There are many examples of her sounding great down low as well; however, it's touch and go. Her high belting register has always been well supported and effortless too (1990-2001/2010), but her whistle register is definitely her most accessible and consistant. It's more about the way you sing when it comes to voice classification.

That's inaccurate and a bit rude. Mariah is doing her thing on this song, and while she not exactly have a gospel voice, she can sing gospel pretty well as evidenced by this song. Mariah's voice is in perfect sync with the chord structure of the song and her vocals build quite nicely.

a genuine gosple song, i cant believe she wrote this. i meant the lyrics are so simple but so powwerful. this one gets me up n dancing everythime i hear it. praise the lord!

@dajf95 She didn't write this, she wrote, "Jesus, Born On This Day." I used to get it confused too because they both had 'Jesus' in the title.

But the whole "she just put some gospel singers to shame" is quite ridiculous... Gospel is not just about the voice. The testimony of any gospel singer, even the would sound like the best ever against Mariah carey, because they got everything to say, nothing to show ass & tities) and no need to show off (live diva behavior)

@BigRoy0824 honestly, I think the background (melonie daniels, kelly price, shanrae price put her to shame) without them I would be about "bitchy chick" trying to sing a gospel song.
And since the arangement must me melonie's. listen more gospel i you want to hear real voices.

That's inaccurate and a bit rude. Mariah is doing her thing on this song, and while she not exactly have a gospel voice, she can sing gospel pretty well as evidenced by this song. Mariah's voice is in perfect sync with the chord structure of the song and her vocals build quite nicely.

It was recommended because our Gospel was Luke 2: 41-52 (Jesus in the Temple at age 12). It is # 718 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship. The lyrics are by Ko Yuki. It is set to the tune, MABUNE, composed by Seigi Abe.
