  • Thanx there, for uploading!!

  • I like performance of Vijanthimala , i think there in her dance is everyhting - its a wonderful mix of classic idnian dance nd modern dance of 60 years!

  • I think Helen did a better performance than Vyjayantimala (in this video... note that!!!). Helen had a better control of her movement. Vyjantimala definitely was a classical dancer and she couldn't left that style even when she did modern dance. I think the coreography of Vyjayantimala (near end part) was kinda "superstitious" for me.

  • my favorites =)

please see my geeta dutt shradanjali...

    real life tears of bollywood.

  • Ah what a song. It is very very difficult to compete with Asha Bhosale. The variations she takes , the texture of her voice and flexibility ahh no match ... how can one think to even stand in front of her for jugalbandi

  • @rajuragatube

Sorry to disappoint you but it is Geeta Dutt ji who has a better voice, range and flexibility. Only if people come out of the famous four and begin listening to songs of other singers.

  • there's no competition between Geeta Dutt and Asha Bhosle..Geeta wins hands down. she's got a lovely voice. Asha sounds second class compared to Geeta.

  • I agree completely, it's such a shame that Geeta's career ended so prematurely.

  • Both Helen and Vijayantimala were born to dance! It's a tie! Also Geeta and Asha are equally good. Another tie here. What incredible talent. Just great.

  • thanx for this song! please send all of geeta dutt!

  • Wow...Geeta Dutt sounds so catchy here! I love it!

  • papa jamaj lo? :):):) what are the words?

  • very nice dance and in my opinion i think vyjayanthimala danced better though helen did put up quite a fight

  • If you want to see the real Helen-Vyajanti dance competition and some good quality dance, search for the song 'Muqabla humse na karo'

  • yes i saw that as well...and again i think vyjayanthi won that one as well...

  • Thank you very much for the good information.

  • You are most welcome :)

  • i am sorry , i want to add in 'Indian cinema'

  • Can you please quote examples of songs earlier to 1962 which were at least of 10 minutes duration ?

  • Actually this song is only around 08:19 . Like I mentioned longer ones are there. Three are as follows:-

    1. Aanchal (1960): naache-re, naache-re, naache-re - Asha Bhosle, Suman (9:53min)

    2. Barsaat Ki Raat (1960): naa to karvaan ki talaash hai - MannaD, Asha, Batish, SudhaM, Rafi (11:51min)

    3. Kagaz Ke Phool (1959): dekhi zamaane ki yaari -Mohammad Rafi (9:00min)

  • Also I think this is the first time in Indian cinema that a song is recorded for more than 10 minutes.

  • Yes its quite a long one but there are long extended versions of some songs available. Possibly due to the records only the song never made it to the records and was part of the film version only. Records rarely had songs longer than three minutes initially.

  • Ye sab R.D.Burman ka kamal hai. Not much to do with his great father S.D. Burman. But the great thing is S.D. allowed his son full freedom in experimenting with music as he himself was experimenting.

  • superhit performance ...

  • I totally agree with you Waqas bhai !

  • hildebrandus Thanks 4 the upload!! I agree with you!

I think that Helen in a much much better dancer than vyjayanthimala!!!!!!!!!!

  • in modern dancing yes...Helen wins but not classical..

  • Glad you like the upload and agree with me. Helen got chance to show very few classical moves unfortunately. :)

  • thank you. was waiting eagerly for this..at last..i saw it on video in the 80's. Wonderful dance. Interesting to note that the same duo did another competition the Prince much later in the 60's

  • You are most welcome. Being the best dancers around I guess filmmakers loved showing their "face off". Hence whenever script allowed we were treated to this!

  • i think its funny that they faced off in a simalar fashion twords the future
