  • haha if you pause it right after the wreck where the banner "speed is beautiful" its so ironic becuase when a crash does happen, its not beautiful :p

  • Thumbs up if you heard all the fans gasping when they showed the first replay at 1:04

  • People should stop complaining about Talladega wrecks after seeing this and other Watkins Glen wrecks.

  • i like it how the walkway billboard reads "Speed is Beautiful" but yet there's a huge pileup direcetly under it...

  • did you see montoya he literly SLAMMED on the brakes

  • Speed is Beautiful......meanwhile, down on the racetrack..........lol

  • Love the Glen. Add some proper run-off areas, a new pit complex and bring Formula 1 back to it.

  • 3 words speed is beutiful

  • 0:22 Dr Jerry Punch said Bob Blaney.

  • @racerdsm14391 No he didn't

  • Rednecks sure have no sense of direction.

  • speed is beautiful

  • Who let them drive out of ovals? Predictable.

  • @Kw12345ff who let you have a computer?

  • Oh man.

  • i was there and it was brutal

  • figured Mcdowell was invovled.

    Mcdowell sucks.

  • NASCAr makes watkin's glen look ugly

  • In the picture when I clicked this it looked like Kevin Harvick was taking a piss.

  • i was there everyone beside me was like "wtf!"

  • great video huero

  • Irony.. Seeing the SPEED IS BEAUTIFUL sign above a big ass crash haha, good to hear there all alright.

  • ive been there in 2003,2005,2006,2007,2008,2009

  • wooo i was there

  • I'm really impressed with how safe those stock cars are. Especialy with Carl Edward's wreck in Talladaga

  • horrible placement for the sign lol

  • @crakajack3 speed is beautiful. crashing... not so much LOL

  • Wow Hornish just dosent have any luck at Watkins Glenn. Both times he has raced here he been in a big crash

  • that was a scary wreck

  • @Coasterrider210 not it wasnt

  • This was a pretty bad crash, but it dosent compare to the turn 9 crash at this years race.

  • shhiit labonte got the ol front n back pretty intense...

  • fuck that black car got clobbered

  • i was there 2 day but it5 got rained out

  • lol the banner up top on the bridge says speed is beautiful!!!!

  • I go there every year and we sit right inside of that last turn and we didnt go this year because it was supposed to rain I CANT BELIEVE I MISSED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i was there and it was beautiful

  • sandstorm lol

  • poor goffer cam

  • poor bobby. he was hurtin

  • i was there in the esses it was scary no one came around the track till like 5 minutes later

  • i dont know why but when i first saw this when the commentator said "one car in flames" i thought he was gonna say "one car upside down". i was scared when i saw this. especially when i saw bobby's car

  • seen this some of my fav drives were in it.

  • I live right next to this track. Its so loud all the time.

  • one of, if the the worst multi-car crash I have ever seen at the Glen.

  • gilliland was just a victim ,mcdowell had him headed strait for the fence theres nothing else david could have done

  • This crash happened in front of my own eye's. I was with the safety team at turn 11, I actually copped a piece of one of the car's off the track. It was probably one of single coolest things I've ever seen.

  • Holy shit the side camera, amazing footage!

  • lol speed is beatiful

  • i was there i got so scared

  • lol cool..i grew up 10 minutes just over the hill from the glen...ive spent more time in watkings glen than i can recall..been to the track many times working and for the races...i was fortunate enough to see the Formula ones run before the track shut down before corning inc bought it...heck i even got to walk on the track in the late 70's ...pretty cool...i love road courses...cannot stand to watch 50 rednecks drive in a circle for 3 hours lol...

  • Gilliland is a good driver, but McDowell didnt give him NO room, and McDowell wrecked 10 cars

  • gilliland is not no good driver

  • i agree

  • Gilliland is a great driver, he won the All-Star Showdown in 2006 and won the Kentucky Busch race by great driving, you dont get to the cup series by driving like crap

  • if he ever wins a real race then i will say he a good driver tony stewart said it best he luck into his ride

  • just like in the nascar games , wreck it.

  • I love this crash! The good thin g is that biffle made it out alive, the crash started behind him. lol.

  • "speed is beautifle"

  • i was right in front of those barrels

  • thats crazy how dale jr made it through un-touched

  • i seen a race in watkins glen

  • u seen? thats fantastic. i "seen" a race there too, not to mention ive driven, or should i say droved, on the glen in a race there.

  • 1:46 lol dale jr bearly made it through that reck.

  • So that's what happens when you add a right turn.... add more right turns.

  • I think it's funny that you can hear the crowd over all of the cars

    OH!!!!!!!

    OH!!!!!!!

    8O

  • cool!!!

  • lol. i like the "speed is beautiful" banner above the wreck

  • my little brother said the same thing

  • I was in the Silver Stands (Turn One)

But Waltrip Coasted right over in front of me.

    JJ 3Peat~

  • I was at this race too...unfortunetly I was directing traffic out of the parking lots and missed the whole damn thing!! (still pissed)

  • i was there and saw the wreck right in front of me..

  • i was at that race and seen that wreck live

  • i think the speed is beautiful bridge is ironic

  • speed is in fact beautiful

  • Yes it is, but it's better under the lights!

  • lol the big sign, "speed is beautiful"

  • who was on fire?

  • I mised that crash.

Im glad no1 was hurt realy bad.

Sad 2 see Bobby's car after the crash.

I live 45 mins. from the track.

  • I'm glad bobby is ok. go 43

  • go Marcos and the Wood Brothers

  • im glad labontes ok

  • no not really, they are just fat. i think the driver tried to turn the sterring wheel and his gut came in the way and crashed.

  • Dude how fucking stupid are you? There's No fat Drivers IN NASCAR. Infact I think theres a weight limit now. So go get your facts strait and come back when you do dumbass.

  • so kenny shrader isnt fat?

  • What!?

    haha

what made you want to say that?

  • wellllllllllll dont say that. tony stewart could use just a LITTLE work

  • other car rammed he into the tire barrier thats why this big crash happend

  • You show stupid english skills. Nice work!!

  • u are right but most f1 people who swith to nascar dont no how to drive sprint cup or nation wide

  • I was there and it was so scary!!!! Thank goodness everyone was ok after it all ended.

  • saweet.. i was there at the glen in general admission. i left at 65 laps, i was listening to the radio on the way home and heard this crash. i should have fucking stayed...uh well

  • I knew it was a matter of time coming out of that corner.

  • that is the worse crash at a road course i have ever seen

  • Look up JD McDuffy

  • nice vid unfrotunate that it was a racing incident between Gillaland and mcdowell that caused it

  • i feel sorry for bobby. me is a jeff gordon fan but me has alot respect for the dude.

  • Ur an idiot

  • i wish kaseykhane won

  • it just shows you how far NASCAR still has to come with safety. Bobby only hit at about 88mph and was still hurt bad, unless there are angle that just hurt getting hit at no matter what.

  • yeah there is not much more that nascar can do to improve safety. Its kinda interesting that McDowell hit the wall head on going 185 mph and only had a few bumps and bruises, but when Labonte hit at 88 mph he was hurting pretty bad. I think that Labonte was hirting because he hit the 38 car real hard then got hit hard fro behind. Or maybe Mcdowell had his belt on tighter, while Labonte being a nascar veterin may have had the belt looser cuasing him to hit the dashboard or wheel

  • actually that wasnt bad considering. i mean if that was 15 years ago he might not be able to get out, because he may not have been concious. yea it wasnt fast but still, 88 to almost nothing is a big speed differential.

  • i know i'm just saying safety is still a big issue. the more i look at it though the less bad it seems.

  • i was there. it was fucking awesome. people on the overpass were running for thier lives. 'speed is beautiful' so classic.

  • dude, where were u at the glen?

  • That crash was crazy

  • Yeah that was nasty.

  • bobby labonte got hurt

  • Man, there were a lot of cars involved in that wreck.

  • Wow That was a bad one! As long as they all walked away.

  • They're showing the replay of the crash with a large overpass banner saying, "Speed is beautiful". Just fucking classic.

  • this happened at dover and richmond earlier this year now here

these type of nr2003 cant stop accidents only happen with the COT i guess, lol

  • what a crap redneck sport...

  • not too many redknecks listen to rap or r black either

  • speed is beatiful...it s wrote on the wall

  • McDowell was first put on probation, then suspended, for over-aggressive driving/causing incidents during the 2005 or 2006 season when he raced a DP car in Grand Am/Rolex. He needs to learn patience, not to mention how to race door-to-door without wrecking his fellow competitors. The #38 and #43 were lucky to have essentially walked away from that incident. MMcD should be suspended, with a qualifier that he'll be banned for a future similar incident.

  • Well, McDowell is out of the 00 for being a sucky driver now... and Mike Skinner is in.

As for a suspension... you have to be light on the kid, he's a freakin' rookie!

  • in my opinion it was the 38 car that started the wreck. It would be very stupid for McDowell to come up the race track because he would have just ended up spining himself around. The 38 car came down the track because he was mad about how the 00 car was racing him and when he hit him McDowell corrected his car putting the 38 car in the wall. Gillerland admited it himself on a show on speed a couple of days ago.

  • "...The 43 of Bob Blaney involved..."

    -Jerry Punch

Lol I love how the crowd reacted

  • dont watch it then.

  • True.

Ahaha Gordan did it again.. That was so funny. Right in front of me.

  • It's kind of funny how Newman stalled trying to avoid the wreck.

  • McDowell is awful. Then again everyone on MWR kinda sucks balls.

  • NASCAR still does wrecks right, unfortunatly that's all they do right.

  • mcdowells move was right out of dale sr play booK

    #18= #1

  • 1:22 holy shit! spinner!

  • I just watched this and a saw Labonte got airbourne :O

  • Labonte must have got some serous wipelash, First he slammed Gillerland and then got slammed in betund by BLaney, knockin his car n the air and hitting the wall

  • I was there Yesterday

Sitting in the Silver Stands (Turn 1)

    It was Crazy.

Red flag for at least a half hour.

  • ouch....

  • I was there, it was an amasing race. The crash was horrible, especially since it was JUST out of view from where we were sitting! I was amazed to hear that everyone walked away from it.

  • im just glade booby can race next week

  • we couldn't watch it on our tv..

it wasn't being televised on any of the regular networks..

    thanks for having this video,

my dad's been harping me about trying to find it on here.

  • 'Course it's a big crash! If that's not big to you, what is?

  • of course you probably watch F1 or irl where those people dont know how to drive, and those cars are so much more dangerous, flip over way too much, youd think the officials would either make the cars safer or slow the cars down

  • how do you know they can't drive? Do YOU watch F1?

  • yeah a little, and i can tell that F1 needs some changes.

  • i cant understand a word u just sed cuz u need to learn how to spell, or stop using dumb abbreviations

  • Whoa, did you say there was passing in F1?

  • Uh oh Mcdowell just lost his ride

  • nah mcdowell is better than his owner

  • badass crash !!

  • at 1:22 ypou can really feel how hard that hit was, damn that car spined all the way around in like 1 second... damn really hard hit!

  • Those right turns are a bitch. They should just stick with left turns.

  • that wreck was unreal

sheetmetal and car parts EVERYWHERE! and Hornish had took off with the top of the water barrel.

  • i was there!!! it was crazy no one saw it they had no clue how it happened until they actually watched it on the playback! there were tons vehicles cleaning up after it they were red flagged for like almost an hour...

  • "Speed is beautiful" lol

  • Forgot to add, sorry. Nice reflexes by Sorenson, the red Target car.

  • Well, actually Gilliland and McDowell were called to the NASCAR trailer to account for some aggressive driving right after crash. They were the ones who caused the huge mess. And yes, the crowd sounds really funny with their oooohhh on the impacts. Hehehe

  • at least there was a good wreck lol

damn kyle busch he is going on the way this year no stopping him now

  • The only good part about NASCAR.

  • i can't believe david gilliland got out o.k. that is GREAT sfety equipment, but stinks he got wrecked. good bobby is o.k. so far. but Greg Biffle's spotter was over there and got hit by some of the debris and hasd 2 get 27 stitches.

  • that was a crazy ass crash!!

  • Rewind and start at 1:07 and watch Paul Menard in the yellow car weave back and forth right through the wreck. Pretty good driving.

  • as cool as this crash is its was even better live i was there right behind the camera guy

  • The crowd is kinda funny..

    1st impact...oooohhhh!

    2nd impact....oooooohhhh!

    3rd impact......oooohhhhhhhh!

  • The Glen is my favorite place on the planet....

  • Hello from France. I saw this live in french tv channel who show all the sprint cup series.

What a hard crash ! But even so, don't you think it's so "funny" that this crash happened under the "Speed is beautiful" banner ?

  • It might be ironic, yes. And by the way, about that last turn in Watkins Glen before the S/F line. There's not much room to move if somebody's involved in a crash. The track's too narrow there. Almost feels like a street circuit.

  • jr didnt pit,not very clever move by the jr race team he had one of the best cars out there!!!thnx for puttin this up so fast man!!

  • bout time sum1 put gilliland in his place

  • i havent heard word on how Bobby Labonte is doing.... the other wreck that scared me was Newmans spin and then the car stalling in the middle of the track when eveyone was coming at him and nascar took for ever to throw the yellow

  • Labonte has been released from the hospital. He had sore ribs and abdominal pains. He is cleared to race next week they said.

  • Oh, yes, definitely. That happened on Turn 1 and luckily he wasn't hit. I could think there was a local yellow flag, but didn't see the officials waving it.

  • david g. got hit like 20000 times during that... surprised he didn't get hurt

  • punch said "heavy contact" like 3 times in 8 seconds

  • You should listen to the reaction of the crowd when they were watching a replay of that wreck.

  • Mcdowell continues to prove that he does not belong in NASCAR...stupid move!

  • he does belong in nascar

  • if there is anyone that don't belong it's the 38
