I watched a TV documentary about post 1979 relations between Iran and the U.S. In the part about moderate minded Khatami's era as President; he tried to negotiate trade on replacement parts for the American built aircraft being used for civilian transport and was denied.

The U.S. missed alot of diplomatic oppurtuinities with Iran when Khatami was president. Fuckin Lobbiest.

Iran air has problems for getting spare parts. It might be an idea to bring back the old Douglas-3 passenger planes that they've got, yes they're old but one of the best airliners ever made (and proberly more trustworthy than the new Russian ones they've ordered). uruleworld .... This was a Fokker 100 belonging to Iran Air. The accident was caused by human error - I would say incompetence or lack of judgement - by the pilot when landing. There were no casulties, but injuries. Iran Air has had a number of crashes during the past 20 years mostely due to absence of spare parts. Nevertheless, Iran Air is not classified as a risky airlane by industry standard, while Air Niugini, which has a newer fleet is considered as risky and not recommended one. Saludos.
