I just bought a 158cm 2009 Custom X with Burton Triad bindings. I am intermediate, but I know I will be able to handle it. I do other board sports too. I can't wait to ride it!
@CizzleK not so much boot but board waist width... some boards are wider than other in general. as a standard we recommend a waist width of 255 plus for riders with boots over 11
so how would you compare the 09 custom x to the 2010? what are the differences on how the 09 rides through park, powder, groomers and everything else compared to the 2010? and if you've ridden the 09 custom x very often for a whole season, how different would the 10 be? and do the "lighting bolts" add any noticeable effects?
so i wouldnt nessessarly be detured by people who say this is a advanced board i started on a 07 burton x8 160 cuz i though i would be into park stuff but it turned out i was more into speed carving and pow so on a whim i bought this board in a 164 only my 3rd time out and i never felt like it was too much board overall i felt like this i could control this board better then my x8... i love this thing tons of fun...not saying it will have the same result but worked wonders for me
here's the deal with this board... anyone can ride it and I do not want to make it sound too elitist the real reason most cannot ride it the way it is meant to be ridden is front leg drive into turns, aggressive torsional flexing and switching from a cross over turn to a cross under turn. Doing those movements will allow you to enjoy the board to its fullest if you want to be casual and a ride a board do not buy this board, it meant to be ridden hard all day.
both boards are 7 flexes but the supermodel has a 10mm taper so if you wanted a true all mountain board that really has a directional feel then buy the supermodel x however if you wanted a more playful allmountain stick that you could ride switch easier then buy the custom X
Thanks for your answer, I'll go for the superX because of its pow credentials - I can sacrifice a bit of switch riding and get the most out of the big lines
Hey I'm looking at getting a new board for a trip to Canada this season. What's your opinion on the difference between the Jussi and the Custom X. Should I wait for the 2010 season?
you are talking apple and bananas with those two boards, the custom X is a great responsive board the Jussi was really meant for Jussi or a rider as weird and crazy as he is...the 2010 Custom X was stiffened up and really not as fun as the 09 version.
hey, ive been riding for about two years and i could pretty much handle most of the mountain, including parks, would u say tht there is a big enough difference to shell out that extra cash for the custom x
I would just make sure that you knew that this is an advanced stick. I would suggest other boards first over this board. Its stiffer and reacts much quicker than a regular custom might.
Hey i just tried snowboarding, and I LOVE it...... ima stick with it for sure! I really want to get a board where i can go to the park AND shred through powder. Is this an all mountain board?
this is not a beginner or really an intermediate board. This board is really for an advanced level rider and what might suit you better would be a custom.
You shouldnt get such a expensive board as a beginner. but if you got the cash and want some quality try the Forum Young Blood ! it's cheaper and not you can use it for all mountain and freestyle and stuff like that.... If snowboarding is all new to you, you won't be able to tell the difference between a very expensive board and just a litle expensive board. Go for Young Blood :)
with a sintered base you can hit some rocks and keep charging and we have seen very few Custom X returns... I think that sounds more like hearsay to me than fact
hey im also looking for a new board but im between the burton custom ics (or 3d) and the lib tech skate banana. what board would be better for everything?
2 totally different boards... like I said below some love reverse camber and other hate it, the custom is a safer choice and is a great option for everything. I don't want to knock the skate banana, the kids that like it really like it...
dude try something like a forum seeker. it's such a good all around board and its alot cheaper than a burton custom x. burtons overrated and over priced anyway.
I'm looking to get a new board, i love going fast and love goin to the park also, i was looking for a board thats good for cruising and also flexible to get good feels on rails. Message me if you have any suggestions.
not the custom X... I would look towards the regular custom, the K2 believer, the DJ PBJ, or even Lib Tech Skate banana... but beware of the reverse camber boards... some people love em and some people hate em.
hey can u do a review on a board of ur choice or does burton chose witch boards to do reviews on?? if u can chose can u plz do a review on the burton blunt??
with his height, shoe size and weight he would need a special board made for him, but I would imagine he would not be allowed to snowboard under his Basketball contract.
yeah, actually I had no problem carving that board... I was allowing the board to travel away from my body which is referred to as a cross under turn... So sorry but that was not leaning
lol i got this board for 399.99

Burton Twin 09 or Burton Custom X 09?
Yajoke 2 years ago

PortersLars 2 years ago
@PortersLars just got the burton twin 09 with burton mission bindings and 2010 hail boots. mostly park

ya thats like the most expensive lib tech board besides the banana magic
spazzlarr 2 years ago
burton blows its waaaaayyyy to expensive go with lib tech or gnu way better technolgy and better prices
spazzlarr 2 years ago
so the 2010 Lib Tech TRS at 559.00 is a deal... same price as the Custom...
PortersLars 2 years ago
Neither of those companies have the R&D that Burton has. Hardly a comparison for tech!

personally I thought the lightning bolts made the 2010 board feel stiffer than the 09 version but both boards are stiff rippers

Any problems with this board being fragile? I have heard some bad things about it breaking and getting gashes in the base.

My Custom X 07 just died. Top coating was torn pretty bad and I've ridden only 40 days with it...
So I bought a T6 this time hopping that it's gonna resist better.

how much burton paid you to do this commercial?

nothing, we did these as consumer tools and the only thing burton did was supply the boards.
