@49redskies Yes, i got in. For Art Fundamentals thjough, i wanted to build a strong art base, and then move into animation. Rather than directly jumping in.
Oh and now we just got word Ubisoft is coming to recuit. I'm sorry but could you remind me again, isnt Ubisoft one of the biggest name in video games? At the end of the day the facts dont lie my friend.Give your head a shake....
I've seen this so many times before...student first loves Sheridan when they get into Art Fundametals....then after they think they're good enough for the animation programs they apply.. then they get shot down...then they end up hating the school and tell everyone its shit. Now if the schools so bad, why would all the big companies still come to our showings?
Vancouver Film School or Gnomon school and Ringling College. If you r interested in a great 3D animation education or MODELING or VFX with the strong 2D skills I would suggest Vancouver Film School, Ringling College and Gnomon school aswell.Check their student reels and judge by your self. No matter how much they say to you that the school is famous and stuff like it at the end the student work is what speaks by it self. Sheridan not my favorite in my list.BTW I took art Fundametals at Sheridan
Uh oh, sounds like someone didnt get into Sheridans animation program and now they're a little mad haha. Listen... you can say all you want but at the end of the day, big animation studios come to Sheridan like Canadians go to Tim Hortons...all the time. And not just animation studios HUGE game companies as well. At first it was a big shock to me, because you'll be setting there doing your work and here comes people from a HUGE company just seeing what your up to.
In Toon Boom Harmony are France and Japan and very little in Canada since most stuff is done in flash. Their core then is mostly Classical Animation, most of the people I know that took their bachelor in animation are struggling finding jobs since 2D is less done lately so they ended up working as illustrators. I would say Sheridan is great school for fine arts but not CG. (in the industry you need both to be strong) their reels if you check them r not so impressive compared to those of VFS or
To all the people interested in how good sheridan is about these art programs please read this.
Sheridan is mostly well known by being pioneer in 2D animation education in Canada. Fact 2D animation or classical animation is critical to know and learn if you want to become a TODAY'S INDUSTRY a 3D animator.
Facts, Sheridan is like an old stubborn grandpa. The education they mostly teach is classical Animation which is pretty much dead and the few countries that still make good 2D animation in..
one of the best animation programs in North America. Disney recruits from here. 12 out of 50 animators working on the Hunchback of Nortre Dame were Sheridan graduates
@Boomoutgothelights its a corrupted school, only interested in money. They wont invest in good teachers and they wont give the resources and freedom necessary for the one they have
The teachers are basically not allowed to fail a student, and many should be failed until they get the proper level to move on
this demo would work to say: "I can make things in 3d and move them around"
nothing to do with animation skills.
After graduating from Sheridan people got jobs DESPITE of it, not because of it
@dragonsolver Hey, idk if you still read your comments but I am thinking about applying to this college for animation. The problem is most of my work are sketches, i have no prior background in computer design or animation. Will I struggle or will I get the hang of it If I try my hardest in class?
@dragonsolver this is awesome, could you tell me a little about the bachelor animation course, like is it good? what programs you use, do you need a monster computer for this course?. did you have any experience goin g in this course and what do you do now. sorta strange to ask but im taking this as well, so id love yo know. im more of a visual/psychical artist, but working with pc's is also fine. thanks
Hi i'm from Montreal and I was wondering that if CEGEP level is acceptable at Sheridan?
We finish highschool till grade 11 then move on to college were i'm in a program for media studies.
I've done art classes in highschool and in college, and I've taken 2 animation courses. Im currently working on the portfolio for feburary/march applications, and I was wondering that with my project is it possible to send a dvd with my graduating project along with the porfolio?
You must be a graduate of a 3-4 year arts program at the college or university level. For example: Graphic Design, Classical Animation, Art & Art History, Illustration etc. You will have to show a portfolio of your work. Usually 15 to 20 peices.
The rest of the requirements are on our program page on the Sheridan College Website.
hey can you give me some tips on how to get started in computer animation? im a junior in hs and animation seems like a cool thing to do so any help would be great.thanks:)
Hey, The best thing you can do for yourself is to develop your skills as an artist. The ability to draw is fundamental to animation. Get a sketch book and draw a little bit every day. You will be surprized how quickly you develop drawing skills if you do it everyday. Take art classes in High school to get some proper instruction and pointers on what to look for when you are drawing. Building your drawing vocabulary is important also building your observation skills for movement and shape.
No we have computers for the students to use. We encourage all of our students to use the equipment we have in our facilities so they get the best learning experience. You will learn more working in the computer animation lab and solving your problems and having your questions answered by our faculty, staff and the other more advanced students enrolled in our programs. Some people do have their own computer at home but it is not nessisary.
great work wow realy impressed

terrible animation. Take it off the web, it can hurt your chances to find a job.
Just keep the best few bits if any, and animate a short by yourself (10-15 seconds) to fill the rest of your demo.
Don't worry, i don't think it's your fault, Sheridan is a fraud and you guys should get together and sue those bastards.
