Jailbreaking and installing Installous only takes like what... 15 minutes? Your device won't run any slower, you get only 2 new icons on your springboard and you get tons of other cool apps.

These guys charge you 20 bucks for very limited freedom, plus you need to give your UDID to them. My, what can go wrong if my UDID falls in wrong hands...

ok this is my thought on how to get the cracked apps free with no jailbreak, when you enter itunes and look up the app info, the real apps you downloaded directly from itunes on your computer will give you information when and who bought the apps (you), but when you download one from the internet it shows you just when it was loaded and modified not who is owner etc. but if somone can get around editing it and showing your info it might work :). well if any of you find that out tell me please :)

Assuming it's not jailbroken, than it's an Apple dev device and he's using his developer account to install the app. With a developer account, you can install & distribute an unapproved app ad-hoc to up 100 other users for testing purposes (i.e. you authorize their device with the UDID) and that's how he might be making his cash - sell the app to 100 people that he can authorize on his dev account. Of course, Apple might permanently brick all those phones plus criminal prosecution.
