@Caligula42 A head coach can't be expected to make a Wolfgang Puc type meal if the ingredients his GM has handed him are not worthy of feeding to a stray dog. Rod was no great coach, but the Lions years of misery were overwhelmingly more than any other reason the result of terrible personnel decisions made year after year by the most incompetent GM in NFL history, classless Matty Millen. It would be difficult to intentionally try to draft as poorly as Millen did over a number of years.
