I wouldn't think raids and disasters would be a big deal if all the systems have the items that prevent them. My empire is a little over 200 and we never have ecodisasters and raids are usually too brief to even bother with.

Not bad. My aracnos empire is at a similar size but its clustered much tighter since i extincted every other inteligent beeing in range and conquered every single star so far. Maybe you should check them out. Videos are highly outdated but i may upload a new one some time soon

How do you know the number of planets you have? Is there a counter somewhere?

I'm kind of curious how many I have currently. The process is kind of slow by the way because I want to have all stars inbetween and every planet I live on has to be T3.

the first game i ever started i had an empire like that, but my computer crashed. Its funny, if u install a mod you can just spread ur empire out with trading. i figured that out shortly before the crash. oh did u defeat the Grox?

I have like 40 and i have to dodge grox attacks, protect allies, reduce my ecodisaters, protect my allies from eco disataters i have like 7 allies. I also have to protect allies from the grox

@xSarpedon When your spore empire becomes that big (over 100 systems) i suggest you use the console to reduce the eco disasters and pirate attacks rates to almost 0....like it happens 1 time in a session of 5 hours for a 500 system empire.Otherwise it,s just not playable...i'm pretty sure everyone with an empire that big understands that and do use the console to reduce the rates A LOT.Caus with a 30 system big empire (small empire) it happens like once every 30 minutes...with 500 worlds...

@xSarpedon If you place both a bio protector,and a bio stabilizer eco disasters will be practically nonexistent.And if you have a T3 planet with maximized colonies,and an uber turret,any pirates will get brutally owned.

@xSarpedon Ecodisasters and raids still happen on the same frequency(unless you put Bio Stabilizers on every planet), it just gets very annoying going across 100 parsecs to deal with the,.

No those are FLAGS not a HOUSE, it just pops up if you are far from your empire and so you can find your way back to them...

not really... once you unlock anti-matter weapons and get 99 of each, you can destroy any civilization. And yes, the Grox are unique in that way...

under settings -> game and capture settings: change the cature size to 620 by 480, or whatever the highest numbers are. graphics cards dont really matter when you know how to tweak the settings. the computer i made this in actually has no graphics card at all.

I find it's better to have small number of densely-populated star systems. Instead of having a load of T0 and T1 colonies, you have a few T3 colonies. That way there are less to be attacked by pirates or suffer from ecological disasters.

yea thats what i do. i make a ball of T3 planets all surrounding my homeplanet, place uber turrets on each (sometimes i get a glitch that lets me place 2 uber turrets per planet) and then begin to branch out towards the centre of the galaxy

I don't usually bother with beyond 10 solar systems. Ultimately, be fully developing them you can get enough wealth to do effectively anything in the game.

attacks do happen on my colonies. but because this is a warrior race, it lessens the frequency of attacks. also, each of the colonies has at least 2 turrets. and because my empire is not streatched out over wormholes, i can respond to attacks relitively quickly without trying to remember how to get from one section to the other.

ive had it since the day it launced. this movie was taken a few months after that, although its is only 1 of 13 of my civilizations. i have been expanding on this empire still. now the colonies, while not really going out any further, are more tightly packed. i have about 550 colonized planets now i think.

Simple! You get the Zealot Superpower and use Fanatical Frenzy to convert the entire planet! They don't even hate you if you do so, so do it on your allies.

I get so many colonies just by planting them. I can make a good amount of sporebucks because I dont tend to only put colonies on planets that have pink, blue, or purple spice, as those sell for more than orange or yellow spice does. I also have several of what i call "Cash Systems" in wich i find a system with many planets that all have pink, purple or blue spice, and i Tier 3 all of the planets. Then i just let them collect spice and I come and collect it all and sell it for the highest price

aside from physically counting them all, i dont think there is any real way to get an exact count. if you look at your evolutionary timeline, it only shows when you placed colonies and when you captured/purchased systems.

you may have ,ore colonies than me. but mine are sread out over the entire galaxy. i found a wormhole that goes to each spiral arm of the galaxy. and put colonies at where they lead to. then i spread them out from there. but anyway. yours is impressive.

i find it very easy, cause the wormholes r instant travel, and besides, uber turrets can make a colony pretty much take care of itself, i dont terraform alot of them either, so no ecodisaster worries.

I'm at war with 5 other empires and their is always a eco-disaster happening every two minutes. i have no idea how you can even keep up with 450.

Getting started was the hardest part for me too. I was a tier 2 empire and was at war with 2 tier 4 empires and one tier 5, and i almost lost my homeworld. When attacking an enemy planet, its better if you just go straight for the colony capital buildings instead of the fighters. if you attack just the capital buildings, once it's out of health, the colony will either become conquored or will be destroyed. Once your empire becomes bigger and you get more stuff, it becomes easier.

if you look at your evolution timeline, you can get a rough estimate of how many colonies you have. colonies gained from conquest or purchase will only be listed as system captured or purchased
