@glizag there are variants to this verse. While it is true Jesus alone is responsible for the redemption. Mary had a role in giving birth to Jesus, the Savior. Simon the Cyrene had a part in helping carry the cross.
@OrthodoxCatholic1 Mary's part was done after she gave birth to Jesus, Simon's part was done when he carried the Cross, but the whole WORK OF REDEMPTION happened on the Cross on Calvary, and no one else but Jesus could take full praise for that.
Calvary and the work on Calvary revolves around Jesus alone.
@glizag Ofcourse the actual redemptive work was Christ alone, but Christ did not get their without other people helping on the way, like Simon the Cyrene who helped carry His cross
@OrthodoxCatholic1 Unbelievable you are trying to imply that Christ needed others to help him accomplish Redemption
The people along the way like Simon were really only Incidental & really had no part in the work on Calvary
Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; Hebrews 1:3
@glizag Jesus could have gotten to the Cross theoretically with no one helping him, He could have just somehow materialized his own body then got crucified, however that is not what happened--other people helped him accomplish what happened at the cross. Nothing written in SCripture is incidental, they are there to teach us something. Simon the Cyrene is there to show us we are to bear one anothers burdens. The fact is as it stands that Christ made it to the Cross by the aide of others
@OrthodoxCatholic1 The main event was Calvary in Jesus life, Judas was a big part also in Jesus going to Calvary.
All these things were predetermined by God the Father
My focus is not on the people along the way but on what Christ did while he sufffered & shed his blood & died for my sins
Sure God used people to accomplish his will & the main event was Calvary, to involve others in this work of redemption, would be like saying Jesus did not do it all on Calvary I give no praise to others in this
I used to be a catholic . then i took an arrow to the knee.

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it (HE) shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
Its the Saviour that crushes the serpents head on Calvary ~ not the Woman (mary)
But the serpent shall bruise HIS heal (body) ~ that happened on Calvary.
Mary had no part to play on Calvary with mankinds Redemption, Jesus did it all, he died alone for mankinds sins, mary did not.

@glizag Yes, Jesus did do it all, He just got to do it by using others. Yes, Judas actions were foreknown and used for good
