Disgusting. Why would plain clothes officer respond to a domestic violence scene? Why would they attack the alleged criminal when the situation was currently non-violent? These officers should be stripped of their uniforms and thrown in the prisons with the other people they've beaten needlessly.
I don't think cops are dumb - If you want to hurt people and get rewarded instead of arrested you become a cop. The dumb ones are the criminals without the badge.
I fucking hate the police. The RCMP tried to arrest my friend when we were strolling to the mall because he looked 'suspicious' (pfft, more like DIFFERENT! Assholes..). We both sat in the police station for 4 hours until they let us go.
thankfully the Vancouver police will investigate this incident by the Vancouver police. That way the Vancouver police can decide if there was any wrongdoing by the Vancouver police.
This is how all police departments work, and is the model for the new crime fighting method; "let the criminal do the policing".
All these problems (this and the airport) could be solved very easly. Put multilingual officers and or Interpreters at the airport. As for the rest of Canada, DEMAND people have a some or full grasp of the english language before immigrating to this country. No more of this I dont speak english crap. Foreigners hide behind this excuse way to much Canada.

I used to live in Vancouver for some time, and I found that their police, RCMP, custom officers are the WORST among the "civilized" countries in the world.
The most notorious incidents were they tasered the Polish immigrant to death at the airport; they beat up a newspaper delivery man near the Hyatt Hotel in downtown; now they beat up the wrong man and then try to cover and keep changing the story...
I didn't trust any cops at all. Nowadays the police are very fucked up.

The R.C.M.P. and Vancouver Police are out of control. They behave like they have no laws that govern their conduct. The word "Pig" seems more appropriate to call them today then the word "Police Officer". New independent investigative bodies have to be created to determine fault in situations like this. You simply cannot have the Police investigating themselves. If the Police investigate this incident, those accused will walk, I guarantee it. I SAY ... "FIRE ALL THEIR SORRY ASSES IMMEDIATELY".
@Tiberiusduck Citizens should make every effort to unite and defend themselves against them. For instance, take videos and serve as witnesses for victims of these crimes. Such as the assault in this video.
@WigglyWatch The us against them mentality comes directly from the Police who think because they wear a badge, It puts them one level above the public and gives them the right to abuse anybody they see fit. The latest technology that is already here can now give the police the ability to turn off cellphones in any given area to prevent the public from recording their actions.

If you want to beat the crap out of people legally join the Vancouver Police, Lie, cheat and steal and nothing will happen to you. By the way the victim still has to pay for his own medical bills. We can't subject the good people of Vancouver to the cost of treating Police victims like human beings.
You are absolutely right, cops have license to beat and assault anyone they like, eventually they wont get in any trouble at all whether or not the Chief or the Commissioner are involved. They beat and assault and get paid for days off (vacation).
