  • u do wut my coach calls " super man" it is when u have ur arms like ur flying

  • ...

    Misty Hyman....

    teehee

  • Human body is amazing! We were made to live!

  • lol "misty hyman" just me? just me? okay guys. never mind.

  • Her phelps is similar to phelps and I keep asking this question: should their hands be that much under their body when pulling? That puts a ton of pressure on the shoulders and i stopped doing that and started pulling more outside like most swimmers. What's better/correct?

  • @smokycannon it does indeed put much pressure on the shoulders, but it's simply the matter of stretching and then re-building the muscles. i noticed that when i you pull from under my body, it gives me much more impact, the leg movements bring me further forward and i simply swim faster.

  • @smokycannon I use to pull like the in the video above

  • why are her legs separating when she kicks back? that's not supposed t happen. my coach yells at me for doing it every day.

  • @frostylove333

    i know me too LOL

  • @frostylove333 Problem with that is, after a certain point people will swim faster in their own way. There's a video on here of a female triathlon champion jodie swallow who has what would be called an irregular freestyle stroke. At this point, would you listen to a coach or a world champion? Obviously she knows what she doing.

    watch?v=hiNkAMU8syI

  • I'm dutch and I did 50 meters Butterfly in 1956 in 26 seconds -

    -=-

I was 20 % faster than other guys with TUMPEK invented by an hongarian swimmer, copied by Atie Voorbij who I saw doing it, and then next day I did it just like that - It's inhaling one time per two strokes and you swimm much more under water like a dolphin - it's beautiful - I wonder if I'm the only now in the world knowing how to do it. - I'm 74 but still able to demonstrate TUMPEK - IT'S HEAVY but fast and very gracious

  • @ankhaton I think I know what you're talking about, I'm sort of a vet as well, but you were way faster than me. It is a much faster way of swimming butterfly. Inbetween arm strokes, when your arms enter the water you keep them in front for maybe 1/2 of a second and glide like a dolphin, then you pull arms back to complete the stroke. This is how the fastest team member on my team did it, and he was CIF in freshman year of high school. Most of us on that team did butterfly that way.

  • @maximumchina -

No, It is a the second stroke with the head UNDER water for world championships

it's really worth to see it in practice to the present standards you who beat everyone by a meter

But because you have half the breath/oxygen it's heavy but you win on water_dynamics enormously

I saw it and next night visualized it in my bed and the next day just swam it - fifth of Netherlands on 100 ( to hard losing at the end ) but

first on 50 by meters but that was not olympic then -

  • i wish my butterfly looked that nice...

  • She has a brother named Buster...Buster Hyman XD

  • Her technique is great....Bravo !!

  • plz answer this question asap:

do u hav to bring ur hands together when they go out of the water?

  • @13anana13ri no they don't, they may. But its up to you

  • @corazon679 thank u!!!!!!

  • 333333 click and lol !

  • 111

  • I don't under stand her arms after they come back in the water??

  • 111

  • Love the Adam Hills joke about her name. Check out this: Adam Hills Live At The Apollo (Part 1 of 1) - at 1:20

  • i have a 32-33 and im an 11-12. is that time good?

  • im an 11-12 with a 32 in a 50 fly. is that good for my age?

  • @agswimmer34 my first year of high school i had a 45 second fly, but then it suddenly clicked and my next race i went from a 45 to a 37, and i've been lowering it down from there. Mine is now around 35, so keep trying and it'll happen!

  • i hateee butterflyy!! its soo hard but my coach puts me in it for every meet.... im 11-12 girl with 44 sec. on 50 butterfly.... is that gooodd?

  • @agswimmer34 not realy

  • @agswimmer34 11-12 is ok not good but ok if u want to be good try pulling a 35 - 37 and that would be good and to be a decent swimmer you want a sub 35, olympics?!? is sub 25...

  • @agswimmer34 well honestly its not but don't worry i use to suck at fly but I kept working at it and now ive dropped to a 26.85 50 as a 14 yr old. and the reason why the coach puts u in fly everymeet is becuase he wants to see improvement and plus becuase your a 11-12 yr old he wants to see a stroke where you can potentially excel in before you turn 15 , when most people start to specialize.

  • @MrLosser12345 26.85 50 METERS?!

  • When they say "flying through the water".......

  • la plus belle technique de natation

  • @electricblue2xox Wow 2 years and still not perfected? At least I know that I am not a retard.

Butterfly is the most complex stroke I have ever learned in my life. Every single component has to be perfectly match or you will either hurt yourself or it makes you feel ackward. I can finally be able to "fly" for about 2 weeks. But I am nowhere close to my comfort zone. It is either my kicks were underwater or my arms are not high enough. Looks like I still have a long way to go.

  • @SeeDipFu butterfly is easier than breast stroke and backstroke.

  • @chrisfour4444 I am not sure what I wrote on my previous comment. But I picked up Breast stroke since I was 5yrs old, and I picked up both Front Crawl and Back Stroke while I was having a lesson with Butterfly(My coach forced me to learn these first) . You may be right for what you said, but it just simply don't apply to my situation, unfortunately.

  • Haha. She has one awesome name

  • I got my butterfly stroke in about 2 months! Its so fun :)

  • is she half fish

  • She used to swim for my club!!

  • She doesnt have Phelps style

  • hey, how to swim this worm locomotion style?? anyone?

  • oh my god. i hate fly. ive been trying to perfect it for about 2 years and i cant get it down. i guess i should just stick to backstroke (:

  • Holy shit! The size of her lats!...

  • BUTTEFLYERS FTW.!*

  • i kike free style best

  • Thats was beautiful!

  • brining your hands all the way past your hips makes a hard recovery on your stroke. your putting effort into already moving water. so its a waste of time.

  • you kids and your yards, we swim metres over here

  • i swim a 30:52 breast but a ihave 5 months hhuahuahua

  • Help me to reach the goal of my young life, to be marydeutsch01's biggest fan!!!

PLEASE SEARCH FOR: THE HIP NUN and click on the first one!!!!

my hope is that she will become wildly popular thanks to me and maybe someday we will even become friends!!!

  • thats not in Athens 04

  • great!

  • nice

  • i swim a 34.04 in 50 yd breast (i know i suck) but a guy on our team does a 53.40 in the 100yd fly

  • i swim a 35.34 50 breast but im 12

  • 14. boy. 100 free 1:00. 100 fly 1:07. been swimming for 3 months. good or bad?

  • @gorillaman10456 thats good for an 14 only 3 months..

  • I'm Enrique Salvucci, I'm from is Argentina and my best record is 1:41:30 in 200 mts Crol.

  • @LoquendoMeister

    world record in 200 m is 1:42.00

  • imm a BUTTERFLYER AND IM PROUD OF IT!! BEASTLY BUTTERFLYERS**!!

  • been swimming for nine years. im a girl. i do 57.43 on 100 free. i feel lame. xP

  • @shinedownluvr1 its ok...i swim a 1.02.36 on 100 free. I'm a butterflyer and a Breast Stroker Breast 50 yard time is a 34.12 and my butter 50 yard is a 27.32=)))

  • I'm 13 and i go a 1:08 in 100 fly

  • Good Job!

  • that was fast for this age group - how you do it?

  • theres on kid on our high school swim team thats been swimming for 13 years and can do a 56.38 on 100 fly.... he also does a 51.23 on 100 free hes amazing....idk y i told u guys its kinda random.

  • @swordy0514 thats slow compared to my team we have like a freshman that goes a 45 in his 100 free and a 50 in his 100 fly

  • If i am 13 and have been swimming for 2 years is 1:17:86 a good time for hundred yard fly? I'm just asking to see where i'm at

  • thats pretty good. im 16 and ive been swimming for 3 years and i do a 1:16:90...im like 5'2 though xP

  • i'm about 5'5. I was looking at the j.o times though and they have made it harder again. Qualifying was 1:08 or somthing, which is why i asked. Butterfly is my favorite stroke so i'm gonna do whatever it takes to get there. My shoulder is a bit messed up, so I'm hoping i will drop time when its healed.

  • damn weak as hell, do not proud of that

  • i pull with my elbows. i dont get how i bend my arms. CAN SOMEONE REPLY IF U KNOW HOW?!

  • i don't understand..how the heck do u pull with ur elbows?

  • when I do the butterfly stroke, should I have straight arms or bend-elbow high arms?

  • bending elbow hig arms. This video is filmed from a angle where there is not so much focus on the arms.

  • straight, you pull more water and turn your palms to the ceiling behind you.

  • They should bend a bit when you're pulling underwater, but when they are out of the water, they need to be straight. The reason for this is because you'll end up hitting the water to soon if they're bent and you'll lose momentum

  • she is misty hyman

  • thanx!

  • NO - its was Kaitlin Sandeno cos that olympics is in Athens 04 - Hyman was in Sydney Olympics 00

  • @06gre09 Ah.. the Pokemon Gym Leader.

  • my butter fly time is a 34 for 50 yards

  • yea, and phelps has a little under 25. Not to get you down or anything.

  • Who is she?

    She has Phelps style

  • @osermaodamontanha yeah.. at first i thought it was phelps..

  • @osermaodamontanha It says her name in the title genius.

  • @neversopht When i post de comment the name wasn't there. Take it easy dude and go swim!

  • @osermaodamontanha i was just messin' with ya! Right on brother.

  • @osermaodamontanha WHAT THE HELL? SHE IS NUTHING LIKE HIM!

  • @osermaodamontanha Actually Misty does a big "S" with her kick and Michael Phelps don't. Well, I watched too many clips while I was learning Butterfly myself :P

  • perfect!!!

    who is she?

  • its not hard at all

ofc you need to practice alot....

but before you start training butterfly stroke

train breast stroke and free stroke so you can build up condition for butterfly stroke , because butterfly can rly exaust you

  • For a 13 year old is 27 good?

  • You're being way too ambiguous. First of all, are you a male or female. Also, are you talking about 50 yards or 50 meters?

I'm assuming you meant yards. If you're a girl, you're pretty good. If you're a boy, you need to improve; a 27 in 50 yard fly is not that good for your age - about average.

  • meters, and how is that not above average, that got me an AB time for junior olympics. In the league meet this year, i beat 10th graders and im going to 8th how is that average??

  • Apparently you need to improve your reading skills.... Did you not fully read my comment? Please note that I assumed your time was in yards. Your time would be average if it were for yards.

Now that I know that your time is for meters, I'd say that it's far above average. Learn how to read before you get flustered over nothing.

  • Actually, even if in yards thats a fantastic time for a 13 year old, our state swimmers for my high school team go 27's on relay's and they are 16-18.

  • gotta love the fly! :)

  • awesome tchnique. got pb this week. 50 fly in 30.06 and I'm 30 this year by the way.

  • Butterfly is praitcly the hardest stroke for swimming. Not many people can do it. I suck at it but do perfect in all my other strokes. It's soooo wierd. All well.

  • lol thats so funny cause my best stroke is fly and i can do breast.. at all lol..

  • potatoes have potassium

  • argh i cant do it :$

  • my 50 fly time is 33.64 and im only 12 <3

  • i'm 22 and my 50 fly is 39 sec =(

  • Its take time - so keep going and ur butterfly stroke will get better - u MUST have strong abs and hips with strong flexible legs so u can dolphin kick more easier and faster. Other thing on arm movement, u must be have strength of shoulders and back of arms so go to gym and hit some weights

  • you don't really need to have strong abs to do the dolphin kick easier you just need to wave your body more to be able to have a good dolphin kick

  • wow you're awesome! I'm ten and just starting out an i do 38

  • wot lovely film

  • did u stretch before u did the butterfly stroke?

  • can someone please tell me why i always get cramps in my calves when i butterfly stroke/

  • could be many reasons

    weak calfs

    not enough calcium nor potassium

    and not stretching properfly

first i would say warm up, say like a lap or 2 doin anything, i do freestyle

then stretch goood, very GOOD ha

    then start your workouts

gotta have your calfs stronger so they don't get cramps, also eat lots of bananas? stuff that has lots of potassium, and lots of milk too

also dehydration, gotta be very hydrated before swim workout cuz swimming gets you dehydrated very fast ha

    hope that helps

  • One question is there any other food that has potassium

  • yeah!

bananas has good amount of potassium, avocados has huge amount of potassium

peanuts have good amount of sodium and potassium

hmm...that's pretty much what i eat

    anyother foods? ha

  • k thanks

  • yeah potatos do i think :)

  • Misty Hyman or Natalie Coughlin or Kaitlin Sandeno.... dunnow which one is

  • It surely isnt Coughlin, she swims a very different butterfly. And I would b surprised to find on here this kind of footage from 8 yrs ago.

Imo it could be Hagiwara Tocomo.

  • umm i just noticed it says USA on the suit. i guess that leaves Sandeno

  • Yeah I thought so

  • I think it was Misty Hyman or Natalie Coughlin or Kaitlin Sandeno

  • Its not Natalie, its not Natalies technique, i can tell

  • Yeah Its not Natalie so I go for Sandeno

  • uhh your pull isn't supposed to bring your head up, your kick is ... she has the same problem I used to, I used to pull my head out of the water with my arms than kick forward ... it's supposed to be the opposite, kick to get your head out of the water than pull to propel your body forward

  • is that sweety natalie coughlin?

  • I think she's Misty Hyman but I'm not sure

  • Is it just me or aren't you not supposed to bend your arms in fly? o.O

  • it is just you.

  • I didn't say that correctly, you are supposed to bend them, just not nearly that much.

  • ur not supposed to bend ur arms.

  • u can bend ur arms - Misty Hyman who won 200m Butterfly olympics gold at Sydney did this its depends wot movement suit them - Misty use TWO butterfly kicks per stroke - others use ONE kick per stroke

  • Thank you very much for posting!

For my own training, it's a great help, no further

    instruction is needed.

This stroke is very complicated, but here everything

    is clear.

  • no.

  • There is a girl i know and her 50 fly is 33.

  • thats slow

  • haha thats actually pretty fast how fast can you do your 50?

  • i can do my 50 in 27:67 seconds

  • LOLOOLOLOLOL

  • no thats really slow.

  • that is slow lmfao

  • Eww thats bad

  • dont you just want to beat anybody to death with a set of armbands when you see them sploshing past you doing the fucking butterfly! lol

"oi! swim properly! you look like you're drowning!"

  • butterfly, for me, is definantly the hardest stroke. how many kicks are you soposed to take for one whole pull? i think its two, but i don't really swim that stroke very often.

    <3 breast stroke

  • It's two kicks for every stroke.

  • You dont really kick you wiggle look at my fly video.. and watch my wiggle. =)

  • She just happens to have very flexible ankles. Which is great in swimming. You should know that.

  • I did know that, what was the point in saying that.

  • i also got 19th out of like 80 people at GT

  • my best 50 yd. fly is 39 seconds and my best 100 I.M. is 1 min. 27 sec. but im only 11

  • oh my god i saw this at swim clinic =)

  • You should redo the video with "The Chariots of Fire" in the background. Would make it more emotional and entertaining!

  • yeah i'm a backstroker and my time is 30 but i'm 12

  • actually breast stroke, speaking of technique is hardest if u want to perfect it

  • when you get to a high competitive level, breast stroke IS the hardest. This is because it is the only stroke where just about your whole body remains in the water the entire time. Your arms are facing water resistance as opposed to air resistance on the returns.

  • that is true, but all strokes have their harder and easier parts, but who cares?swimming is fun =D

    i love butterfly personally..

  • actually ur suppoused to lifet ur head to breathe and be as lowest to the water as possible. for minimum drag

  • im on the swim team and i do the butter fly well i do the 50 in it and my time is 38

  • lol 38 isnt that good...

  • yepp

  • mine is 30

  • im 11

  • ahh then its not that bad for ur age but u maybe should swim like 36 i swimm 30 and 29 cuz i am 14 :)

  • and how old are u?

  • i wouldent brag about somthing that sucks i get it in 28

  • they just said they are 11-12 idiot, you may get it in 28, but what are you 17? try not being a petty fag and leave people alone.

  • i agree im a breastroker and its the hardest because any mistake u make and it ruins the stroke

  • eh very nice i think

  • 1 is good

2 is wrong. Watch the pros, you should not be looking down. If you are, you are way too high out of the water.

My stroke is far better, anyone that swims it correctly is better.

  • Butterfly is the most challenging stroke of the four.I never get around with it properly.Very tough even at the very beginning.

  • breaststroke is actually the hardest both technique wise and physically.

  • i agree with sijas.

breaststroke is actually the hardest to get completely correct.

  • sorry no way breaststorke is the easiest to perfect backstorke /front craw are next equal yet fly takees years of swimming to be confident to try and then years more to get right

  • beautifly

  • jenny van dyke

  • o yea.. if u look at michael phelps or ian crocker, they look exactly the same compared to err...whoever this is :P
