  • Shared to my Facebook profile. Thank you.

  • Deer become very active during this time and also become more active during daylight hours which increases the odds of DVA and is also why the hunting season coincides with this period. What a stupid argument to say deer are more active due to hunters in the woods.

  • I know how easily deer can get spooked so imagine the wildlife killers when in the forest trampling their disgusting feet or driving their ATV to murder wildlife? Even when a deer is shot with an arrow or bullet I have seen other deer take off including the wounded deer ( the wounded deer most from bowhunting) then remember the hunters having to track the deer, drag the bodies to the car .

  • There are plenty of areas in my area that are illegal to hunt yet the deer are out of control. There are no food plots, no hunters pushing them and no reason to artificially inflate their numbers. The biggest reason for DVA can be attributed to the "rut".

  • In Millburn NJ when they started "culling' deer in one part of town the deer started to seek refuge in the non-killing areas. That is what happens when the population of deer are ballooned to satisfy recreational killers deer will move to areas that they feel is a safe haven till the killers goes there too and blame the deer.

That is why in urban deer we need deer birth control not lethal culling.

  • so u want us to do what? kill ourselves?

  • If you are a sports hunter sure why not? Make sure to take the others with you its a lonely trip to hell LOL

  • You know what I see your point I think im going to quit hunting now! I am murdering people for going into the woods I guess those tree huggin hikers need to stop going into the woods to right?

  • I always said that sports hunters have the mind of serial killers and I would not doubt for a moment they would kill humans if they can get away with it.

  • nononono Your avoiding my question Hikers and nature lovers should stay out of the woods right? Because they could run a deer in front of a car and kill someone.

  • First of all where are all the deer herd coming from or did you even bother watch the video from beginning to end? Second of all hikers hike all year there is no rise in DVA until the wildlife serial killers hits the woods in the fall with all those deer stocked up for killing by the DNR. Hikers do not want to go into the woods when the killers are in there plus the peak hours coincide with hunters favorite hours to hunt and of course tracking and/retrieving the deer.(5-8pm).

  • Just let me fill you in on a little fact If you dont know why less deer are hit by cars in the spring of the year? The reason why is that deer dont actually have to go looking for food during the spring and summer food is plentiful for them because everything is in full bloom. And during the fall and winter deer have to look for food because everthing is dead. You can not blame hunters for that. Deer looking for food and rut activity is the cause of most DVA. And thats fact

  • Now that is a new one must have read back comments and sat here for a while pondering on a new "why we are not to blame" excuse. Funny though I don't see that on any DVA statistic report about winter being less food and that is why DVA peaks its because of hunting and rut but where are all these rut deer coming from? We can clearly see that the hunting industry are producing deer for recreational killing meaning lots of big rack deer for hunters to kill.

  • That is why they continue to reject deer birth control even knowing full well that killing does not work in fact it does the opposite. Whitetails make up 70% of the money that the hunting industry makes and its worth billions so why would they want long term deer herd reduction?

  • Deer naturally move during the hours, its instinct toward survival, even on land that does not permit hunting, deer still move at dusk and dawn !

  • I am not saying they don't "move" without hunters but hunting worsens it and hunting is not a necessity in fact hunting for "deer management" is a SHAM.

  • YOUR PEOPLE ? NO one is MY people. What explanation do you have for the abundance on public land ? We can't rightly plant food plots for deer on government owned land ! Perhaps YOUR people should realize deer are going to breed and show abundance relative to their food source. Which means all crops grown to feed you contribute to deer populations as well. I also like how you answered my comment without posting it, this doesn't rightly show my view of the situation does it ?

  • Food plots not only done private land its done all over by clear cutting forest, burning timbers, which create large habitat and new lush food for deer to feed on. Whitetails are a billions dollar industry where 70% of the revenue comes from these animals so they need the abundance and that is why they reject deer birth control because they know it works well!

Also the hunting industry know about mass killing deer create more deer( Compensatory Rebound Effect ).

  • The only problems with deer vs. DVA is overpopulation of people. As we continue to clear areas deer are going to " seem " to be overpopulated for the lack of forests to contain them. The reason DVA's intertwine with the hunting season is cold weather and the rut. Deer move constantly in winter seeking abundant food sources which means crossing roads. The rut causes deer to move as well ! Most vehicle accidents involving deer occur at night ! There is no hunting at night.

  • @strikeenette

It's not just "seem" overpopulated but it is "overpopulated " because the hunting industry ensures abundance of deer to kill for sports and trophy . You have seen the other videos just now which explains where all the rut deer are coming from.YOUR PEOPLE.

  • This is who hunting community mislead the public

"Most vehicle accidents involving deer occur at night ! There is no hunting at night. "

There is "no" hunting allowed at night BUT hunters are allowed to be in the forest at night you just cannot kill and what are hunters favorite hours to hunt?

    Dawn and Dusk !

    "Dawn

The earliest hours of the morning are among the highest for deer movement. It's best to get to your blind or your station before dawn

    cont.

  • "Dusk

    # Dusk is the best time for deer hunting. First of all, hunters at dusk will have the converse advantage that dawn hunters had, as deer return to their beds. However, dusk is also a time of other increased activity.

    From another websites hunters says

What is the best time of day to deer hunt?

" Most hunters seem to prefer early and late. Deer are moving in the mornings back to their beds from feeding, and visa versa in the evening going to the fields to feed. "

    cont.

  • "Best time to hunt deer is early morning and evening. Deer are mostly nocturnal animals; they prefer to feed at night. In the mornings, you will see them as they to into the woods to find a nice safe place to bed down for the day. In the evening, right before dusk, they start moving around, as they are hungry and want to go out again and feed."

    Plus lets not forget this

*Deer hunting is permitted one half hour before sunrise and one half hour after sunset.

    cont...

  • Although DVA's can happen ANYTIME during the day the peak is at these hours

. The peak time according to Ontario Transportation is early morning (5am-7am) and after sunset (5pm-11pm) in NY D.E.C it says " with most of the collisions occurring between 6:30 and 7:30 AM and 4:30 and 6:30 PM" in another it says "Be especially alert driving between sundown and sunrise". Here is another ...* "Deer Vehicle Accidents are most likely to occur between 5 AM - 8 AM and 5 PM - 9 PM."

    cont.

  • cont..

The report also confirms that most wild animal collisions occur during early morning (5am-7am) or after sunset (5pm-11pm).

Now I know when you kill the deer its not just blink your eye like a jeanie and you are out of the woods you have to track and retrieve the deer sometimes requiring other hunters to help you (which I read a lot about) and then leave the forest. They even sell special light called chemlights to track deer at night.

  • The "there is not hunting at night" is the most misleading statement from the hunting people to take the blame off themselves.

  • SUE The Dept of Nature Rapers (DNR)!

  • you know people hit deer when its not hunting season? explain that its called when your on the road PAY ATTITION. also that part you showed of the deer running was a BUCK chaseing a DOE who was probly comming into heat i have a buck and 5 does who live on my property and hes chased the girls out infront of my car a few times. its peoples faults for NOT WATCHING TO ROAD and whats around them that hit deer not hunters

  • @coorscow

Of course I know that it can happen anytime of the year but the PEAK is in the fall during hunting and rut season but the question WHY do we keep having so many deer? The video explains it and the link on the video information to the blogger called "should hunting be held accountable for DVA's".

  • It's not people fault the state and counties where there is hunting should make better signs, put fences on high DVA areas etc but I believe they want the mangled cars and human death because fear is what makes people accept hunting and hunters come in pretending that they are "saviors" when they are the cause of all Deer human conflicts. DNR lies to the public about the deer problems which they know damn well they themselves are causing.
