How I made my practice, more towards martial arts hammer tho I'm interested in performance arts too. The one I made is approx. 3,6meter long, 10mm rope meteor hammer, end weight being around 300grams, though very easily adjustable. If you're more towards muscle training it gives you pretty good burn to back, bicep/triceps/forearms and ofc core also since the meteor hammer is pretty heavy.
Cost is only few euros. It depends on how much you want to spend on spinning rope..
Great video! I know what I'm making tomorrow! :) One of my short throwing spikes is getting a hole drilled across the tail, and out comes the paracord....
Thanks for the feedback! I love getting these responses of other guys picking up the rope dart. Just remember, it is a weapon and is DANGEROUS. I really can't stress enough how much everyone should consider starting with something other than pointy metal on the other end of that rope! I was swinging a tennis ball on some clothesline for months before I ever touched something deadly.
My freind got me into this, he is in wushu and show me these tricks in high speed almost breaking somethings in theprosses and its amazing like landing your first backflip!!!:)
@fullfreydog this is such an awesome video & showing it slow-mo is even more helpful but question: will the kyoketsu shoge in ninja assassin work the same way? I mean I know it's just a hollywood made weapon and that it borrows both kyoketsu & rope dart techniques but do the basics still apply? Please respond THANKS!
I had to look that up, lol. I like to tie off the rope dart to my left wrist, though I've seen people who perform fire dart by holding the knotted end in their fist... so it COULD be possible to do tricks by holding the sharpened hook end while spinning the circular end. Can't say I'd try any kind of wrap while spinning the hooked weapon (Fairly obvious reasons)... but if you do decide to spin with one, please by something made to practice with that isn't 100% lethal.
Thanks for the video. I can't find anyone in my part of TX that can show me stuff with a rope dart. I use 2 soft rubber balls wrapped up instead of the actual dart until i get good enough not to knock myself out.
Thanks for everyone responding and viewing. I know I haven't updated anything recently, but I do have some video I've been trying to edit from like a month back (video editor crashed a dozen times and I eventually gave up)...
So new video soon. Now that summer's over, maybe I can post a few more updates in the coming weeks.
Thanks again guys, and I'm really happy to see it helping someone!
Great tutorial man. I just made a practice rope dart yesterday and I am having a blast with it so far. These were really easy to follow and I can't wait to try them out after I get a glove for my hand. It is nicely blistered so far :P
hi thanks ! your vid is very helpfull ! can you tell me how to make a rope dart that is safe for beginners ? what kind of rope, what do you hang from it ? how long ? is the other part around the wrist?
Brilliant mate.. I do a little rope dart as well and I'm impressed at your video. Nothing like step by step tutorials plus I learnt a new variation on a trick I knew so I'm quite happy too. Keep it up

Fullfreydog, THANK YOU!!!! I've been looking all over for decent tutorials on the Rope Dart. You, sir, are an answer to my prayers.

Wow. Thank you. It's nice to be appreciated! Have fun and be safe, and if you have any requests I'll do my best to help you out.
fullfreydog 2 years ago
Thanks, I will try. And by all means, you are welcome, Good Sir!
Incidentally, I do have a question- is it possible to do motions like this with a long chain? Or are these maneuvers doable only with rope?
ryarod 2 years ago
I've played with sash chain before, and while it's possible to control... it hurts.
So yeah, you could use thin chain but it's uncomfortable and harder to use. Wouldn't try a neck wrap with the stuff, for sure.

Thank you. I was beginning to wonder if I'd started out too simple with the tricks.
I'll put one up showing my favorite neck wrap soon.
