I don't think there is a font big or wonderful enough to convey how much I love this song. I have often been found plastered in the back garden singing this at the top of my voice. BLOODY MARVELLOUS! EASTER EVERYWHERE.
Its about conception. The feeling of the song, its what I imagine it must be like to find out your going to be a father for the first time. So beautifull.
this song is one of the best they have ever done. somehow it always gets me no matter what mood im in. could anyone upload the track that was on the single about the making of this song? i've been searching for it all over would love to hear andy talk about it.
Just dismiss any concerns about what the power of music is capable of and listen to this. 5 minutes of wonderment that simply and effortlessly exceeds the musicality of . . . well anything that I'm aware of. Did anyone write a better song than this over the last 30 odd years? Other than Andy or Colin?
I can't understand why this isn't the most respected and successful band of our time - it's completely incomprehensible to me.
@vicory Just seen your comment re XTC's Eater Theatre and could not agree with you more. Performance, subject, arrangement and originality combine to make this a classical, yes classical masterpiece (file next to Mozart, Ravel, Debusst, Tchaikovsky...it's that good). Andy Partridge is in the elite group of the world's songwriters. XTC should be, as you imply, be regarded as a natioal musical treasure like The Beatles. Your taste, may I say, is impeccable and knowing.
My favourite XTC song and a five minute masterpiece.
I remember buying 'Apple Venus Volume One' in the Virgin Megastore on Oxford Street, and the guy who served me asked if I had heard any of it yet as all the buyers for the chain were raving about how brilliant it was.
Easter Theatre is rhythmic, complex, and original, and coupled with the brilliant multi-layered vocals it becomes pop gold; it's a tune to match the best of The Beatles IMHO :-)
Haven't seen or heard the "making of" version, but I was privileged to be working in the studio where much of Apple Venus was recorded. A great session, with some great people.
this song is about everything that people here say it is... spring, rebirth, a new child... and more... its about "blowing away the smoke" of organized religion and celebrating the new life in the world rather than trappings of tradition. they are open agnostics... who happen to be master songwriters. the best! buy these CDs and wear them out!
I never tire of hearing this modern masterpiece, it must have taken weeks to put together.
Partridge and Moulding are national treasures.

The song "I´d lie that" i prefer on the making of album, i sounds so good.--
i wonder how partridge managed to achieve such a fat
demo-sound.
i don´t think he is a trained enigneer, but i guess his great equipment makes the day--
after all really good microphones and a good recorder i would prefer to the newest iBook running fruity loops
