It just itching for a song on top. Collaborations with established singers could be a step forward into the mainstream realm. Or to really compliment the music.

Crookers for example, may have stayed unnoticed commercially for their entire careers if they didn't collab with Kid Cudi which added a catchy hook to their wobbly basslines for 'Day and Night' which was a massive success.

Try it for yourself. Mix in a suitable acapella with any vocaless track and it brings it to life.

But to sum it up. I think the genre creates a fantastic backing track but isn't sure of what the song is yet.

You'll notice that alot of the tracks are remixes of songs from other genres or uses chopped up samples like you mentioned.

Its great for me as a dj because i can have alot of fun with it. But i feel that alot of great music is produced in this genre and it slips under the radar.

80's epic sound with an updated pumping bassdrum. These vocals seem to be selling the track short. Its quite difficult.

Look at Justice's album for example. You have some vocals on there but there are alot of the big tracks which have no vocals. You have the kids choir on DANCE and the male singer on DVNO and Uffie on another. But the 'instrumental' tracks do sound great with the right acapella mixed in.

Alot of the time this music doesn't need vocals but i find that when they do make

Listen to this as an instrumental, its awesome. I think you have to find the right vocals for this style, to make it perfect !

Yea as a Surkin 'chopped up mess' (haha :)) it would sound good.

But although the 'we could never be friends' hook sounds good, for me the vocals just don't fit.

It doesn't even seem like the right genre almost and as if it someone has edited the vocals from another song.

I myself try to mix in different acapellas of different styles old and new with alot of the electro/french touch music, to see which finds its home. Tracks like this are full on 80's..
