Cost of doing nothing= Global environmental meltdown, ocean acidification, 13-14 degree weather increase across America, severe drought to most of the U.S, dozens of feet of ocean sea level rise, total economic meltdown, terrorism, war, government collapse, terrible standard of living for the next 50 generations of people.

Taxing usage does absolutely nothing to the overall burning of fossil fuels. If we produce it from the earth it will be burned. But no one is suggesting to stop drilling or producing oil are they? Which means they only want the tax money since it does nothing to help the climate. Get it?

Taking usage for fossil fuels encourages incentives for solar, wind, geothermal, and natural gas. By reducing production, naturally the price would go up creating the incentives to create renewable energy.

rising temp does not mean less rainfall...logic would tell you that increased temp would mean more evaporation of water = greater cloud formation. global warming is not due to increased carbon in the atmosphere, global temp drives carbon in the atmosphere. look it up on youtube, scientists who aint chasen dollars will tell you...

And incidentally true-The relationship between co2 and temps isn't quite as simple as you put it, nevertheless you are correct in pointing out that in all of our temperature reconstructions, peak co2 levels trailed peak temperatures by an average of hundreds of years. This shows that co2 hasn't been the driver of any of the earth's warm periods. Don't expect logic from activists, advocacy groups, or politicians who obviously have a faith based view of the issue, not a scientific one-

He was correct in his statement. Warmer temps do not=less rainfall. In fact it means more rainfall due to increased evaporation in the hydrologic cycle- elementary knowledge my friend. You are confusing the issue of climate change with the real question, to what extent is climate change anthropogenic? The answer is very little. Increase temperatures do equal increased precipitation in the U.S, as we are seeing, but what about the temperature extremes across the globe? what about the common, extreme drought in Australia, and the decreased snowfall on the Western U.S? Well said! I'll back that statement up. I'll go further to say that no correlation at all has been shown between the recent modest warming and number or severity of droughts. There is evidence of correlation between # of hurricanes and climate change, and that is a negative relationship (meaning fewer hurricanes are expected with warmer trends) But when hurricanes do happen they will be, on average, larger than today's average. The disease statement is absolutely correct- no correlation-
