  • most back and forth waiting moves

  • Is there any way you could post a video offering your insight on how to improve at chess or how you got to be as strong a player as you are? I'm about 1800 and am trying to devise a plan to reach master strength. I think it'd be really helpful and interesting to your followers to see your thoughts on chess progression and development

  • It's pronounced fianketto

  • signs of engine abuse, to my mind.

  • @konfucii Yes - PGN in description for those interested.

  • That a5 move is absolutely demolishing and a clear sign of engine abuse, not only the absolute perfect timing but also the speed on which it was played. Awful game.

  • @rulo0801 Totally, apart from that, I laughed my head off when he tried to dissimulate his tricky play by not mating inmediately (the most inmediate move for any engine), something like "Ammmm what can I do now.. Oh yes! I can mate in one!" xD, keep up your excellent work KC

  • @Cuchuflaity Really - so the 3 second minimum delay for every single move of the game and shutting down *all* tactics even when completely winning is typical of a 1300 player online destroying a 197 ECF and Fide rated player is it?! I didn't know that.

  • @kingscrusher From most of the games on the 15 min time control. typically even 2100's seem tactically weak and capable of loads of blunders. Just check the full set of live commentary 15 min games for yourself. Even in my last win, I blundered several times to almost throw away a win. And I am now ranked around 60 again on the ICC 15 minute time control at around 2130.

  • @kingscrusher Amm.. that was to slahblah instead of me I guess xD, greetings from Uruguay

  • @rulo0801 If you actually run the game through an engine you'll see his opponent wasn't cheating, for 1 an engine would never play 29.Be2 because black can force a draw from a bad position but also there were lots of other times white played questionable moves (from an engine pov).

  • @slahblah I don't know if you know how to use a UCI interface or not but Be2 is Houdini's 3rd choice. Perhaps if you are not advanced on these matters you shouldn't post about them?! Seriously. Are you trying to indicate to me that I haven't done proper post mortem of the game or are not experienced in using UCI interfaces?! You seem very naive.

  • @kingscrusher Also can I just add, it would only be equal if I found the stunner Nxe6. So when you say "allowed to equalise" - do you mean if this was an "Advanced chess" game where I am allowed to consult a computer - or do you mean in real life as a game on the ICC.

  • @kingscrusher Here is the relevant analysis - Nxe6 yes apparenty equalises after 3rd choice houdini move Be2 was played:

Suffering - KingsCrusher, ICC 15 0 Internet Chess Club 2012

    5rk1/1bn1p1qp/p2pP1p1/2pPn3/2P5/2N1QP1P/1P2B3/R3R1K1 b - - 0 1

    Analysis by Houdini 2.0c w32:

    1. = (0.00): 29...Nxe6 30.dxe6 Nxf3+ 31.Bxf3 Rxf3 32.Qd2 Qf6 33.Rf1 Rg3+ 34.Kh2 Qh4 35.Rf8+ Kg7 36.Rf7+ Kg8 37.Rf8+ Kg7

However it is necessary to find Nxe6 and the right follow up continuation.

  • @kingscrusher I agree on all points, Tryfon.

  • Fianchetto is pronounced in Italian as fyan KET oh, rather than fee-an KET oh, or fee-an CHE toe.

"ch" is a hard sound, like in bruschetta (brusketta) whereas "c" is soft like in cello.

If you want to go proper Italian pronunciation may as well go the whole hog, but bear in mind most of the western chess world would pronounce it "chetto" anyway (in the same way so many people say brush-etta, it's become the norm)

  • abuser alert seems obvious to me

  • "He's torturing me with the London system" - perhaps that's why his handle is Suffering. Pretty weird name whatever the weather.

  • I have a question: is playing for e6 possible for black at move 12 (after preparing it, say: Re8 followed by Bf8) . I am not sure it is good but it seems to give black the e file or maybe liberate the light square bishop if he takes. It could free black a bit

  • KC...you blitzed through your first dozen moves when you could have spent more time trying to avoid an uncomfortable position.

  • Is the London system statistically that bad results wise?

  • Oh no... Not a London System...

  • i felt sorry throughout for yr light sq B whose liberation came a t a very heavy price

kept battling tho -- what stuck w/ me was tht GM scalp one time - going down a Q you said post mortem "always keep the initiative"

  • Whites d5 control and blockade is one nightmare of the queens Indian player. But this game looks suspicious anyway. Looks like a gm is playing. Though black made some mistakes early on

  • I love the moaning and groaning, like what I'm thinking when I play a tough opponent or system.

  • didn't gelfand destroy kamsky's london system in their candidates match? maybe you could make a video going over that game?

  • Take care !! Now they will try to drown you with the London system, so you better start to like it. :D

  • Perhaps Bxc3 before closing with f6 was better?

  • @huynmartin207 .oh dear oh dear oh dear!!!

  • Looks like he could definitely be abusing an engine. That checkmate was obvious, and he still took time to think about it...

  • oh dear , oh dear :))

  • KC your saying your opponents using time on their clock, but you're not making the most of your time. It's not 5 minutes! Sound like you need a coffee too. Great stuff all the same!
