WW2 is a long story. Which is why Britain lost it's Empire. Without the USA aid, Germany would have won. Japan attacked after US sanctions left no choice. The rest is history.

In WW2 d-day would of been impossible to launch if Britain had fallen and also Britain's navy kept the Germans at bay. They also played a critical role in defeating the Japanese as much or if not more than the USA. Britain also gave aid to Russia and china.

@Hendishness have u ever heard of the funny old thing called the British Empire??? we had many countries in Asia in our empire and the japs invaded some of them, My great granddad fought in Burma against the japs, he survived, but i know many tales of the poor soul's who did not. WW2 is a long story. The brits kept Australia from getting into jap hands, and halted the jap advance through mainland asia, the japs wanted to link up with Hitler in Russia to cut off oil from the allies etc.

@MattRowland95 The USA had been secretly helping Britian with aid both finacially and militarilly and Atlantic surveillance since at least early 1940. Churchill went cap in hand to Rossevelt after Dunkirk and begged the USA to join the war as did the Soviet Union. The price which was repaid in 2006 around £5 billion to the USA and Canada. Which is why Britain lost it's Empire. Without the USA aid, Germany would have won. Japan attacked after US sanctions left no choice. The rest is history.

Germany looked on the Soviet Union as a far greater threat in fact Hitler did not want a war with Britain and offered peace several times. How could France Norway and Poland help their governments were in exile in Britain? .The only reason India Australia and N Zealand were in the war was because they were in the Empire.

@Truthwillout1001 In WW1 they played a vital role in winning the war not just against Germany but also her allies, Turkey etc. Britain mainly used her navy to do this but also by conscripting a vast British and empire troop army task force.
In WW2 d-day would of been impossible to launch if Britain had fallen and also Britain's navy kept the Germans at bay. They also played a critical role in defeating the Japanese as much or if not more than the USA. Britain also gave aid to Russia and china.

@Hendishness it was partly winter, but that was only because the military planners were irresponsible and thought the invasion would be over by winter, but it was also the soviet union, because they developed new and much more effective tactics to fight the Germans, But also because The Germans could not use the Blitzkrieg tactics when capturing Stalingrad, Basically the campaign took too long and the Germans were unprepared. It was Hitler's fault for launching the invasion in the first place.

Reading through some of these comments the hostility between american and british people is ridiculous. The Americans have more troops and better funding. Soldier to soldier the british have better trained troops. Us military selection 8-12 weeks UK 10 months. Regardless of this we would get hammered by the US by their overwhelming numbers.
