The problem with this movie is that the directors and producers made it toooooooooo fucking realistic. They tried to take something as creative as Dragonball and make sense of it, which is as dumb as a motherfucker can get. What they needed to do was do the right thing and take it from when Planet Vegeta was destroyed and when Goku was sent to earth like normal fucking people.
I looking forward for the NINJA TURTLE Hollywood movie, I bet they'll make the turtles look like green human who like Burrito more than Pizza and who actually going to High School. I'm pretty sure it'll be as successful as this movie!!!

It's true this movie isn't too bad, I think it's more a good rental instead of something you want to spend 7-10$ in theatres to watch.
My only issue was the script, there wasn't much depth, and didn't give me any real reason to care about the characters. Regardless of how close they are to the anime. It was just a movie that felt very flat and uneventful.
okay, imagine this, Superman is role by a black guy, skinny as hell, and his characteristic...gay and emo. The story? superman is human he went to high school and dance with the Jonas Brother, they had a party and superman woke up with a dildo in his ass. Luther his arch enemy is not bald and dress like clown. Superman weakness is...he can die by bullets. Hum...it seem deja vu now isn't.
Close to the plot? Half the characters are missing, the origins of the dragonballs are changed, Piccolo's ressurrection is left completely out of the story and his goals are changed, Goku goes to high school, Grandpa Gohan dies when Goku is at a high school age, the Oozaru is now a servant of Piccolo apparently, the Eternal Dragon is mediocre, and why does the Kamehameha bring Goku back to life?
Yeah, because it would be SO much better to add in every single freaking Dragonball character like in Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat 2. Also, much of the plot from the Manga would not translate well to a live action film, that would be based in vague realism. That's why the anthromorphic animal characters were left out.
Okay, first of all, NOBODY likes the anthromorphic characters. They're useless and they distract from the plot. Anyways, I'm not asking for a shot for shot adaptation, I just want something that resembles the original work. Of course the manga would not translate well into a realism based movie. Green aliens, giant apes, people shoooting shit out of their hands, supersonic kung fu, a wish granting dragon? Why would you even want to put all of this into a realistic movie?
This movie really isn't meant for people that dont know wtf db or dbz is, it's meant for the fans of it. SO, with that being said they should have no need to change the plot and "translate" it, as u say. And atleast have krillen in there.
Actually, with any adaptation, whether it be of a book, Comic book, Manga, Video game or Cartoon, the Director makes it with two audiences in mind: Die hard fans of the original source material and people who are new to the film's plot, characters and world, but still want to see it as they are interested and think it looks cool.

Pretty much every single show/movie has made caucasian-esque aliens, think the show "V" for instance. Since when has there been any others? DB in a live action setting, would keep to those, an asian Nappa would look completely non-believable and rediculous IMHO.

True, I think though it depends on who's producing it. If say Michael Bay or James Cameron were to direct it, then it would have American Actors for certain roles. If its made in Japan, likewise.
Why fans were pissed is because the most importan person was Caucasian, and is not racism, but lots of the other characters were Asian, so there was not really an excuse for Goku not being Asian.
See, in Asian Goku is a big figure, is really what Superman is for us, so is not surprise didn't like Goku as a caucasian person because they always have seen him Asian.
I think Rain (ninja assasins) could pull the roll of Goku, but just an opinion.
I'd say Goku's race would only be a problem for the Japanese version of DB/Z/GT, I don't see it as a problem among the Funi/Ocean dub fans. I personally think Goku's "race" isn't really that big of a deal, especially when DB Evolution had so many flaws. The CGI was atrocious, Goku's Ozaruu form was a complete joke, Shenron looked nothing how I pictured him as, no Krillin, Master Roshi as a 40 year old, some monks created the Dragonballs and not Kami, etc.
Here is what happens, the story is made in Japan , the autor is Japanese, so people in Asia was expecting an Asian actor, because Goku is Asian by default and don't even try to comeback with "have you seen Goku's eyes?" , well, those are the same big eyes as Chichi and she is Asian, as a matter of fact almost everyone in the movie IS Asian.

Okay, first of all, NOBODY likes the anthromorphic characters. They're useless and they distract from the plot. Anyways, I'm not asking for a shot for shot adaptation, I just want something that resembles the original work. Of course the manga would not translate well into a realism based movie. Green aliens, giant apes, people shoooting shit out of their hands, supersonic kung fu, a wish granting dragon? Why would you even want to put all of this into a realistic movie?

This movie really isn't meant for people that dont know wtf db or dbz is, it's meant for the fans of it. SO, with that being said they should have no need to change the plot and "translate" it, as u say. And atleast have krillen in there.

Actually, with any adaptation, whether it be of a book, Comic book, Manga, Video game or Cartoon, the Director makes it with two audiences in mind: Die hard fans of the original source material and people who are new to the film's plot, characters and world, but still want to see it as they are interested and think it looks cool.

Chi Chi is such a piece of shit that this is the one character in the DBZ series they couldn't have made worse in the movie. She threatens the entire human species by insisting Gohan study, and if Goku just tied her down with her legs spread and her mouth gagged, the world would be safer.

People never objected to Superman as white because majority assumes Superman is white and just accepted as the truth while Goku is seen as Asian and it accepts the truth of being asian. In reality both of these species are unknown. But its just the fact Asian characters play Goku better because of Asian ppl's martial arts.

Where does it say the story is "asian"? Hence the fact that it was made in america (the movie). Making Saiyan's asian takes away from the believability that they are aliens, in a live action DB film.
Didn't Transformers originate in Japan? Well, last time I checked it was an American cast.

Wrong, Transformers ORIGINATED in Japan. Remember G1 Headmasters? That was only available in Japan. Not to mention most of the Transformers lore is Japan based (Kiss players, Armada, Energon, Cybertron, Ginrai, etc.) There is a reason why ROTF opened in Japan.

Then why did ROTF debut in Japan? (the producers of Transformers SAID it themselves) Also, last time I checked, Hasbro hasn't made G1 toys in years - its Takara that makes them.
Pretty much every single show/movie has made caucasian-esque aliens, think the show "V" for instance. Since when has there been any others? DB in a live action setting, would keep to those, an asian Nappa would look completely non-believable and rediculous IMHO.

Why fans were pissed is because the most importan person was Caucasian, and is not racism, but lots of the other characters were Asian, so there was not really an excuse for Goku not being Asian.
See, in Asian Goku is a big figure, is really what Superman is for us, so is not surprise didn't like Goku as a caucasian person because they always have seen him Asian.
I think Rain (ninja assasins) could pull the roll of Goku, but just an opinion.

I'd say Goku's race would only be a problem for the Japanese version of DB/Z/GT, I don't see it as a problem among the Funi/Ocean dub fans. I personally think Goku's "race" isn't really that big of a deal, especially when DB Evolution had so many flaws. The CGI was atrocious, Goku's Ozaruu form was a complete joke, Shenron looked nothing how I pictured him as, no Krillin, Master Roshi as a 40 year old, some monks created the Dragonballs and not Kami, etc.

Here is what happens, the story is made in Japan , the autor is Japanese, so people in Asia was expecting an Asian actor, because Goku is Asian by default and don't even try to comeback with "have you seen Goku's eyes?" , well, those are the same big eyes as Chichi and she is Asian, as a matter of fact almost everyone in the movie IS Asian.
Can you imagen an Asian superman? same thing.
