  • Whenever I listen to REM I want to listen to Wall of Voodoo.

And everytime I listen to Wall of Voodoo I want to listen to REM.

I'm on the far side of crazy, losing my religion.

    Everything hurts.

  • Yes, one of the best big bands of all time. Strange how coldplay think they fit into this realm, but

    technically not a chance.

  • yan ang vocalista suplado and dating

  • this IS music-will somebody tell Chris Martin to piss off?

  • mandy moore and david archuleta, get fuck off the side of my screen. Youtube how dare put them as a suggestion. Fuckers

  • who did the writing for the band? anyone know?

    thank you.

  • @SDsailor7 Most of the time Michael and Bill

  • One hell of a hook and bassline

  • REM Masterpiece!!!

  • Agent Orange is a herbicide used to defoliate the dense jungle so that the Ho Chi Minh Trail could be bombed it also got all over us soldiers who were conducting operations in the area. Agent Orange was also heavily used in the Iron Triangle where it got all over civilians and US troops and later caused mutations in their children, cancer, and brain cancer which also lead to mental illness.

  • perfect R.E.M. concert includes superman, rockville, texarkana, near wild heaven, live is all around, baby baby, and the cam never leaves mike mills with his cowboy hat

  • @ricflairfan5 Almost perfect! Another rabid Mike Mills fan, I see. I'd add Animal (but would give my eye teeth to know what Mike's actually singing in that one, lol, and Eagle, which I think he sang with another band (Ken Stringfellow's, mebbe, where he's doing the Neil Young thing with the guitar and harmonica, and that song about baseball and fathers he does with the Baseball Project. Oh, and I Took Your Name. Love the harmony on that one. He's simply amazing, the anchor of REM, IMHO!

  • @MizzNefertiri21 THe song you are mention it is called gift of the fathers you can find it on my channel same for eagle

  • i love how unique the guitars are in their music

  • this clip gives me the chills...simply mesmerizing....

  • Good song, good band, not the best version of this song.

  • @Raubhautz the bass and backup vocals from mike in this version are the best and that makes this version the best

  • I had my time, and now it's time for lunch

  • R.I.P. The Point Depot

    Dublin' Republic Of Ireland

    1988-2007

  • Karl Pilkinton's head is an orange. Crush it.

  • Karl Pilkinton's head is an orange. Crush it.

  • Orange crush is an amplifier, his spine is his guitar. He's got his guitar, he's got his amp, follow him or don't follow hes going no where

  • @Trafener .. is this seriously your interpretation of the song? Orange Amplification have only been making the Crush series less than a decade.

  • michael is inspiring, i totally agree with iron spider about how it reaches everyone

REM are simple one of the bands who will always go down in history as the greats

  • Orange Crush!

  • Best use of a megaphone, ever!

  • Its a very religious song about catholics and protestants, why else would the BBC ban this song when it came out around the time of the Falkland war. for goodness sake this band wasn't around during the Vietnam war.

  • @ajifkins It's definitely about Agent Orange. There's pretty much no way to overlook it.

  • You guys are missing the point...it's just great rock'n'roll. enjoy it.

  • michael stipe said in NME "i've played this track live for over thirteen years and I still don't no what the fuck it's about"

    hahaha

  • @andymouse123 He knows all right- he just doesn't want to dumb it down for the press or provide a narrow interpretation- like good poetry it's supposed to mean lots of things at the same time.

  • Video games rule the world!

imean, look at halo kid =P but no, back 2 song, best song evaa!

  • Agent Orange causes mutation and death to humans thats what this is about not the trees in the forest

  • its napalm it dosnt cause mutation it causes mutalation, its very sticky flamible shit they used in vietnam

  • @angelcrafter or maybe it causes Mutya Buena?

  • Shit-hot! I just love the way he sings through the megaphone, 'cos it makes his voice sound as though it's comin' from an old gramophone. :)

  • What a fantastic jam.SIMPLY THE BEST.

  • tremendous.

  • this songs about agent orange a herbicide planting killing defoliant used during the vietnam war. they dropped 72 millin galoons of agent orange during the campaign. it destroyed much of vietnam plentiful forests and mangrove swamps.

  • @ricflairfan5 ,that's not all Agent Orange destroyed. My husband just died from the effects of being exposed to Agent Orange forty years ago. Americans and Vietamese people are still dying.

  • theres nothing wrong with video games

  • i suggest you get your 13 a real guitar and stop playing video games

  • I sugest that you 1. Do not tell people what to do and 2.Realise People don't play rock band to learn an instrument. They do it to have fun.

  • Sure, the kid should have a real guitar.. But why should anyone ever stop playing video-games?

  • The best American band ever!

  • amazing... luved this first time round... my 13 yr old now hammers this on guitar hero xxxxx

  • im 13 too and im playing it on rock band

  • I've got my spine, I've my Orange Crush!

  • Orange crush refers to Agent Orange. A defoliation agent used in Vietnam that caused birth defects.

  • I'm pretty sure it's about the Vietnam war. And how the orange crush is his weapon. And as long as he has his orange crush, he's unstoppable. Or something like that.

  • hear better live than on another version

  • Stipe said "i've played this track a thousand times I still don't no what the fuck it's about" hahahah

  • One of the best live bands EVER!!

  • nah mate

  • high school days dam i miss this shit

  • I think REM is popular all around the world, because no matter what your background is, no matter what language you speak, the religion you follow... you have absolutely no idea what Michael is singing.

Terrific band, regardless, and what lyrics I can understand are surprisingly deep.

  • Absolutely spot on

  • How true.

  • You know what - you could be right *thinks for a bit*

Yep I have only a vague idea about most REM songs but I like them all and they are - when you hear a lyric (and as someone else has said) surprisingly deep.

    Love the REM.

    'course they'll never top Monster.

  • i love this song & chocolate thunder

  • this is what defines the word "awesome"

  • I'm really mad about thi band!!

  • REM please vuelvan pronto a latinoamerica y a CHILE.

  • ah good music.... whatever happened to it?

  • what happend to good music? the disney channel murdered it

  • too true.

first off with bloody high school musical and then fucking jonas 'chastity ring-fuck-belt' brothers

  • not to mension hannah (i'm-so-pretty-and-famous) montana

  • @JONNYBEdelicious ROCK ON MAN!! Disney murdered good music. take it from someone BORN IN THIS GENERATION OF STUPID TERRIBLE MUSIC!

  • @JONNYBEdelicious you got that fucking right..so sick and tired of all the garbage for the last ten years......

  • @JONNYBEdelicious And the new MTVD:

  • @JONNYBEdelicious GE owns most major record labels and it thinks we like Justin Bieber, truth is we don't and they are investing so much time, money, and energy in crap that 1 generation likes. What about us. I'm 21 years old so I missed a lot of great music from the 80's and early 90's, but this is what I love. If I were stuck on a deserted island with a radio that only played justin bieber I would just hope there was enough residual electricity built up in the capaciters to kill myself with.

  • i love this song & pork chops

  • this song kicks so many asses

  • i love this song & tacos

  • Orange Crush was very popular at the time, hence the name, but it is really about Agent Orange which was a chemical used to clear woods and grass and stuff... Soldiers who were near it usually developed cancer and things that affected their nervous systems "I've got my spine..." Some people presume that he was a football player who had to leave to serve in Vietnam. "Not over me..." Is probably like don't drop the agent orange over me... You get where I'm going right?

  • i like tacos

  • I just love how Stipey takes off the tie like he's a matador preparing for bullfight...

  • Great Live performance of this song. Love it as always. What is up with Mike Mills' hair?!??!

  • theres something i like about the voice of the bass player

  • orange crush is something i put in my bongs and makes me happy.

40-50 years ago it was something very bad.

  • *kush

  • Stipey, what's with the blue stripe? LOL

  • He calls it his goblin costume, i guess its just for fun.

  • so this is about something to do with vietnam? omg lol, i thought he was just going away and taking an oarnge crush...

  • Orange Crush was very popular at the time, hence the name, but it is really about Agent Orange which was a chemical used to clear woods and grass and stuff... I felt about fred mercury once like that

    savage garden became yekky

    rolling stones kinda ok

    bad company long back

    U2 pessimistic but cool

Gonna dip myself into REM for a while

    oh i forgot cold play

  • i'm just curious...where does radiohead stand in your list?

  • Amazing song. Too bad the sound quality is abysmal.

  • este 14 de noviembre, no me lo pierdo por nada - REM en LIMA

  • i just luv dis song

  • Do anybody now what this song is about?

    This song is so strange

  • Michael Stipe does :-)

  • Its about vietnam, in particular with ref to 'agent orange'. not napalm as some think but a chemical used to destroy tress and such, in order to make it harder for charlie to hide^^. Seamingly the chances of getting cancer was very high from coming into contact with agent orange.

  • wellaccording to the booklet of their "Tn Time, Best of..." album, Peter said: "I must have played this song onstage over three hundred times, and I still dont know what the fuck is about". I guess thats the beauty of it!

  • Orange crush,

    uh

    I

    forgot that aweful Radiohead.

If there were a comparison REM can be matched only by Radiohead.

    You are bingo

    right on

radio head is another brainy hearty sound.

    Thier sounds are a mesmerising.

  • thnx ollie333!!!

  • your welcome

  • This is the first live performance by ANY band I've seen that almost sounds exactly like the original recording.

  • {This is in my top 3}

  • since 1982, always a great live show.

  • I'll see them live here in Lima next November... Thanks God!

  • isn't orange crush a type of pop?

  • it is, although this song isnt about the drink

  • but what's its real meaning?

  • its technically about Vietnam, Michael Stipe said in an interview yrs ago that he wrote it about a highschool footballer or summut joining up and going to fight. the lines "I've got my spine I've got my Orange Crush", im assuming is a reference to Agent Orange, a chemical pestiside which the americans used over there and the negative effects it had on the nerve system of american soldiers using it.

  • yeah, but it "mixed" whith Michael experiencies when he was young...

  • fair enough

  • one of the greatest bands in all times

  • they sound great live!

  • The rosebowl gig was amazing!

  • What's he saying trough the megaphone?

  • nice song

  • i know what this song is it's the sidewinder sleeps tonight that i don't know

  • No this one is orange crush

  • This song rocks

  • This song is basicly from one of the wars, orange crush was a type of bomb or wepon they used.

  • it's about vietnam and orange crush is referring to agent orange, not a bomb.
