  • Thanks man... you just saved me money.

  • Great video have a 2005 SRX and the same rules should apply

  • my cts isnt black would it be the same for a white car?

just kidding my car is black too!!

    thanks well done

  • *can't get the intake box to reattach insink

  • Has anyone ever changed their stock air filter on a 2004-2007 Cadillac CTS 3.6L? Can get the box/housing unit to attach perfectly back together

  • ahh man don't use a fram filter, one of the worst filters out there, go with napa gold series filters, you might say i don't know what i'm talking about but we had a fram on our 08 impala for 5 oil changes then switched to napa gold and runs even better

  • @thehunter605 actually excuse me im talking about a regular type filter i didnt see the part of the acutal cartrige filter change out

  • why is it that your 3.6 takes 6 quarts? mines take 4.5 quarts

  • thanks for the video! i got a 2008 cts and this helped alot!~

  • Thanks alot really appreciate it! Now i dont have to take it to the Cadillac Dealer.=D

  • Is it the same for a 2006 I just bought mine and I need to do a oil change on it

  • awesom video was very helpful

  • Thanks this video was very helpfull

  • Does anybody know if is this same instructions for a 2005 CTS? Never done oil change on my car yet just bought it

  • How the hell do you get the oil filter cap off? It does turn counterclockwise right? It won't budge for nothing!

  • Did anyone have any trouble getting the drain plug off?

  • @HumanityRising2008 I've done a few oil changes on the car. I have not had a problem removing the drain plug. It might have been overtightened the last time it was installed. You can try a breaker bar or good old fashioned violence, but it's not normal to need such things for a drain plug. Think twice before using heat since you will have oil nearby, even if it's just drips and spills.

  • @WhoDidntAnte Thanks so much for your help. I did end up getting the oil drain plug off, I just didn't have enough torque in the wrench i was using before and got a breaker bar instead.

  • LMAO, two bottles of guinness. If only we could use guinness instead of oil.

And, btw, you don't pre-oil cartridges because cartridge oil systems are internal to the engine- there is a pool of oil held just below the cartridge location.

  • @pcfxer Pour good guinness in a motor?! MADNESS! I'll keep my amber goodness and the cts can keep its slightly thicker counterpart. ;)

  • Do you fill the oil cartridge with oil as one normally does when filling a normal oil filter?

  • Very helpful thanks!

  • Thanks so much! I would never have found the filter cartride... thanks again!

  • Does the engine oil have to be Synthetic?

  • no it doesn't, but synthetic is better. it last longer and it does a better job than regular oil at lubricating.

  • Did this a week ago on my 2007 CTS but instead of using Mobile 1 oil, I used royal purple

  • Did you follow the OLM or change at a specific mileage? What was it (OLM reading or mileage)?

Good idea to stick with M1. Pistons are aluminum with a polymer coating, oil jets squirt oil onto the undersides of the pistons to keep them cool. Also lubes the cylinder walls. Oil type is very important in these "high feature" 3.6's.

  • I change the oil when the readout says the oil life remaining is close to zero. I think I might have changed it sooner in the video. I had just bought the car used, and you can't be sure the previous owner actually changed the oil.

  • Beat the heck out of looking for the book, then searching through the book. Thanks!
