  • Within bitches

  • One sad day!!!

  • ahaaa, 9 yrs right on my birthday that they would implode the place that WE celebrated our honey moon, thtat was the best memories ever ;)

  • Those fucking butchers. Nobody cares about history any more. All the hotels look the same now and so do the people who work in them.

  • can someone tell me why the stardust closed?

  • The decision the hault the construction was based on the additional investors ability to mantain their collateral pledged towards the investment, which was at risk of being in default based on the sudden economic impact of the financial market.

  • Boyd Gaming's share holders and their investors came to a mutual agreement to hault construction. As a result of this decision, all of the parties invlolved saw a spike in their company's stocks. This is how you conduct business.

  • i got my cock sucked in that hotel. so sad to see the ol girl go.

  • goodbye stardust, the tears in your eyes before you closed is still fresh in my mind, why do i have to believe that your gone?,i dont want to believe it ;(,goodbye stardust,i missed you so much,i wish you will come back forever,

  • If you want to keep a building forever just don't name it "Stardust"!!!!!

  • Bye Bye Stardust - You Will Be Missed

  • headphones work when watch implosions

  • detonated Mossad or Cia?

  • I hope Nomi and Cristal got out okay :(

  • Some buildings shouldn´t be touched!

  • poor stardust :( even 4 years later the constuction on the new building isn't up and running, and to think the stardust could be open today

  • It is so sad that instead of leaving this beautiful historic icon alone, that we now have a nine story cinderblock across the street from Encore? Echelon will sit unfinished indefinitely. It was time for the Frontier to say goodbye, but not the Stardust. The main tower of the Stardust was 16 years old. Boyd Gaming, you fucked up big time, and now you can pay the consequences.

  • This is so sad. Now that lot sits idle because Boyd gaming was too stupid to not have the cash to build the new place and our beloved Stardust is gone. My band played there for many many years, I lived in the Budget suites right behind it and we would walk to slots of fun on our break to do a shot and then to the Riviera to watch Lon Bronsen or whoever. Stop tearing these places down damn it!

  • that place has a lot of history

  • I love you Joey!

  • I drive a taxi here in Vegas. Stardust's sports book was where I watched games on sundays. No one cares about the history of Vegas. It's dead. No one cares about the headliners that made this city famous. It's just a bunch of 20 somethings getting to efed up at the pools and mega clubs and throwing up in my cab. Vegas sucks now. There is no chic here like the 50s 60s or 70s. The Cosmopliton? Give me a break. It's as popular now as Come On Eileen in the 80s. Here today, imploded tomorrow.

  • @konawilson6872

You make a good point. I love Vegas myself, but I think it's really sad that so few of the original buildings remain.

The Sahara closed last time I visited, perfectly good resort but just a eerie statue now. That whole end of the strip is pretty much dead these days

  • Las Vegas has turned to "Lost Vegas".

all the old casinos have been lost now.

  • Its sad this is my hometown, but all the history that has been destroyed in the last 20 years is disgusting, not only did they destroy the last of the iconic strip casinos they tore down wet n wild, one of the best places in vegas to have fun,to store construction equipment which i have read they receive the same money that wet n wild produced.they do not care about there citizens they care about making a quick buck, and right now that is biting them in the ass,i predict in 10 years time vegas

  • 0:59 look at the bouncing girl in the white shirt. I loled

  • why did they take it down

  • @shelly274 they did it because in 2006 the economy was really good, and the owners saw it as a perfect chance to build a completely new hotel.

  • @Bartels92 - no Boyd Gaming sold it to Wynn and it was imploded on March 13th 2007, it closed November 1st 2006. They never broke ground on "Echelon Place"

  • sad. useful building but imploded... *sobs*

  • what are they imploding next, caesars palace?

  • They make spectacles of implosions? Is this what people do to keep themselves entertained?

  • and there goes the last mafia cosino

  • Fallout: New Vegas

  • awsome1

  • Ooohh... at least it gave one brilliant last show.Like J.L Hudson's in Detroit. Sure people clapped when it started to go down but when they saw what was left and realised what they had just destoryed you could of heard a pin drop from Grosse Point to Dearborn. Notice the Frontier in the corner...

  • Am I the only one who is watching this after Scorsese´s Casino? I want to cry...

  • сучарище

  • There everything is reason for a party even implosions. Guys, please dont let your wifes go there for any kind of party, you might be victim of what we call: " what happens in Vegas stay in Vegas ".

  • Why do Americans get a kick out of seeing buildings implode? Dammit that was the Stardust!!!... Home Mr Las Vegas himself Wayne Newton!!!!

  • @QuikShotJigen

Las Vegas is different. Other places cherish their landmarks. But nothing in Vegas should be considered permanent. Vegas is an illusion, it is not real. It continually re-invents itself. That is its nature. It is foolish to become sentimentally attached to one place because tomorrow it will be gone.

  • :(

    Why? This was like, my favorite casino as a kid. WTF ;_;

  • ahah americans xD

  • so for my understanding... an building implosion is making the top floor collapse over the one under and so on until the rest of it collapses under its own weight?

  • why are they so happy to see their heritage destroyed?

  • the city will never be the same. Now it's like Disneyland.

    Name that source

  • @luckysod04 -Casino.

  • My dad works for the company that imploded this and he was one of the people who imploded it that night =)

  • i like the old vegas better!

  • @BerkeleyBuilt - yeah, I think it's sad and I never saw old vegas or any of these hotels. Sure there are some cool new ones, but most are just crappy cheap theme hotels with no class and will probably be torn down in 10 years.

  • @1veryreal so true. i don't see why they need to replace everything, when they could have just remodeled them or at least kept the same name and theme for new buildings.

  • @BerkeleyBuilt - incredible waste in my opinion, for the amount they spent on an entirely new complex they could have remodeled and added on, updating but still keeping some Vegas heritage. I see the future of Vegas going retro anyway, but who knows. It seems to me that Sinatra would be disgusted with how it's turned out.

I just wish I could have seen some of the old places before they were torn down....Which old style hotel/casinos are the best to check out these days? (like on Fremont st)

  • @1veryreal yeah they started tearing down the strip when sinatra was around in the 90's. i hope your right, that vegas goes retro. i don't like how its attracting all those thrashy young people.

  • Vegas hotel implosions are the best type of show in Vegas. They are fun, exciting, never get old, and best of all, IT'S FREE TO SEE!!!!!!!

  • "Okay, you had your fun. Now start cleaning that mess up."

  • That was fucking waste of good explosives! Echelon STARTED... All workers sent home one day out of the blue and over a year later - no one has gotten back to work!

  • wow that would be some good publicity for the casino....wait...

  • Build, tear 'em down. Build, tear 'em down. What a waste.

  • jajaja, solo los estadounidenses son capaces de hacer una fiesta de una demolicion

  • i guess 64 people missed the like button

  • Stardust....in heaven.

  • thats looks like how the world trade centers fell including world traid center 7 whatch the conspirasy theories of 911 what do you think

  • explosives didnt bring this building down, chuck norris threw one of his beard hairs at it

  • when did they up the production of an implosion?? they used to just level them bitches during the day now its a celebration?

  • Great "to camera" work there too!

  • Incredible! But there's no way to be 100 percent certain that some crackpot didn't manage to sneak in there and take the big ride down...

  • Good Bye to the Chicago Mob in Las Vegas

  • stardust used to be owned by the mafia

  • aww i miss the stardust, whenever my family vacationed in vages wen i was a kid we always stayed there :(

  • That is awesome.

  • is anyone worried about that dust cloud?

  • @luckysod04 No, It won't hurt anyone because before they even implode it they take out anything harmful mostly asbestos =)

SOURCE: My dad imploded it =)

  • this is fucking amazing

  • So long to the last great Vegas casino.

  • Reminescent of the building 7 implosion on 9/11...So sad to see the Stardust go, I stayed on the 27 floor.

  • guess getting rid of the building at the very height of the subprime bullshit wasn't the best idea ever

  • so, it was demolished to make way for a megaresort which now they can't afford to build and are going to have to put on hold for several years. wouldn't it just have been easier to leave it there?

  • 3 Years passed, and it is still an empty lot. Shame.

  • RIP STARDUST 1958-2006

  • Actually this building was built in 1991. I don't understand why they had to destroy a 15-16 year old luxury hotel. Funny thing, one of the biggest subprime lenders (New Century) went bankrupt the same day - some indentify this date as the fall of the first domino to the crisis. The implosion of Stardust represents the insanity and wrong mentality of subprime lending and the speculation behind it. It was nothing more than a ponzi-scheme and it collapsed.

  • no it was 1958

  • @GnRSlashVR You mean the subprime lending supported by Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac, and the politicians in Washington fishing for votes and more power? That subprime lending?

  • Cool.. Hah.

  • love the fact that some guy at 0:55 says "ah didn't work" but it does.

  • haha.. verry nice

  • gotta love how everything in vegas is a show

  • I have a keycard to this place.

  • the last show of a house nice work. giving a fine ending to a house.

  • Voice: Didn't work.

    (building crashes down)

    Yes, it did.

  • I have $20 in stardust casino chips. Wonder if they'd sell for more?

  • People from Vegas are WEIRD!

  • sad. just memmories and a matchbook that sais stardust on it. so long, old timer.

  • I guess in las vegas they make a show out of everything, right?

  • @securitysystem Yeah, I was there. They charged for tickets to watch it haha.

  • RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • American's are so weird lol. Get a life.

  • Hey, this sorta thing is entertaining to us XD

  • Fuck off ya WANKER!!!!!!!! LOL

  • Haha... has a 'V for Vendetta' feeling to it, doesn't it?

  • Hey, I'm sure they've won alot of money from us over the years so it most likely didn't cost them too much. My friends and I go to Vegas once a year, every year at the same time since we turned 21 and they treated us very well at the Stardust. Just one of the reasons why we always stayed there.

  • exactly like WTC7

  • Damn even in vegas you got a show with an implosion wow only in vegas.

  • @Theshow540 haha, my thoughts exactly

  • @Theshow540 I love you Red!

  • i wonder which hotel will be next.

  • the belagio capricio omega

  • @26turner26 do they announce before they do it?

  • oh i saw that live!!! i had just flown in from el paso, tx and everyone was standing in the strip and i got to see it... and my fam had left the window cracked the 2 inches they give u lol and we actually had dust on the widow seal... circus circus was all dusty inside, was hard to breathe in there lol

  • It's a Las Vegas tradition to hold a public viewing/celebration when an old hotel is imploded.

  • I don't think your tax dollars had anything to do with this.. and as far as I'm concerned, if multi-billion dollar corporation wants to spend a few thousand of their own dollars to put on a show before spending a few hundred million on a new propery. Go right ahead!

  • Uhh, look at the post date. At that point the economy wasn't as bad then.

  • Because it was one of the most famous casinos in the world!

  • amazing...want some money? watch my vid

    you're welcome

  • wow....

  • bein a las vegas native i can honestly say that the stardust sucked...alot of history mob wise but nuthin more than that....

  • holy fuck, i knew it!!! the sides fucking blew out in smoke , just like the towers from 9-11!!! lol! there u go!!!

  • OMFG GUYS!!!! this whole video look exactly like what happened on 9/11........my god......

    ....the truthers are right....

  • well I dont think 9/11 had a countdown and fireworks...=/

  • True, but I don't see why they had to have those fireworks when blowing up a tower block... All we do in the UK is have a spoken countdown and a bang...

  • yea I know, I live in the UK and 3 tower blocks are going to be blown down at once, I really doubt that there will be fireworks =Þ

  • Which ones are they? Not fender heights by any chance?

  • no I don't think so, Its in Edinburgh

  • Ah, we have some in wirral that are due to come down soon.

  • cool, I think I am gonna film the ones going down here and put it on youtube =]

  • same, but i don't think that fender heights will be coming down for at least 2 years.

  • can't wait till November or Octomber. That is when they are coming down!

  • Yeah, but you gotta remember, it's Las Vegas, all shows and lights. Everything there is spectacular and overly-extravagant.

  • 1:04 starts to run the. dustcloud would eat us

  • In my opinion, this was the most entertaining thing to ever happen at the stardust.

  • This is not an implosion, is an explosion!!!!

  • I always liked the Stardust.... I won $2200 there in 1997 ! liked the sportsbook too... oh well. this is Vegas....

  • The Frontier REALLY needed to go, but the Stardust was still awesome.

The Stardust was not in disrepair or suffering from financial problems.

Boyd gaming just took the payoff for that expensive piece of land.

The new "Echelon" just ran out of funding, and will probably never be completed.

Oh well, even if that land sits empty for 15 years, the Stardust is already gone.

  • why did they get rid of it?

  • old and Shitty location, they made a new one in the strip> SUPER BETTER !

  • Only in Vegas lol

  • Cool video, I was actually there too and got some of my own pics too. Only in vegas can you see something like this at like 2 in the morning....lol. I was staying at Circus right next door, and had no idea this was even happening when I was headed back to the hotel. Had to take refuge in Frontier for a few hours. Fun times.

  • Awesome!

  • Only in america.haha

  • Who knew you could make a demolition look so good?

  • i sure as hell didnt that was awesome!

  • calling the stardust a "famed" hotel is a bit of reach, it will be most remembered for being the residence of one of the real world houses.

  • Went out with a BANG!

  • (Comedy Drum Fill)

  • man nice quality =D

  • I lived there back in the early 90s back when it was robbed on an almost regular basis. Funny times looking back. Funny times indeed.

  • Nice touch with the countdown

  • it is a shame, my town is destroying its histiry

  • Great vid!.... just got back from Vegas- Echelon isn't opening up in 10 -that's fo sho.

  • Amazing & and nice idea...!

  • I admit this is kinda cool

  • I guess this is what happens when someone hits the jackpot?

  • build them too tear them down

  • Don't let the terrorists win

  • Now it is actually Stardust.

  • was that sposto happen

  • some of you live sum very sheltered lives LOL

  • How about we put you on that site and implode you!!!

  • Dat is an epic demolishon. Soo good they should rebuilt it and do it a second time!

  • "it didnt work" and then BOOM!! lol

  • Vegas knows how to do implosions

  • i wanna see an implosion in vegas which one will be the next one? what exactly do they put inside the hotel?

  • They put your mom inside large bulidings to implode them.

  • fuck off bitch

  • No. What the fuck are you going to do about it, fag?

  • fuck you immature Cunt you wanna start shit on youtube wow your a loser lol

  • some illegal immigrants

  • yeah dumbshit

  • really now, what the fuck are you going to do? I have a feeling it involves getting sent a hefty cirus you can't compete with, fag. Fuck off; you and your fat whore of a mom.

  • I lol'd at the one guy muttering "it didn't work" at 0:55

  • wtf :D

  • Oh no! I stayed there two nights in 1999.
