@9180gil daki vai a simpatia dum portuga k cresceu a ouvir estas maravilhosas musicas , pena k tão poucos irmãos brasileiros , conheçam estas maravilhas.
@9180gil Cara, meu pai "gastou" esse vinil em casa !! Escutava direto !! Man, my father really scratched this vynil, from unstopable listening !!! Only brings me good memories, and I thank him for that: listening really good music at home, everyday !
@rumplebunny I agree! The introduction is great but from 3:00 I'm also holding my breath. The best discription for this part I ever heard! The first time I heard this was back in 1990 and i'm still holding my breath since. I'm turning blue right now. LOL!
Probably, the greatest piece of music Oldfield has created. I'm sure he would have a different opinion. All I can say is that the piece is just beyond words - it starts in the usual Oldfield tradition of the time: acoustic and synth folky counterpoint, then abruptly turns into a synth classical epic. It builds from a sequenced string synth stab (Oberheim OBXa?) and evolves into an impossible barrage of percussion that must have caused the sound engineers involved a nightmare. Sublime.
WHEN I FIRST HEARD THIS ALBUMN I WAS GOING THROUGH VERY VERY VERY BAD PATCH AND MISSING MNY WIFE AND TWO DAUGHTERS LOU AND JANE AND WHEN I HEARD THE BEAutifull melody at1.21i was crying my bloody heart out, nice one Mike! Simon Philps on percussion is the most!!
WHEN I FIRST HEARD THIS ALBUMN I WAS GOING THROUGH VERY VERY VERY BAD PATCH AND MISSING MNY WIFE AND TWO DAUGHTERS LOU AND JANE AND WHEN I HEARD THE BEAutifull melody at1.21i was crying my bloody heart out
I have this somewhere on cassette! Checked on amazon to update to a CD and it's a small fortune and also unavailable on itunes! Is this album going to be reissued as the first 3 oldfield albums have been in the last couple of years? I hope so, it's great, can make do with listening to it on youtube for now...
you can't find the like of this great musician. this style should become part of world music culture.... though without Mike Oldfield himself it won't be much, so nevermind... you can't build a music culture with only one man; not even good old Mike. though his music will last for many, MANY years.
Though Mike has plenty of stuff that might be considered better it mest be possibly because I discovered Mike with this album that this will always say so many things, so many souvenirs times that will never come again but that will always remain
thanks for so many things Mike,
and thanks foggy for such nice stuff on your playlists such this one
@ajg1410 I'd say the last five minutes myself - it's all good (my favourite album) but Simon Phillips drum groove over that loop sequence lifts this piece into the stratosphere.
from the greatest generation! No!
