I'm a metal composer.. about mixing, I've found Lamb of God is the best mix..and I'm trying to learn that how they mixed bass and drums, because bass and kicks fight the eq all the time, and I'm trying to figure out how they did that for kicks and bass without fight.

@ElielChen762 pretty simple - on the old albums, the bass guitar was hardly present and the whole shit was mixed so the bass drum was the only punchy thing in the whole mix. On the new album, the bass is a lot more present and in return the bass drum is eq'd pretty clicky, ie. not a lot of low end.

The basist and the drummer are and always have been the basics in making songs. If you are recording a song and you make the guitar before the drums or bass it's like if your bilidng a house and you make the 2nd floor first... and thats just stupid.

@dudemaister96 hmmm, the usual technique for recording is scratch tracks recorded either live with the band or the guitars,then bass and then the drums go onto a master track. And usually in metal, the songs will come from a guitar riff so guitars are normally the 1st thing. But live the bass and drums are normally left for the rhythm section and the guitars go over.

@mooseintheworks Lamb of God sold the album in 2 different ways. One was a regular CD, the other was the more expensive producer edition, which had drums, bass, guitars and vocals all split up into separate mp3's so fans could mess around with the music. It's actually quite cool.

I've found than other than the tone itself, the second secret to an amazing bass tone is the help of the kick drum, which is demonstrated here. I guess that's another reason why they pair the bass and drums together and call it the rythm section, and they don't do that with guitarists and vocalists by calling i the "lead section".
