hi guys we work in the UK for RGT retired Greyhound trust, we foster quite a few and 'cat train' them to aid thier chances of rehoming, we have done 12 dogs so far, onlu 1 failed to adopt wuth cats and that was not a pure greyhound. Great to see you are doing this awareness to. See greyhound rescue Flynn and grehound rescue Fred for our videos
this video is nothing but people who know nothing about greyhound racing speaking lies... this is not what happens on a regular basis, and it is truly sad that any bed eggs in the racing industry have givin everyone a bad rap.. i am 4th generation in the greyhound industry and this isnt just a paycheck, this is a love for the beauty, grace, and determination of this sporting breed.. i highly suggest more people do far more research than what these "rescue groups" tell them.
Thank you for commenting. I'm relieved to read in your message, that not all Greyhounds are tortured and killed after their racing career is over. What do YOU do with them when there done? People will want to read about it.
Great video. I Know I commented before but must comment again. It is so sad what they do to these poor babies who work so hard to please humans. Can't get started on Humans...Thank you for posting this I hope everyone see's this and goes to the greyhound rescue. My friend she has three. I love them thank you.
Thank you, Diane! our love of animals is one of the many things we share! If even ONE Greyhound is saved from death, then we've done some good. The comment below reads that not all Greyhounds are treated inhumanely. I'd like to believe it... if only I can see some proof. I've invited him or her to show us what happens to the lucky ones.. I'm actually looking forward to it.
It breaks my heart to know that these dogs are treated so horribly. Please let me know if there's an organization to help, so I can send them a check.
@GrandpopPhiladelphia ... these dogs aren't treated in the manner this ill-informed self-righteous individual would lead you to believe. Makes me wonder where these incredible claims come from.
I had no idea. Always a blessing when rescuing an animal from such horrendous conditions. I'm a mega dog lover. They give so much. Thank-you for sharing this video and helping to save them.
I imagine the stories would be like a book and then the book would be so large it would be hard to carry. I just don't know why...all the abuse, how thank-ful we are for folks like yourself.
Thank you for this list - people often ask me where tracks are still located. I wasn't aware of the Oregon track. I thought the Pacific Northwest was track-free after post Falls, ID closed.
My grey, Jack raced in Birmingham, AL. One of my fosters, Stevie, raced at all 3 Colorado tracks before ending up in Juarez, MX. He was one of the last "Juarez Dogs" to return to US.
I must hold up responding to comments already left, because YT has messed up this section. Please leave a comment so that I can see if it's fixed yet. Does this happen often here?
I think that's a problem with many breeds. The greyhounds who are facing death and mutilation when their racing careers are over is on a different level. Let's face it, there are so many people who feel a guardianship for all animals, but just as many who do not value life. Whatever we can do to any dog, cat, horse, whatever, is better than nothing. I love it that you have strong feelings about this subject.
How could anyone look away? We have two greys & lost a third to cancer! Racing is the problem! There would be no eccess greys, if there were no racing!
My apologies for any inconvenience with the comments. There seems to be a technical problem. My comments are showing up without the original video to which I replied. If you click on "see all comment" at the bottom, it then shows all of the commentw and replies. Thank you.
i live in florida and i know terrible things happen to many retired greyhounds. but i also know many people also rescue them and give them loving homes. this is a sad video. i don't know how to rate it.
Thank you so much for watching the video. It's okay if you don't rate it, I understand. The most important thing is that people who don't know about the abuse of greyhounds, become aware of this ongoing horror. The video may not be a pleasant one as you may have expected, but it gets to the point quickly. I know that there are good people like you, who love and watch over all our canine friends. Thank you so much for caring. There should be more people like you.
Aren't they the sweetest and most gentle of dogs? You already know about it. I'm also hoping to catch the attention of those who need to know about this horror.
Thank you enjoythevoyage for sharing this! Thank you Leigh for this important video! Your Armada is gorgeous! I am trying to adopt a greyhound myself, they are such amazing creatures! I believe they have so much love to give!
My friends lost their beautiful rescued greyhound just a couple of weeks ago.She was thirteen years old. They know that they gave her ten extra years to live. They feel such a big hole in their hearts, and are missing her so much. They are discussing adopting another rescued greyhound soon.
Its sad sick and shows how money causes harm to innocent life.
We have the same issue in the UK with the killing of Greyhounds after there no longer making money, its the same with fox hounds, what a sick world it is at times.
Thank you so much for watching! I hope that if enough people become outraged at this abuse, perhaps they will band together and finally getlegislation passed to protect all our four-legged friends. I appreciate your comment.
This is truly heart-wrenching. We've always only taken shelter-rescue dogs. Once again reminds me of a certain quote....The greatness of a nation, and it's moral progress can be judged by the way it's animals are treated -Gandi
I think this is a great video this message has to be but out there. In my Animal Rights video I show what they do to Greyhounds in Italy. This is so sad that people are able to do such gruel things to Animals. This doesnt just happen in the US but all over the world where their are people racing Greyhounds.
I am going to share your video, Leigh, with my friends! This story needs to be heard by many people!
PS, my wireless keyboard is acting up again! It gets me into so much trouble! I said , I would like to do a video about greyhound abuse! I also asked you if you are with NGAP???
Its so sad that these are bred for greed. IT IS possible/sustainable for the racing to continue WITH retirement homes for the racing dogs.....GREED MONEY GREED. I ask where is the legislation? why are new laws created for other less important things?
It frustrates me that few people think the way they should. where is the compassion?
I am not, at this time, involved with NGAP, although I spoke with them recently and asked if I could do a video with them. They agreed, so more information will be shared as soon as I can get together with them. The executive director was very cooperative, and really cares about the greyhounds. I look forward to meeting him.
it is indeed David whom I spoke with and he is very committed to greyhounds- with such passion! I am also in the Philadelphia area, which makes my interview with David within arms reach! If you want to do it with me, that would be a labor of love for both of us.
I've already told my husband that instead of getting another dog when Bosco goes(he will be 10 years old in February- a big boy Boxer),
I am considering being a foster parent to greyhounds and Boxers. That's got to be difficult for me, as I love them all! How do you part with them when a new home is found. but I believe it helps to fill a hole in the rescue process.
There is MUCH MORE to the story of the plight of the greyhound and Ihave neto telit Are y wNGA? That iswh we adoted our tw angels, ze & Dickens t AWAYS gr to cith oher l5 rscusta

I'm learning this now. I think some areas of the country are better than others, etc. But it does seem there's quite a bit of propaganda out there.
Certainly it's a good way to get donations isn't it?

A major point here is that there are NOT ENOUGH rescue groups to find homes for the MANY excess greyhounds that are overbred!!
