The change of Batman now makes him look like the Manga/Anime character, Devilman.
But it's odd why they removed one of the endings though. Doesn't really make sense.

Was he changed in any of the other versions? I played through 3 versions and he was present in all of them. Please let me know if I'm wrong though.

I think there was a slight change in the Mega CD version, but I may be wrong.

Yeah, I was playing it on an emulator and thought it was messed up with Spidermman changed into that Batman rip-off. I was pretty let down so I grabbed my Genesis and original ROS cart to make sure it was the original version. Thankfully it was! :)
It's not a minor tweaking like they usually do.. Removing iconic bosses like that is pretty crazy.
