  • I made a song using the melody from this tutorial. You guys should check it out, it's called "Lifted"

  • Do everything upto + including the reverb, drop it down a key or 2, voila! Instant Deadmau5 lead;D

  • nice man i never thought to use the macro that way

  • this is amasing, thank you

  • 3:55 jizz!

  • damn this sound is special

  • why cant you just put the file download in the description id loveeee that

  • Awesome Too man!

  • SUBBED!

  • PIMPIN, YOU JUST OPEN MY EYES

  • Dude, on behalf of all of us i just want to thank you for putting all of this up :] its a huge help :D

  • Hey man, awesome stuff. Just wanna say thanks for putting all this great material out. Just a small piece of feedback: if you put the end result of the tutorial at the beginning, it'll save people from wasting their time to see if that's the type of synth they want. Don't get me wrong though, I have yet to find a sound of yours that I haven't wanted to try out for myself :P

  • i subscribed a long time before and i've learned a lot of your tutorials. Yust wanted to thank you, for the time youre bringing up for this videos! I would be extremly intrested if made a massive trancy lead like Geminis ones

  • REALLY COOL TIP: I find I usually turn macro 2 off on the release on envelope 4 and then turn release all the way down. Try it. It gives a more Powerful Sound!

  • Quick question, but does anyone know the automation name for the Envelope filter 1 to get it to increase as an automation clip? or is that even possible in FL studio?

  • @theDjAranea I dont think you can make an automation clip in FLSTUDIO for anything thats not a native plugin to FL. But you can just record the knob movments man. ..Rewiring to Abelton Live is the way to go imo.

  • @problemmchild actually yes you can. if you click on the little arrow on massive and click detached, and then make editor thumbnail A new thing under Generators called Fruity Wrapper(Massive) will pop up. Click that to open it and it will have a list of every control in massive. Just right click on the knobs in massive to see what they are called, then make automation clips accordingly. Cheers.

  • Nice tut man what notes were you playing

  • You are a god man thank you!

  • What's the song at the beginning?

  • okay please people help me, i havnt used massive before and i go into ableton and double click on massive and it goes into arrangement view, then it opens up and i do exactly as he does, but hardly anything changes. what am i doing wrong,, and how does he keep that 4 bars of notes playing as he builds upon it????

  • @Cardfold11 DERP

  • @Cardfold11 To have the notes keep playing in Ableton's Session View, create a loop however long you want and input the notes on the track with Massive on it. Activate the track and it loops. Tweak settings in Massive as it plays. In Session View, create your desired notes in the track with Massive on it, move the loop parameters around your clip and arm the loop button up top. Hit play and it will loop. Then tweak your settings in Massive as it plays

  • @BackToTheFutrell okay thank you, but the main problem is that when i try to adjust any of the oscillators they dont change the sound of the note.

  • how do you cut off the sound when you put it in your playlist, the sounds still plays well after the pattern is finished

  • Comment removed

  • @SteezTracks how did you get massive to play the sounds automatically!?

  • @BadReAcTioNz Place notes in the piano roll, click on play, then you can change the settings with the sound :)

  • dude this is a realyl nice tut. . keep making more>>maybe one about how to create a nice trance pad:)

  • omg i knew this sounded like gold dust before i read the description

  • @Flstudz no problem

  • @Flstudz if you click the little down arrow in the top left corner of massive than detatched and move it up the whole of massive will be visible

  • this is a great tutorial, im definitely gonna play around with this some!

  • when i put it into my song, with the macro 2 on the max., it keeps going when the sound stops, how can i make it stop without having to put the macro down?

  • thanks

  • OMG love it <3

  • this f*cking rules! thank you so much! =D

  • got the program and a keyboard but no midi cable -.- *facepalm*

  • can you sent the preset to me? its so awesome...

  • @FlexWolfOfficial just follow the steps in the video and you can make it yourself. lol =P

  • I'd love the preset for the beginning sound :)

  • awesomeeeeee

  • this was amazing by itself

  • How did you get it to glide between notes? i can get the sound but i cant get it to move between, its all hard cutoff type stabs

  • @rehtrem nvm figured it out

  • Brilliant!

  • Nice tut man, good sounds

  • this is sooooooooo sweet x

  • anyone reminded of datsik - mechano?

  • When you slide up the macro control 2, demonstrating it manually, how do I set it to a gradual slide up automatically?

Loving the vids, great help, cheers.

  • @DanielCroninMusic I've been wondering this too if anybody has any help on this topic.

  • @DanielCroninMusic @mmosbacher1 yea i wanna know that too... so smart people give us answers

  • @DanielCroninMusic You have to use an automation clip. I know in FL Studio you go to the side bar and go to Current Project>Generators>Massive (or whatever it is named) and then find the effect you need to make the automation clip for. If you right click on anything in Massive, it will show a name of that given effect. Look for that name in the sidebar.

    Cheers.

  • @DanielCroninMusic

In FL studio you can click the little options box on the VST and click make editor thumbnail. Expand the thumbnail thing that pops up in the browser and find the name of the macro. Right click it and select "Create automation clip" You should now have an automation clip you can edit in the arrangement window. Grab the point at the end and it will slowly go up. Good luck!

  • @DanielCroninMusic In logic you should be able to map the macro to the automation. Then you can map out how you want the cutoff to work.

  • @DanielCroninMusic Automate that specific parameter in whatever program you are using to put together your arrangments. Or assign that specific parameter to be controlled by an envelope within MASSIVE.

  • @DanielCroninMusic just automate it in ableton

  • @DanielCroninMusic if you are working in ableton, on the right of the tracks in the arrangement view one of the windows will allow you to go into massive and after you click on what you want to play with (macro 2 in this case), itll be open on the arrangement view as a red line. double click on the line to create an automation mark and that is a joint that allows you to draw it out.

  • @DanielCroninMusic Automation in your DAW. You should definitely look it up in your DAW's manual, automation is the key to so much fun. :-)

In Cubase I do the following:

    - Right-click Massive track and choose "Show automation"

    - By default it shows automation for "Volume". Click on it and choose "More" from the drop-down.

    - Expand the "Massive" folder and choose your macro controller. (They're basically just named "1", "2", "3" and so on.)

    - Draw automation with f.ex. the line tool.

  • @DanielCroninMusic in FL you can right click it and see what the knob is called, Macro control 2 is called "2" so then click the arrow in the top left corner of massive then click "Make editor thumbnail" then it'll open the sidebar in the left, expand the one called "The name of the synth you have in massive" then right click "2'' and click "create automation clip"

  • @YeeyayHeartsDUB any tutorials for this? i find alot of tutorials on automation but no one that does this..

  • @YeeyayHeartsDUB omfg thank you for this. hahah useful info xD

  • @DanielCroninMusic You would need to set up automation for the track Massive is a plug-in on in your DAW.

(If you use Logic hit A on your key board and it will come up with an area that says "volume" next to your track name. Click and hold "volume" to change it to which ever macro you would like to assign it to under the Massive tab and record over your original MIDI while controlling your macros.)

  • @DanielCroninMusic You have to use a parameter to automate it, depending on what DAW your using it will be different.

  • @OfficialFadermouth mind explaining how to do that? lol

  • @somers10 it means he's not using massive as a standalone, rather hes loaded it as a vst into a DAW and plugged some notes in.

  • @DanielCroninMusic what DAW do u use?

  • @DanielCroninMusic You have to do it inside your DAW, (i.e.) ableton. I do a quick tutorial on how to do it on my channel ;)

  • @DanielCroninMusic In case nobody has answered yet, just manually tweak the macro knob a little (doesn't matter how) then go up to Tools->Last Tweaked->Create automation clip

  • @DanielCroninMusic You can use your DAW just write some automation

  • @DanielCroninMusic automation clips. look it up for your DAW.

  • @DanielCroninMusic You can midi learn your mouses' jog wheel if you want. If thats a concept your having trouble with i wish you more luck and learning on your path to what you wish to make. HAVE FUN!

  • @DanielCroninMusic what you could do is set your daw to record the wav file from the midi that way you can just press record and do it manually and you end up with a nice wav file of the transition.

  • @DanielCroninMusic probably need like a mixer and like record it live

  • @DanielCroninMusic mess around with it then go to tools, last tweaked, (it should just say 2), then create an automation clip

  • i lurv ur tutorials cuz u make such better sounds and patches than all the other tutorial guys on utube

  • 3:35 dreamin on beautifull world :X thanks ! respect nice!

  • 0:42 that is where the magic happens. :D

  • r u using only massive or ableton ?

  • i wouldn't be surprised if you got a partnership if you kept uploading

  • you are god !! :D really helpfull videos, thank you very much, crazy lil genius)

  • I nearly fell asleep at 1:20 cause it's so damn peaceful! Good job man!

  • dude this was awesome! also its mad how you wrote down how to perform the sound at the end of the video.... no trolls ftw ey? :P

  • sikness!! CAN YOU UPLOAD SOME PRESETS?!!?!

  • @futuresoundzstudios try making your own?

  • asjhtsjklgn!!!! awesome

  • in your tuts you should release the .ksd files.

  • Comment removed

  • to be completely honest, that was fuckin sexy lol

  • dude you are aaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwesome! :O

  • your using just massive right not fruity loops or ableton or anything and can u like map the sounds you make to a keyboard or say an apc40 ?

  • @DJKrator I have an APC20 and i can use it in note mode, not sure about the 40, but in massive (standalone) go to the 'File' tab, then go to 'Audio & Midi Settings' Hit 'MIDI' at the end and then the Inputs Tab, then make Sure 'Akai APC40' is On, if its off, right click it and click On, Hope that helped, in helpful made and this synth lifted my dreary mood :D Such a nice sound hah!

  • @TheOfficialInception thanks dude that really helps alot ha i think ima get this later date and get traktor pro 2 for now and play live shows for some money lol

  • @iiPOiZoNeii I had the same problem. You have to delete the native instruments database.Go to computer/users/default user/application data and then find the native instruments folder and then delete the database.open massive again and itl ask you to create a new databse.FIN!

  • @iiPOiZoNeii Search for your Appdata file. Them go to "Temp" then "Native Instruments" and then "Massive" and delete the folder that says "NIMassiveDataBase" or something like that. You hafta do that every once in a while.

  • thanks men this lead is helping me to make an amazing remix youll hear it in a week !

  • @iiPOiZoNeii had the same problem, got an old version to work after a while.

  • Note: if you want to make a minor chord, pitch the THIRD oscillator to 3.00 instead of 4.00

  • @iiPOiZoNeii if Windows 7/Vista, go to [your user name]>AppData (hidden folder)>Local>Native Instruments> Massive and delete the file NIMassiveDataBase_ul. It recreates itself everytime you open Massive, don't worry.

Sources: youtube and it worked for me.

@ChaosturnMusic it seems the uploader already knows stuff about chords, since he intentionally put 4 st. So he probably knew that.

Note: 12 st is an octave.

  • @TasmanianPower hehe, yes, i think so too, but i just posted it for the public :) i actually made a song with this synth! it's just a preview so far :) soundcloud [DOT] com/chaosturn/chaosturn-did-you-expect

  • @ChaosturnMusic how about you learn irony and not spread spam everwhere?

    How does that sound?

  • Comment removed

  • What is the synth you use for the intro song?

  • Subbed, i would like a preset in pm, LOVED your attitude.

I would like to also hear a track of yours if there is one.

And the suggested sounds is Scary monsters and nice sprites Lead & Lead's Bass & one of the drop basses.(Although you should note he used FM8 by Native Instruments and not Massive for atleast one of those)

  • @iiPOiZoNeii find it out on google there is a way ;)

  • OH MY FREAKING GOODNESS. I've been looking for a tutorial for this for ages o_o I'm subscribing.

  • @iiPOiZoNeii late response, but if you're on windows. google how to show hidden folders, go to your login name/app data/local and delete the native instruments folder. some kind of temp data gets corrupt from time to time in there. i.e. mine is c:/users/joe/app data/local/native instruments

  • Fuck me that is awesome. Thx so very much dude. Gonna fire up ma fruitay XXL right now.

  • 3:55 does anyone know how to do this as an automation clip? I've been trying to figure out how to do it but I can't and that makes me sad.

  • Sir you are a god.

  • Comment removed

  • @iiPOiZoNeii not sure if anyone has fixed your NI Massive problem, but if you go into AppData local folder, go to your native instruments folder, and then the Massive folder, delete the NImassiveDatabase file, it fixes it. If it's torrented then it will do this occasionally. it may sound counterproductive to do this, but it is the solution

  • so i have followed the steps but it came out a little different, on yours you seem to have a "glide"? sound effect on the end of each note changing the pitch.

was this due to a pitch wheel on your midi controler? or some type of automation within massive?

  • Thanks bro.

  • Does anyone know what program this is and how to get it??? Cause I wanna get darted on some dubstep of my own if ya know what I mean?

  • @iiPOiZoNeii Delete the NIMassiveDataBase file located in C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Native Instruments\Massive

  • Love the tutorials have u got a pack of patches we could dowload ?? (for free if we like your facebook page or subscribe ?? :D keep up the good work :D

  • how do u make the synth and/or bass wobble in caspa's "back for hte first time"?

  • dude, thanks a lot man, this is the one perfect sound i was looking for

    thanks if you can help

  • @iiPOiZoNeii Buy it it wont crash

  • @Ingurn lol i can fix that im pro at all that i have 1.1.4 and it crashes like once every 2 weeks but it takes 2 secs to fix lol i have no problem with it. but i cant find where to DL the new one :(

how much is it anyway? like 50 bucks or what

  • @clifford1122 ye its around 60 $

  • @Ingurn lol i found the it and torrented it

thanks steez your patches will do wonderfully in my tracks :D

    Bass Bocs Out!

look me up on soundcloud if anyones interested in bassy shit

  • I really'd like to work with massive, it's incredibly powerfull.

Sadly, as hobbyist my software-budget is rather small :/

  • nice thanks amte, helped alot ! =) subed

  • @iiPOiZoNeii already told ya, use it offline

  • @iiPOiZoNeii ya you have to delete the database file in app data under native instruments

  • Could we download a midi file of this by any chance? great tutorial :)

  • @iiPOiZoNeii use it offline

  • Deadmau5? Is that you?

  • @iiPOiZoNeii delete ni massive data base that should do it :) go to run tipe appdata find native ins.

  • WOOOWW Thank you sooo much man

  • @iiPOiZoNeii the problem is NIMassivedatabase file, delete it, then massive will recreate your database, and it will work again just fine. do the same if it starts crashing again. file is located: C:/Users/(your name)/AppData/Local/Native Instruments/Massive

  • Comment removed

  • @iiPOiZoNeii what are the specs on ur computer? it just might be eating up to much cpu. try it in econ mode.

  • @iiPOiZoNeii go to appdata look up massive, open it and delete the second file down. then try it and see if it works

  • WTF WTF WTF WTF fucking random, but I'm currently writing a song with the EXACT same melody as the intro this melody in the same key and everything, I actually checked I didn't have Live open when the vid started. You haven't used that melody in a release have you?????? I'm not even kidding, completely identical pitch and rhythm.

  • @fluffjelly hang on a sec, isn't also the melody of a lead loop sample in a vengeance pack as well? hmmmmmmm

  • y dont i have massive in my plugins HELP?

  • @iiPOiZoNeii tHIS IS THE WAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM!!! : go to C:\Users\....\AppData\Local\Native Instruments\Massive and delete the: NIMassiveDatBase_ul file every time it crashes ;)

  • I LOVE YOU <3

  • I complain about seeing...

  • benga - ho

    !!!!!!! love this sound!

  • Do you know how to do the more..buzzy sound? er. Trumpety? It's like this synth, but, i cant figure out how to do it. It's the synth that answers the bass in this vid

    /watch?v=PEbJ4qLiMu0&feature=relmfu

  • Uhh. When i play the synth, not the plucked-sounding one, it never ends D:,

Do you know how to fix?

  • SOOO frickin lucky i found this vid..

  • @iiPOiZoNeii Delete the database fle.

  • Thanks for this. It tought me a lot about making that Deadmau5ish sound with massive!

  • AMAZANNNNN!

  • I subscribed.

    You're tutorials are very good.

  • <3

  • @iiPOiZoNeii is it torrented?

  • @SteezTracks Nahh i fixed it. Thanks Though !

  • @SteezTracks First off, great video. I have a question that I haven't been able to find yet and I was hoping you could help me out. That modulator thing the (yellow number two) that controls the decay or whatever; is it possible to automate that? I use Ableton w/ Massive and i can't make the decay sound automatically decay without turning that number 2 knob manually. Is there a way or do I have to control all eq from a midi controller? thanks!

  • @TheChippyRick not eq. effects i meant.

  • @SteezTracks so does it really affect the capacity of massive, or reaktor, or bla when you dont pay for it? do you know why?

  • @SteezTracks only cracked version have that :D

  • @SteezTracks with mine i always have to press stop for the sound to stop. and i have to like click out of it to hear the sound again

  • That melody you made is awesome

  • Mine doesnt have a rythm or anything

  • @Xadanar that's for you to make. were you expecting the tutorial to make the song for you?

  • @saxopwned indeed...try pressing A4-A
