First band was The Nipple Erectors (became The Nips later because some people took offence of the name). Second one was Pogue Mahone wich was later changed to The Pogues for the same reason as with The Nips.

His third band was The Popes

no, this wasnt anywhere near 1987. I was at the St. Paddy's day show in 1988, and shane looked nothing like that. This is at least 10 years younger. If this was 87, Kirsty MacColl would be singing. The Pogues would also only be on their secind album. Your date is WAY off.
