  • Loveall of Sweet, but this is the best fuckin' song from of their collection. Love it!

  • No they were not but they were probably one of the most underrated bands of there time. Timeless stuff for sure.

  • Greathes Hits of the 70s

  • I remember I won this lp from a Providence, RI radio station back in the 70s, and being mesmerized by some of the songs on it (not this one so much) But another song at the end that kept repeating "Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta."

  • i am a man and i admit Brian is very good looking

  • @tobiman66

Maybe..but he was looking a little fat in the face here...too many pies!

  • i just wanted to say also that the beatles were very good and well respected, but sweet acheived things in music that they did not, we music lovers owe a lot to this group. just to cap it of, if you want to talk about the best singers of all time, well who called really argue that brian connolly was not one of the very best, to be honest, only freddie mercury was better. rest in peace brian. we will always love you and adore sweet.

  • @SuperBigbill2

Interesting statement...what did Sweet achieve that The Beatles didn't?

  • hi , just to verify what sweet acheived that the beatles did not and this is they went through three generations of music and were sucessful right through out. they started of as a bubblegum band, then they were a clam rock band, then finally a rock band or a stadium band. no group has or will never acheive that. dont get me wrong, i love the beatles, got all of there albums, but sweet were my first and real love for music. brian connolly is up there with lennon and mercury.

  • @SuperBigbill2 Did I just read your comment: the Beatles were very good and well respected...and then followed that by Sweet acheived things that the Beatles didn't? Not sure what you are referring to but keep in mind you you ARE comparing Sweet with The freakin BEATLES!! The greatest band of all time!!...And I love Sweet's music.

  • @fpa10tbolt hi freind. i have just answered this question about sweet compared to the beatles. what it is they went through three generations of music and were sucessfull through out. they started of asa bubblegum band, then they were a glam rock band, then they became a rock band. no group has ever acheived that. i do love the beatles, got most of there records, but sweet i have loved and reapected since i was 8 years old, i am now 47. they will always be respected and really missed

  • what a fantastic group sweet were, i adored them, we will never see the likes of brian, andy, steve and mick ever again. i can tell you so much about this group, i have followed them since i first fell in love with there music back in 1972. i was 8 then, i am now 47 and still after all these years, they still make me want to get up and put my high heal shoes on, that of course was the fashion back then. just for all of you that dont know, this group went through 3 generations of music.

  • so much facial hair in the 70s...but fantastic vocals as well!!

  • I was a sophomore in HS when this came out, this at the time was more pop than rock and roll but we listened, girls loved it. What a great time to grow up, great Rock and Roll, no cell phones, no BS..........

  • I forgot how perfect this song is. Timeless.

  • My very first FAVORITE song!!!

  • incredible performance.... vocals are spot on. brilliant song

  • Sheer brilliance! One of the greatest tracks of all time!

  • love is like assholgyn you get too much you get all shit. not enough and your gonna spit. Assholes give you shit.

  • look it up on youtube

  • thebtownstudios

  • I agree this one of the best Sweet songs and Brian has an incredible voice that resonates how good and underrated this band really was. They were really ahead of their time if you look at all the B side songs and not just at the Nicky/Chapman pop although some of it was right for the day. I have looked at SWEET songs and videos and my 13 year old son who is learning how to play guitar and drums and said Dad who were these guys they are awesome.

Amazed he asked me that, very cool indeed!

  • @comprepservices this sounds like ELO . were they associated ?

  • If this band was a Glam-Rock band, they don't look like one in this. The look like a regular band in this performance. If you want to know, I like the tune.

  • @kja427

It was 1978..Glam Rock was dead..it died with Marc Bolan in 1977.

  • COITADO DO BATERISTA SUFOCANDO COM A FUMAÇA =/

  • Take it Andy Scott and Mick Tucker had left by this point ?

  • @johnnyM809

    Where?

  • I hate the term jumped the shark but they jumped the Air Supply.

  • So much style. So much awesomeness.

  • this in my opinion was sweets best song and youre all right Brian died too soon a bit like his relative Mark McManus they had a genetic heart problem shame xxxx RIP

  • Musicians dont make these kinds of music anymore. What a pity! Such a lovely song and band!

    RIP Brian

  • thats how prevalant drugs were at the time, the way they sold you the idea of love is by telling you that it's like drugs. must have been awesome.

  • Super!

  • RIP Brian and Mick you guys must have died of lack of love!

  • Amazing to go from progressive rock to hard rock, thats how you know there rock and roll!!

  • OXYGEN IS LOVE !

  • Glorious Glam Rock! Brian went too soon such vocals..............

  • OMG I was sooo young when this came out. I loved these guys...I love the music from this era. It's crazy and wonderful but there are kids out there that love this stuff still!!!

  • @intuantu Yum yum yummy yum

  • great song

  • This is faggy.

  • @snowymountainface you would know

  • Love is like Oxygen yeah!! Love ittttt

  • crap song....

  • this was right before the breakup and I cant figure why Steve kept smiling?

  • @dmuse1981 Steve must have thought it was a joke =/ by the looks of it he wasnt taking it very seriously.

  • It was joke to to them. their guitars were not plugged in. I loved it when he started tapping with his right hand and jumped over his fretting hand @ 2:43!

  • My first childhood memory. You are a legend Brian

  • i'm 14 ....

  • Thumbs up if you once had a girlfriend who couldn't stop playing this song, singing along while gazing in your eyes...

  • The summer of '78...great memories

  • The summer of '78...great memories

  • This is great , love it .

  • @beowulven Brian looks better than you!

  • @dmuse1981

    Not now.

  • Brian was too good looking to leave us so soon.

  • classic is king & like all kings some want to de-thrown them but like all the time you cant keep the king down dont like it, oh well cant argue. without classic you wouldnt have ur music

  • O Jacaré Banguela te trouxe aqui? xD

  • Brian is so nice looking here! beautiful voice !

  • gay

  • @ChuckaXr That's an insult?

  • I like to listen this song for meaning of the power of love.

  • Always loved this song....always seems sad to me as if the band new it was their last hit or something.

  • Brian's put on a bit of weight there. All the hard living got to him in the end and he died young. RIP.

  • I play this song when I'm choking myself with my auto-erotic asphyxiation kit.

  • Love gets you high?

  • Love Love Love this song Brian was the best !!!!!!

  • I saw Steve Priest and his North American Line up of Sweet.. I wish I could have seen sweet in there Prime. And I wish I could have met Brian :(

  • amazing singer!!!

  • reminds me of when I was in high school, it was cool when the word cool didn't even exist! ;-)

  • pure glam rock

  • My favourite band as a kid. Brian has fair put on a few pounds here. There's a horrible interview with him when he talks about them getting back together again and he is totally wasted. A wreck of a man. Poor guy. God bless ya Brian.

  • You Get so much you get too high! <3

  • Sweet.

  • Brian is so cute in this video, the booze was causing weight gain, so sad he had to die the way he did and suffered so much.

  • I Was Made for Loving You-KISS

    "disco rock!"

  • you gorgeous guy brian gone to soon always remain forever in my heart x x

  • Disco and rock don't belong to each other. Never have. Never will.

  • Brian had it all looks, body and very nice voice! Andy was always jealous, now he is fat and even uglier.

  • Comment removed

  • The bass player is a flappy-handed douche.

  • @raleighman3000 Yeah, but that's a damned nice RIck bass!

  • Seven people didn't get enough oxygen.

  • other than VH's "eruption" and the "Candy-O" lp this the was best song of the summer of 78

so so so so so so many memories of a great 78 summer !

  • Go to any old song on You tube, you'll see the comment, I'm 13, 14 whatever and I love this old song, not the new music, yeah sure.

  • Brian and Steve seem to be playing this for laughs but, behind the smile I am not convinced that Brian was happy within Sweet at this stage !

  • Just saw the Steve Priest version of Sweet do this song about an hour ago. Steve looked very bad but they did sound pretty good. One GREAT band.

  • Dude, sweet!

  • i like this song..full of soul

  • wow, i really dislike this song for some reason :\ and i usually dont dislike classic rock

  • Does anyone else think they sound just like Electric Light Orchestra?

  • Love is Like GREAT MUSIC!! 1978 Rules

  • Wow, is Brian Connolly hot! He reminds me a lot of Joe Elliott and Benjamin Orr.

  • Fab band! This takes me back to my teens. Great music! Great voice!

  • This just catapults me back to my Misspent Youth. I just so adored Brian Connoly, that hair, those clothes - my friend Ann and I had this really Naff dance routine we did to this song - Sad or What? - Happy Days.

  • 70's music can't be duplicated! It had it's time. Love it!

  • who cares about genre, I don't , what matters is whether you like the music, and when a band can stray into another genre or even music that isnt clearly within a genre, that can be interesting and worthwhile

  • ah

  • i agree... 4 people ran out of oxygen ... like this if you agree :)

    '

  • i agree... 4 people ran out of oxygen ... like this if you agree :)

  • in late 70's many bands turned to disco - like ELO with their album discovery or KISS with Dynasty

  • leva nois imitol kkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • Four people need more oxygen. :-\

  • File this song somewhere next to Queen, Sparks and ELO as one of the best art rock songs of the 70's. This is my favourite Sweet song, although the stuff they did with Chinn & Chapman was great as well. :)

  • Theres been a murda (Taggart McManus's Step Brother is the main singer if I am right)

  • Ahhhhhh, Sweet is sweet, those who don't know wtf they are talking about, listen to the song, lol, cheers from Canada, thanks for this great great song !!! Video killed the radio star and created monsters who can't fkn sing, glad to have lived during real music era, humble opinion.

  • so what does everyone think of the annoying camera work at the beginning

    my head is spinning

    geez

Andy sure does love making faces in the camera :D

  • Gr8 song, makes me cry

  • Ha! Velvet Revolver should have covered this. I could see Scott Weiland all going over the top n shit.

  • I'm 15. I'm not like my peers. I love old music. And this is my favourite song OF. ALL. TIME. ♥

  • @BilkedProductions Good for you loving old music! Bad for you having this as your favourite song! But you're young. You still have time to reevaluate AFTER you listen to the music of the Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, the Kinks, and the by God Beatles!

  • @BilkedProductions It's a good one but there are so many from the 70s and 80s I have a feeling you will find another one or two in time that you will say is your fav...LOL

  • @BilkedProductions You're 15. Your favorite song of ALL time WILL change MANY times. Good song.

  • @BilkedProductions im 20 and i love this song too...

  • @BilkedProductions SAME WITH ME i have never liked today's pop music and probably never will

  • @BilkedProductions more of yours peers love old music than you apparently think. But good on you anyway! :D

  • @BilkedProductions I'm also 15 and I'm SOOOO glad my little brother introduces me to such a great amount of great music!! THANKS BRO!

  • @BilkedProductions There is no such thing as "old music"

  • @MickeyLove01 Just "Old people", like me LOL.

  • @BilkedProductions

That is good to hear. Check out Sweet's other big hits "Fox on the Run" and "Ballroom Blitz". They played the glitz and glam game, but that's what people did back in the mid 70s. It was glorious. And, I have to say......

dammit, they were a good band,

    Take care,

    -SF

  • @sfpopcorn Teenage Rampage was another good one

  • @BilkedProductions Smart 15yr old:)) Good tune for sure!

  • @BilkedProductions You have impeccable taste. Glad to hear there's someone who isn't swayed by peer pressure.

  • @BilkedProductions me too, i really LOVE sweet, absolutely....and mick is my favourite drummer ever :D

  • @BilkedProductions Who cares?

  • @BilkedProductions Good on ya for the the good taste you have in music and you're only 15. This is an excellent band listen to more of their songs you'll be amazed.

  • Awesome song! Btw, is that Chuck Norris at 0:53?

  • gotta love the 70's

  • I would like to find one that is actually live.

  • this is a bad ass song ,these guys rocked.another band that will never be duplicated.they dont play music like this anymore

  • Thesinger kinda looks like the lead guitarist for RUSH, haha.

  • "Level Headed" was the best and the 1st High Quality "Sweet" album ever.

    Before that,i didn't like them,afterwards I admired them.

  • I saw Sweet in Concert in April 1978 and they performed this as a new song. They brought the house down Memphis, Tennessee. They were the back up band for Bob Segar and the Silver Bullet Band.

  • exitazo......muy bueno

  • i left school in 78 ya dont recon i thought these guys where the chit!

  • the talented members of 'sweet" all had lovely rich voices. i especially like steve"s..

very unique. ..but their combined efforts made this band great!..

  • Superb, nice to find out that the band I hated as a kid pop glam rock (I was into the clash) are in fact brilliant, professional, what a lovely find. What a shame they couldn't get on together and become worldwide, Brit rock tour deforce!

  • ARRASA BI!

  • I love love love this song, Brian was such a great singer, the sweet was so under rated...this has to be where ELO got their sound from.

  • Brian was such a talent, last saw him at butlins some time in the late 90's....good reason not to do drugs!! . Could still sing though

  • @1604mikeboon To my knowledge and what I have read up on Brian he didn't do drugs, his drug of choice was drinking... which was just as bad the end result was the same. RIP Brian and Mick....

  • Does anyone else love the cold , sinister , yet musically enticing guitar at 0:16 , and how dramatically forlorn Brian sings at 1:03. Such a moody , theatrical song. Great!!!

  • I love all the old songs nowadays music suck the 70's and 80's rule forever

  • Wow...dude! Nice to have this video to watch! Lots of memories! Thank you!!!!

  • I was approximately 13 years old when this song was popular. The older teens, some of whom drove, a Trans Am, a Mustang, etc... jammed to this type of music. Awesome song and the longer version is just as great. Sweet, ELO, Pink Floyd, Frampton, Zeppelin, and on and on!. Thank you for incredible instrumentals...You all were exceptional musicians!

  • Superb. Influential.

Such a shame they didn't continue their metamorphosis together.

  • fab song

  • @musiclover7579 saw brian do a gig not long before we lost him, shaky but could still belt out them notes RIP

  • those high notes are insane!!!

  • is great still!!!

  • This is the best lineup The Sweet ever had, the emotion was there, not as good in the later years after Brian Connolly and Mick Tucker's passing. RIP Brian and Mick..

  • lo maximo sweet! una de sus mejores canciones... saludos a todos desde lima peru

  • The opening chords to this are so achingly late 70s that I almost can't bear it- so evocative

  • glam

  • They rule! Great song..!

  • Such a great tune. This is all 70s! TYVM

  • @strivingx67

a top 10 hit in mid 1978 peaking at which position?

  • @thefirefighter2011 US it peaked at #8...their other top US chart hits were Fox on the Run #5, Little Willy #3 and Ballroom Blitz #5

  • A sweet farewell from a band who were so much morre than anyone gave them credit for...

And RIP Brian. I knew Harefield well - grew up nearby. I still think of you and of this song when I go down by the canal.

  • The first time I heard this song was about 33 or 34 years ago when I was 14 years old. It was one of the single hits in Thailand. Amazing!

  • I love love love this song.........I love The Sweet...........oh to have these back once again, I would return in a heart beat..........

  • i was 18 and i got my heart broken by the girl working down the road from my place

you dont reckon i didnt play this song till the needle on my record player super heated and melted :))

  • ECCEZIONALI..!!! BRANO INTRAMONTABILE..!!!

    UNA DELLE MIGLIORI CANZONI DELL'EPOCA..!!!

  • I like Brian's new hair cut :-)

  • Damn, this is the cheesiest rock song ever. Bell bottoms and power chords piss me off!

  • @FuUberFu tosser

  • i hate this! it is so wierd!

  • Do these guys seem totally bored or what? Having to lip sync your music SUCKS!

  • @suziwillpower was a long long time ago suzi, they werent happy doing a doubt.. chill girl x

  • love it !!!

  • No, it ended with that humongous, obtrusive and totally depressing "disco" sign over their heads.

  • @firefly724

    What's wrong with "Disco-Rock" ?

Kiss recorded also some great things of this kind

  • @Deltamaster1965 this isn't disco rock at all wtf are you talking about.

  • @KOSMICKEN09

No matter how we name it-but it has many elements of pop&disco. That kind of sound made "Sweet" interesting to me. Before "Level Headed" I've heard nothing of such quality like this...(except maybe "Fox On The Run")
