Huh... I wonder if anyone has tried that. Make a life size, anotomically correct Gigantopithicus robot that can walk realistically and then try to recreate the Patterson footage with that to see if it matches. They've done it time and again with people and showed it doesn't work, the knees bend wrong, the stride is to long, the flesh doesn't bunch or flex as you would expect from a suit.
thats okay. i didnt mean to offend i was just a little disapointed thats all. It is cool that it can move at all. Most museums i go to dont have anything like this.
@dragonfly9196 Sorry to say that I actually put this feature in and the San Diego Museum of man Didn't even want this feature. If it was up to me I would have had the head moving mouth and lips eating and the head and neck movement designed to look like its actually watching you while it is eating on the bamboo etc.
I've heard it said that the proportions of this ape were comparable to a polar bear. When our scrawny Homo erectus ancestors encountered this bruiser, I suspect they turned tail and ran!
Bigfoot doesn't match anything, people are looking for something between three and fifteen foot tall, with either black, white, red or brown hair, either humanlike or apelike and eyes either black or glowing red, green, yellow. Oh yeah you can identify the tracks which can have two to six toes.
Same for Alma, Yowie, Yeren and other wildmen including the Yeti which describes a blue bear, a gibbon and a unknown homnid of varying proportions.
It does match Bigfoot descriptions well. Maybe crossed the Bering Strait (originating in South-East Asia), with remnant populations surviving. Nature has a way of amazing us.
There's no proof that they're extinct, actually. That's just what Science says. I tend to think these creatures somehow survived, and it's these things people are seeing when they claim they saw Bigfoot.
I would have had many motions and animations added if the client requested it. The client ( S.D. Museum of Man) Wanted a static version as their budget warranted to that scale. Too bad it would have been a great display with walking capabilities!!
I think it would be awesome to see a life sized robot version of the Castelnau giant. That would scare the crap out of people.

I personally feel that Meganthropus wasn't any larger than the biggest specimens of Heidelberg man from Africa who may have exceeded 7 feet.

Apparently the males may have been 9 to 10 feet tall when on two legs. The biggest ones maybe stood 11 or 12 I imagine. that's huge.

I have Weidenreich's 1946 book on Gigantopithecus and Meganthropus.
Was Giganto mostly a knuckle walker or do you think he could have been bipedal as some like Dr. Krantz, and Mark A. Hall believe?

I love your use of the exotic flute-music, very fitting for something about a jungle-dwelling ape

I hope his penis is visible like the other realistic models at the SD museum.

That's scary alright.
Now imagine a tribe of guys taller than him who wielded 50 lbs axes. That would be Neolithic France.

this is the biggest ape to ever walk the earth, a close relative to humans, there is some evidence suggesting it walked upright.
