  • i was in class study for that poem and what's its really mean...i really love the music..it makes me want to go to sleep...^>^zZzZ

  • not to disagree wth what some of you are saying but its not just about being a kid forver its also about seeing things for the fist time like seeing a sunset for the first time thats gold..its like a childs point of view being able to experience things for the first time..i think thats every one needs to live theres still good in the world..all though some people dont no that...(btw i came to that understanding by reading "the outsiders/S.E Hinton its a great book)

  • R.I.P Steve Jobs

you were the gold and sadly you left

  • lol. my best friend and i read this book like, 5 times, and we loved it soooo much, we memorized the poem the second time we read it. then when we saw the movie, we loved the story even more, and now we have every line of the movie memorized ^.^ -333 gotta love The Outsiders and best friends c:

  • Have to memorize this poem for 5th period. I use this video. The poem really goes with the book and the song was what I felt when I read The Outsiders. =D love dat book -3

  • Haha I have to recite this poem for Language Arts using your video to memorize it

  • love ittt

  • Is there any song that can relate to this poem?

  • @cupcakes43210 yes stay gold stevie wonder

  • @magicguitarist2

    thank you.

  • @cupcakes43210 "Stay Gold" by Stevie Wonder is written for a book called The Outsiders that used the poem as a main detail to the plot. One of the character's last words was, "Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold," after the main character read the poem to him earlier in the book.

  • thumbs up if you had to recite this for english/language class, i did :)

  • im my 4th period were reading the book the outsiders and we had to recite the peom i got a 100 it was easy

  • taking an interest in this, good job on the background music, learning bout this in language arts for school.

  • your gold when your a kid. -like green

every thing is new - dawn

something you enjoy deeply is gold. like how ponyboy digs sunsets. (:

    - johnny cade - the outsiders(:♥

  • This poem really speaks to my soul. . I think we all want to hold on to childhood, but the truth is, we can always be a child in our hearts. . and that's how God wants to welcome back when we die

  • natures first green is gold, her hardest hue to hold=baby born and growing up

but her early leafs a flower but only so an hour= her baby is a child but only for so long

then leaf subsides to leaf so eden sank to grief= growing up

so dawn goes down to day, nothin gold can stay= you grow up and die

  • Nature's first green is gold = kids

Her hardest hue to hold. = not being able to be a kid forever

    Her early leaf's a flower; = kids

But only so an hour. = not being able to be a kid forever

Then leaf subsides to leaf. = losing the essence of being a kid

So Eden sank to grief, = losing the essence of being a kid

So dawn goes down to day. = losing the essence of being a kid

Nothing gold can stay. = losing the essence of being a kid

  • @Megaman3451

Which is why mothers have to let their children grow.

to hang on to the innocence of childhood forever is like trying to fit a big turtle into a small shell. its inevitable. becuase no matter how hard you hold on to it, it will always slip. and if you do hang on to it in adulthood, you will suffer greatly.

  • @veneno2717 ....and that's why hellicopter parents suck!! LOL ;)

  • @Megaman3451 i dont think thats what this is about

  • @Megaman3451

    ... Meh >.>

  • @Megaman3451 HER EARLY LEAFS A FLOWER MEANS THAT EVEN THE LEAFS THAT COM FIRST ITS AMAZING.

  • @rocky97100 ...naaaah it means being young is beautiful

  • @Megaman3451 Hmm that's your own interpretation as i see people agree, but that's your guy's point of view.

  • It means absolute beauty can never be forever, for if it was beauty could never be as beautiful.

  • i need to remember the poem and fimnd the meaning can anyone explain it to me?

  • @joesr31 it means whatever the interpreter can decide

i believe it means your gold when youre young and everything is new and it doesnt last
