On this day, 148 years ago, the brave and noble Armistead lay dying in the Spangler Farm kitchen(Union hospital). He expired around 9 a.m. on July 5th.
I have this deluxe commemorative soundtrack on my MP3 player. Once when I was on the battlefield I walked from Seminary Ridge to Cemetery Ridge, retracing the steps of Pickett's Division. When I crossed the Emmitsburg Road, I played this track. As I approached the Angle and Cushing's Battery, I was tempted to shout, "THE DAY IS OURS MEN!!! TURN THE CANNONS ON 'EM!!" I restrained myself; I didn't want to scare the boy scout troop standing nearby.
This is my favorite song for my favorite scene of the movie. I know 1 mile in the heat is bad, but General Armistead knew what needed to be done. If only all the men who lost their lives during Picketts charge would have done what General Armistead did, The South would have won the war. And I would have been happy. Burn in hell you fascist pig Abraham Lincoln!!!
Do you know were I can download this and purchase it ?? Im been looking ofo rthis for years and God Bless you for putting this piece up here on youtube.
if the country gets messed up next election WILL I SEE YOU GUYS ON THE FIELD? IF SO WE SHALL PLAY THIS SONG!!! AND DIXIE!!!
