of .410.

Instead of the slugs then just go with the .45 Colt it's FAR MORE powerful than the anemic 410 slug.
From the 3" Judge barrel, the 410 slug is just barely hitting 1200 fps, and only weighs 90 - 100 grains, which is a bit less powerful than a 9mm. The Colt shits all over that.

@Cliner98 I was able to compare the 410 000 and the PDX1 this past weekend. The 410 000 - was very unrealable - 3 shots all over the target. The PDX1 - the three copper flat slugs where right in the grouping - The PDX does have a load of BB's right behind it that will cause collateral damage. However, this is one of my home defense gun. I will have home improvements after using it ..God forbid - to defend myself but I don't think the intruder will be getting up and that is most important. Thanks

I have the Judge 3" barrel and I shoot 410 2 1/2" 4 shot - very effective at 10ft - matter of fact my target at 10 feet had a fist size hole in it. For the more powerful effect - I use 45 Colt 225 grain semi-wadcutter Hollow point...more powerful and less recoil. To say the least, there would not be much left of an intruder. I have shot up to 25 feet with great accuracy.
I have a CHL and carry a Springfield XD as my carry gun and use the Judge for home use. The Judge is SWEET and deadly!!

The 410 is puny, nothing like a 44 mag or 45 Colt. A 410 slug weighs about 90 grains, from a 3" barrel it might do 1100 fps or so, less powerful than a 9mm. Why people think the 410 is some big deal is confounding. The Judge is just not that great an idea. Sort of shitty really.

ahem......410 slugs are .39 caliber, weigh 90 grains, and from the short Judge barrel might barely break 1000 fps. In other words it's almost a ballistic twin to the .380 ACP.

@zchris87v The .45acp is smaller but is not "toned-down" The .45 colt was originally introduced as a blackpowder cartridge and as such has lowed SAAMI approved pressures than post black powder cartridges. In short a 45acp bullet of the same mass as a .45 colt will have a higher velocity and higher energy.

@f1171615 Of couse the revolver in the video is not rated for .45LC+P.
(To my knowledge, there are only 4 +P calibers recognized by SAAMI: 9mm Luger, 38spl, 38 Super Auto, and 45ACP.) While there are a few manufacturers who market 45LC+P, it is usually for a limited number of specifically identified revolvers and lever-action rifles,)

@bubba55l That's what makes the judge so versatile. With moon clips you can shoot 45acp or with inserts you can shoot .22 rim fire. And don't forget a variety of .410.
